You clearly have no idea about fujian like most people. China have skipped a whole generation of carrier. They wouldnt invest 13 billion on a carrier that doesnt work. Fujian is indeed more capable than the ford in performing the emals. It is more energy efficient.
If you have passed your middle school physic exams, you should know there is no problem of a conventional carrier with EMALS. The only thing matter is energy efficiency. Actually EMALS has better efficiency than steam catapuls, like those in Kitty Hawk class carrier. In a steam catapuls carrier, you need to consume energy to heat water and than use the energy of steam power to accelerate aircraft. Most of the energy were lost during this process. EMALS use eletric power to accelerate aircraft, energy lost during the process is much fewer than stem catapuls. Steam catapuls work well in US convential carrier. So EMALS will work even better. In other words, EMALS consume less energy than steam catapuls per launch. And because the EMALS in Fujian are using DC. So in theory they have even better efficiency than AC EMALS which were installed in US carrier Ford.
So much American cope in the comments on any vid about this carrier. Quit thinking with your little head for a second and consider what it is and what it's for. In today's world, there are 190 countries, and China is the largest trading partner for 130 of them. I wonder how many years until the war happens. Not like this thing is very dangerous, but still it is unlikely carriers will be involved in a Taiwan invasion and it will be land based planes. The ex-Russian carriers with the bent decks are no more than amphibious support ships nowadays
China isn't in a rush. War will not happen in this decade unless Taiwan try to declare independence.
Aircraft carriers are pretty much obsolete due to hypersonic missiles. I'm sure China has a use for them tho. Such as for large-scale rescue missions due to catastrophic natural disasters and maybe some aspects of defence.

Wow, someone who's asking a real question. SCMP is a mixed bag, there is reason to believe they're relatively independent and also that they're falling more and more under the control of the CCP. China have been into MagLev technology for many years now. The EM catapult as PLA called it, is a derivative of MagLev. Instead of pulling coach, it just need to pull jets to a speed required for take off.
Unlike USA that don't have the experience... Further DC EM catapult is better to manipulate the Votage and Current to give a gentle and control acceleration tp redice pilot stress and stress to the airframes.

EMALS on a conventional propulsion ?? unless they develop or conquer ports around the world, they won´t be able to go very far without a large fleet of supply ships...
They will building very large supply ships😅
You clearly have no idea about fujian like most people. China have skipped a whole generation of carrier. They wouldnt invest 13 billion on a carrier that doesnt work.
Fujian is indeed more capable than the ford in performing the emals. It is more energy efficient.
004 and 005 have been put into production, and China will have 5 aircraft carriers in 2030
If you have passed your middle school physic exams, you should know there is no problem of a conventional carrier with EMALS.

China's not the US: China is a continental power, with big land borders and a fundamental interest in the new silk road (the belt and road). Think about where China's interests are and where and how they might deploy this kind of asset. Dollars to cents it's not the kernel of a blue water navy to challenge the USN in the mid Pacific.
We’ll see the Chinese “coping” when it sinks. 🤣😂🤦
Correct China is a continental power in history is littered with the ruins of Continental Powers who over invested trying to build a blue water Navy to have things both ways. Turns out you pretty much have to pick one of the other as a country. Got little Powers who build babies generally bankrupt themselves
Building a carrier is one thing, that's just hardware and can be copied from other people. Learning how to use one is another thing altogether. The US has a 100 year head start there.

My call on what’s going on:
This boat, type 003, CV-18, is nothing…
Speculations abound, words in the street is that they have plans for *a super container ship and other marine vessels using thorium reactor* as the
power source.
This in turn leads me to believe that once this technology is matured enough (under going actual tests on smaller sized communities right now in the country) that they will refit all four carriers, the 001, 002, 003 (and an additional 003 now in progress) with this power source which is why they still build them using conventional power sources.
Not only that, but, as we speak, chatters www abound, two 004 class nuclear power CV’s have already started, simoutanously, in two distinct yards as plans are being drawn up for an addition ten boats of different tonnages all likely to br powered by thorium now by 2045 timeframe…
And, by that logic, we can assume that they will start fielding their Aegis and other naval systems with the same power source due to the safety aspect of thorium reactors over others power sources.
Only logical you know. They are waiting for thorium.
.

they wouldn't bother, too much work to replace the power system. Easier to build more carriers.
