I was a deeply insecure, self-hating teenager and always thought I'd be miserable forever because no one would turn my way because I was on the heavier side and thought myself ugly. This commercial was so comforting to me, and I remember getting defensive over it when I showed my friends and one of my guy friends made a face. I remember getting upset and saying, "What, you don't think women who are heavier are deserving of love?" It was the first time I'd stood up for that because at that time I was self-hating and joined in on laughing at heavier people because of my insecurity. I'm now an adult, and I'm still so insecure, but I'm happier with myself. But this commercial still brings me so much comfort and joy, even though I'm not really interested in the pursuit of being loved romantically. Her confidence, joy, and sweetness still stand out to me and shows that the most important thing to have is a beautiful heart (though I do think she is beautiful). I just wanted to share, just in case anyone sees this and is/was in the same spot I was in as a teenager. Remember what's valuable. 🌸

Even though it's for advertising purposes, the message of having confidence and finding comfort in self-care is actually a really good reminder to everyone that happiness can be found in the littlest of things. If this was a drama, I'd probably re-watch 70 times. It's so refreshing to see a story in which the chubby girl can find her happy ending in love without necessarily losing weight. There are too many dramas like Birth of a Beauty or 200 pounds of Beauty that just showcase how "normal" it is to give in to the societal pressure regarding (ridiculously impossible) weight and beauty standards.
I had to admit, when I saw the first episode to Birth of a Beauty I wanted to watch it SO B A D because I thought the story will be about how the fem protag would win her husband back with a little romantic comedy story but OH NO IT JUST HAD TO START WITH, SURPRISE SURPRISE, HER GETTING MAJOR FACE AND BODY PLASTIC SURGERY DONE. It disgusts me :(
