I have been listening to you since 1996. I bought a lot of your music and enjoy the hell out of it. Seeing you play on the Nord 3 just reminds me why you are my favorite keyboardist and why you inspire me, dude. Love ya, Derek.
Hi Derek I like your Videos and i would like to know how you make your amazing leadsound. Beside the marshall Amps how do you generate and controll the overtones? Is it just a osc sync sound a ringmodulator or a simple sine or tri wave which is controlled by the mod wheel or the Aftertouch. Greetz Oliver
It would be great to know the story that's behind the origin of mr. Sherinian's typical synth sound. He's using it since 1997 or so. I remember the enormous impact he had at that age, with the lines in the sand intro, remembering whales chant in the deep ocean. He had the coolest kind of sound ever heard for keyboards: this lead, piano, hammond organ with alot of flange and unrecognisable cool synth effects (like the melodic Scarred one). Oh God, brings back memories...
He had a sound designer from Korg come in. Together they designed the legendary Sherinian Monster Lead on the Korg Triton. There's some video footage on one of the DT home videos.
It was sound designer Jack Hotop of Korg who helped program the “Monster Lead” which was taking Derek’s already-used distorted lead sounds to the next level with the Trinity.. I’ve always been a fan of Derek’s playing as well as his choices of both classic keyboard choices such as Fender Rhodes, clean and ultradirty B3, mellotron and clavs as well as crazy pads and leads from his Korg and Nord synths. A good chunk of the DT fan base didn’t give him much love after leaving the band, but with his solo albums, Planet X releases and his work with Yngwie, Billy Idol, Black Country Communion & Joe Bonamassa solo, PSMS and Sons of Apollo have truly vaulted him even higher than when he was in the band.
avrei gradito di più che, invece di cazzeggiare a 3000km all'ora sui tasti, avresti magari suonato qualcosa di emozionante... Meno note e più pathos! In fondo anche se ci fai vedere quanto sei bravo... non ce ne frega niente.

Your sounds always had an edge to them that I loved. Jordan always seemed to imitate but never duplicate the heaviness and balls of the Nord leads.
Outstanding.
Holy shit bro I thought the Lead would explode like a guitar in a music video from the 80's lol amazing!
Mola!!
Holy shit, If I was blind or something I couldn't figure out if it was a guitar. Amazing amazing video.
Memorymoog coming in the near future
Any news?
I love u style man,,,hugs !
Hey Derek! Can you make a video on the memory moog as well? Thanks!

if it wasnt for the video, i swear i would have thought i heard eddie vanhalen shredding on his guitar. that thing has a very punchy lead to it.
Hi Derek, in 3:10 you are started from 1 : 12 "Goa Head Bass TB" patch?
Your sound is very cool!!!
Dude..
THAT answers SO many Questions!
I'm still curious about the leads used on Pieces like Trojan Horse, In This River.. ;)
Very guitaristic sound. Is it the one used in Apocalypse 1470 BC ?
Is this the same keyboard Derek used when u played at the DT reunion concert back in 2004?
Anirudh Viswanathan yep
What is the name of the song playing at the intro of this video?
Czar of Steel, one quick trivia, John Petrucci is the guitarist for that track, That's why I really love the album: Blood of the Snake
Did you use a reamper box before plugging into the guitar amp?
no
Thise keys have low level inst outs or were you hitting the amp at Line Level?
Oh! My Gosh! :o
Sound like the roar of a lion!!!!
try the 432 hz tuning instead of the 440.... Awesome, great job !!!
This video convinced me to not to sell my Lead 3.

Parole sante
(A me pare fighissimo anche così!) Ma un po' più di varietà non sarebbe guastata, è vero.
Ascolta l'assolo di "god of the sun" :)
