Bo Nix will need the power of Christ to avoid the horrific Broncos drafted QB curse. So profound is this curse that throughout the Broncos entire history, only Tim Tebow managed to avoid its grasp due to his deep personal relationships with the all mighty God. Pray everyday Bo Nix, otherwise you’re doomed.

We talk all the time about how important WHERE a promising QB is drafted. Mac Jones to NE, disaster. David Carr to Houston, disaster. CJ Stroud to Houston, brilliant. Bo Nix and his skill set to the Broncos and Sean Payton, hopefully brilliant. This QB’s skill set is ideal for how Payton wants to play football. More smart than athletic, accurate, controlled, cerebral, takes coaching well, extreme work ethic. This is a very good match of qb to coach and scheme.

In most cases, yes. I think Nix is a special case tho because hes literally played more college games than any other qb in the history of the sport and theres no substitute for experience. Nix would likely have at least a decent floor even if he went to a lousy situation. Most guys who bust are 21 year olds when they're drafted with only a year or 2 of college starting experience. Theyre just not ready mentally or physically and the weight of a bad franchise on their shoulders breaks them. Nix is a 24 year old rookie whos seen it all in college with 2 different programs and went through more than his share of adversity. At worst he would be like a Jimmy G earlier in his career before all the injuries piled up. But with a qb guru head coach like Payton, his ceiling is limitless.

Yup. hopefully Payton notices & fixes it because that's something he's excellent at, spotting & fixing weaknesses, not *denying they exist* & reacting accordingly. This is why Russ had to go. What the problem was isn't fixable.
He can no longer scramble the way he used to so that he can find a spot he can see the field from. That's Absolutely Everything his play is based upon.
As a result he led the league in throws behind the line of scrimmage *for the past **_five years_* topping off last season with 23.7% of his passes being those. Since they barely average 2 yards each, he was setting up 3rd & longs where the D would know a pass was coming, bring the pressure & so he'd throw behind the LOS on 3rd down, killing every drive that started on their side of the field.
That is useless. He can't move the ball down the field. This was _after_ losing weight this off-season.
I'm a big fan, but I honestly think Russ is done. Anyhow, back to Nix: I think that his lack of good coaches forced him to focus on mastering the short pass & that as an unintended consequence, the muscles needed to throw harder have not gotten the attention needed.
I think that if he tries working on his back right away he'll throw something out. What it looks like to me is he throws with too little of his body, too much arm. I think he needs to work all his side muscles _then_ incorporate exercise to strengthen his back. If you look at photos of most QBs the instant before they launch the ball, they look almost like contortionists. Their arms look bent in ways that look unnatural. Not Nix. He doesn't flex back much & doesn't get his weight behind the ball. No zip.
That needs to change or he's gonna throw a ton of pick 6s in the NFL because the ball gets to the receivers too slowly.

Jordan- I read your statements a few weeks ago about how ill prepared you thought Jarrett Stidham was when he got to the Patriots because he was coming from terrible systems at Auburn & Baylor that didn't teach him anything of value for the NFL. Nix played in the same system Jarrett did for 4 of the 5 seasons he was in college. The only year he didn't (2021) he struggled in Bryan Harsin's offense with pro style passing sets that required more complex reads & was temporarily benched. Despite this, the majority of this Denver fan base assumes Nix can just come in & start as a rookie. Stidham spent the last 5 years in the NFL's best QB rooms & Sean Payton made a specific point when he signed him of talking about how he saw him as a potential starter, & especially how he had a high football IQ, knew how to read defenses & throws a very accurate catchable ball. Basically he said virtually everything about Stidham that he is now saying about Nix. The Denver media is apparently entirely unaware of this since none of them have spoken a word about it.
I like the way you're crediting Stidham here as well for being a formidable obstacle for Bo, so I'd like your opinion on whether you think Stidham can hold him off, & if so for how long. I think people have forgotten that this guy beat Alabama & Georgia in the same season when both were ranked #1. They are forming opinions based on two meaningless late season starts in Denver in which he did nothing to show he was not capable of the job. I also take note of the fact that Nix only truly blossomed when he was surrounded by NFL level talent & behind a top 3 offensive line. I don't think this is a slam dunk for Bo.

I mean people got Bo Nix doing better than a hall of fame qb. And what a person does on the college really doesn't tell you much it just gives you clues. As for qbs coming into the nfl i generally pay attention to 1 key detail no one even mentions. You have college qbs who throw the ball at receivers and not to them Bo Nix throws to his receivers not at them like most of qbs drafted before him.

I fully agree with this. Nix looks like a different player when playing a ranked opponent and not. When he’s not playing a ranked opponent, he’s a good QB. He’s got all the quality u look for in a QB.
When he does play against a ranked team, it’s a completely different story. Nix has an all time college record of 8-28 against ranked opponents. I got a first row seat of this because my Washington Huskies played Nix in two ranked games last year. While Nix got his basic skills down, he seems off. He would panic and roll out of a clean pocked, he would sometime throw balls before properly getting set, and he would try and force balls in.
Bo Nix is the type of QB to make the greatest throw you’ll ever see and the worst throw you’ll ever see, in the same drive.
And when something is good and bad, it’s mediocre.

You know and I know Jordan, that to 'really' evaluate a QB (or ANY player) you have to go through the tape series by series. One or two decent plays does NOT make Bo Nix Drew Brees, come on. When I (and others) looked at the full body of work of Nix, some bad things jumped out that he will have to clean up. One, is his tendency to predetermine and stair down. Second, there is a whole lot more 'Russell Wilson' in this guy than Brees. Too many times pulling the ball down and bailing out of a 'clean' pocket for my liking, considering he had one of the better pass pro O-lines in the country. I would feel a whole lot better about Nix if he was going to the Saints two season prior to Brees retirement than to the overrated Denver Broncos.

But for my money, I’m going with Zach Wilson. Wilson has NFL experience, a bigger arm, and was a higher rated prospect coming out. You get Wilson away from the circus that is the Jets. Give him a stable organization and a top notch HC in Sean Payton. Throw in three years of maturity and Zach Wilson may yet salvage his career. Nix or Wilson?
