Great! A full review of Doepfer! I don't have a "system" but I do have a lot of Doepfer modules. If you have a problem, Doepfer has a module to solve it!
Thank you for posting this!! I haven't been able to try any of the Doepfer systems in person, this is the highest quality video on the topic I've come across so it's really helpful.
I feel like is a really good solution to start. Personally I don't like a lot the aesthetic but that's sound very well, you show this in a beautiful way with this video.
I always advise people to go to Doepfer first... how something looks has nothing to do with the sounds, this is not a fashion show. If Doepfer don't have what you need (rare) then look at other options..
It's not a fashion show for sure, and Doepfer has a super clean layout. But the looks also play into the interface which also plays into the pleasure you'll derive from using your instrument so I can understand if others prefer something else. Looks/interface is what draw me to Verbos in the first place for example.
I recently fitted an A-121s (state variable stereo filter). The amount of inputs is crazy. I think the reputation for Doepfer making ‘basic’ stuff is probably dated now. It’s killer.
I actually swear by a homogeneous Doepfer system. Saves a lot of headaches as well and it looks neat. Also as a former UX designer, those fancy UIs can drive me crazy.
@@LucasMarchal yeah true that...Actually I didn't know but Doepfer offers even cheaper systems (e.g. System 1)! They are actually keeping their prices quite low, it's honorable.
Go on, doepfer is always underrated..
The drone had me daydreaming of gargantuan agricultural equipment harvesting on alien moons so I call that a success.
@@mynewcolour this drone lead me to places I wouldn’t go with a gun

Recorded entire albums with just the most basic Doepfer modules.
There's probably a few more hiding there too !
Congratulations for bringing out the nasty and gnarly side of Doepfer! I've not heard anyone do that before.
Honestly it's close to the surface ! no big effort need to make it sound gnarly :)

You're welcome ! it was my first experience with a full Doepfer system and I really enjoyed it. High quality
@@LucasMarchalis there anything that comes to mind to put into the extra space on the bottom row out of curiosity?
@@emuhunter1 I might put a sinple analog sequencer to make it truly stand alone?
new vid from my favorite modular techno channel. the Doepfer sounds big

You can't go wrong and you'll learn a lot with this system. A little room to grow as well !
Awesome, always look forward to your videos, very enlightening ....also love your verbos videos...killer!
Thank you !
Excellent - doepfer might be brutalist in design, but it sounds beautiful.

had a question. are you using the audeze lcd-x? if so, do you apply any eq settings to it or just the original headphone curve on it?
Very cool to see a Saul Leiter book in the background. Are you a photographer?
It was my first serious hobby ! Still take a lot of pictures. Saul Leiter has been a favorite of mine for a long long time.
@@LucasMarchal do you have an Instagram account for your photography? I would love to see some of the pictures.
@@jimmcd1101 I don't !
Doepfer is great, especially utilities but 3k euros for this system is still bit too high IMO
You'll have a hard time finding a full modular system priced below 3k...

see the original is best, not much need for fancy arguably overpriced modules!! lovely
Doepfer is always a great option for sure ! But it's fun to explore what other brands have to offer as well :)
Your camera auto focus is pretty annoying
I know I have to do something about it for the next one.
@@LucasMarchal Just turn on the manual focus and lock it to the modular.
