most likely your converting the song into a mp3 file. Logic can't read mp3s so what you want to is ether find a mp3 to wav converter or a RUclips to wav converter. I recommend mp3 to wav it'll be easier to find.

However, when I try to sample it, I can't get the sample to fit well with my drums and 808. Any tips on how to compress the sample so that it fits with trap style drums and 808's?

bro just put it out with the sample we dont have enough bread to clear a sample, if the song gets big you can work out a deal with them then
just a quick qestion would the drums in the audio clash with the drums you create. or would channel eq do the trick ?
channel eq usually does the trick but it all depends on the sample each are different.
