- In the Season Premier of Monarky Season 3 I will get my WORST START IN ARK EVER! I was randomly was assigned the worst possible base location and now I have to try to fight off packs of raptors that come back ever few minutes. My goal is to tame an Ankylosaurus, do a metal run on metal mountain, and get over 1000 metal on the first day. But we will see if I can get anywhere with all the raptors that just keep spawning.

LOL Thanks! That was definitely classic to realize too late that the reason they weren't eating the stims I force fed them was that they both died. I was thinking... well... rescue mission failed... guess I'll go home then. I loved your first episode too! Seems our base spots are very similar. Looking forward to watching more!
The first time I ever played the island, I built at 80-50 (where the admin building is on the community server, now) I made a house, a tool shed, and a huge corral. I had no idea the south cave was just right there, but I had friends looking out for me and teaching me the ropes, so it was a mostly gentle introduction to the game. Hoping the Monarks all find it easier as we go along this season.
Nice! My first base on the Island was on a really nice flat plateau overlooking Metal Mountain and I LOVED living there. This spot is a nightmare but I'll keep at it until I can build something really cool here :) We're all embracing the pain this season. I usually find creative ways to make Ark a piece of cake to win, so this is all new for me to be so limited in what I can do. But it's a fun challenge!

Thanks! I'm trying to get a better balance between helpful Ark tips and fun Ark gameplay this season. The base location struggle will be real for quite some time lol
On a beginner's raft, just stay along the coast. if you need to cross over to Herbivore Island, just do a quick scout ahead to make sure there are no whales spawned in before crossing. Crossing over only take a minute so so some scouting first.

I always build my base on the southern shores as there isn't many raptors over there and it's near the lava cave and water plus green ob is close too I can't wait to see next episode, have a great new year 😊
LOL yeah lack of raptors seems to be the most important thing in a successful start in Ark ;) I can't really get anywhere until I have some tames that can kill the raptors that keep overspawning every few minutes, but Episode 2 will be all about that ;)
Started watching Monarky cause I follow Raas but you've definitely been my favorite that I found from watching that series, keep up the good work!!

And lol even if I didn't have a full-time job, Raas is a legend and no one can keep up with him ;) Half of winning at Ark is about adapting quickly to different circumstances, but the rules this season take that to a whole new level! So glad you're coming back to Ark, I hope you enjoy the new PC experience!
Well. I think you could go to that spot between the swamp and Far's peak . There you can easily kill titanoboas and loot them for metal tools and tranq arrows. On the island usually titanoboa's sabertooth and scorpions have metal tools in there inventory.
That's such a great idea! I should have farmed tranq arrows by killing lots of creatures because they were the most valuable item for the first week until we unlocked them the next week! Thanks for the tip!

LOL SO true. I was thinking that to myself how it was only fair that Raas got the base I wanted this season and I beat him to the base I wanted last season. I normally base my whole strategy around starting in the best locations so this has been really forcing me to adapt on the fly, but that's part of Ark :)

LOL when 10 new raptors spawn every few minutes, there's no shortage of hide. I have over 10K hide just from leaving my new tames on neutral outside my house ;)
Raptors have been a menace since day 1.

There's actually a bug in the switch that is a cosmetic bug where the crops don't spawn in when you boot up the game. But you can still farm from them. It's a minor cosmetic bug that really bugged me... no pun intended. But please tell me their going to fix it.
Definetly a rough start but if I've seen anything about ASG is that he will build big and he will build strong. Curious if you will attempt to raid this season or use the defense method like last season.

I am already working on a new build with a twist that I'm pretty excited about. The new PVP rules and my work schedule will make raiding a bit difficult for me but I will be working on that after my base is established.
leedsichthys isn't a whale. It is a fish. Likely the largest fish to ever exist. The only whale in the game is the Basilosaurus and they don't attack rafts.
That is a great point! I usually call them whales just because of their size and because you only have time to yell out "WHALE!!!" before your raft gets attacked. I call Ichthyosaurus dolphins because they behave so much like them, but I realize they're actually fish too.
