After coming here last March and asking for prayers for my daughter, who was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer( She lost one Ovary and tube) and so many people were kind and prayed for her. Well, I'm happy to come here tonight and say today we had her gender reveal party because she's pregnant with their first son. Thank all of you who said a prayer because it was malignant but hadn't spread. I feel blessed. Thank you, Susan, for having a safe space to hold here for us mature women. XO ~lori
I never realised how similar our lives were until now. I am going to be 71 next month. My mother was unwed when she had me. She lied about who my father was too. I had a cousin who said I would never amount to anything. I became a nurse and worked for 40 years in some very high stress areas like ER, ICU and oncology. I was well respected by my peers. I raised two kids alone, only married once knowing I didn't love him enough. To this day I live alone with a rescue dog named Beau. He doesn't sing like Desi but is part husky so he does howl sometimes. I visit my grand kids as often as possible. Let's hear it for 70 something confident independent women.
@@Cindy-bee goodness!! You sound like me, too! Turned 70 in Sept., two kids, RN retired, also have rescue dog who can’t sing but barks EVERY time my husband sneezes. Wonder how many of us are out there…lol!
Oh my, your reference to Robert Redford brought back a memory. Years ago I was on a flight from Los Angeles to Miami. I was in 1st class and Robert Redford and a younger lady were in the row in front of me. Two nice things stand out: 1. People were entering the plane and walking down the aisle and were looking tense and tired. But, as they passed Robert Redford’s row and it dawned on them who they were seeing, their expressions relaxed and they began smiling. 2. He his face was very lined and his wrinkles were deep as the Grand Canyon. But he was quiet, comfortable in his own skin, and polite.
You know , it just occurred to me that when I look at Robert Redford in recent photos, I still see the gorgeous man in “ The Way We Were “ ! Same way with my husband and me. We look at each other in our 80’s with our eyes, but our hearts see us in our 30’s.
I worked with a lady years ago who said her friend was in an ice cream store where Robert Redford lived. She purchased an ice cream cone and who comes into the store but Redford. She got so flustered that as Redford was leaving the store he came back to her and said you put your ice cream cone in your purse. That story always makes me chuckle. By the way he is my favorite man, too.
Most of the time I want to give up. I hurt, I regret, I feel forgotten, but then I remember that a few people look to me for comfort or encouragement. I don't want them to give up. Plus, my dog needs me. On good days I find joy in creating with my fabric and making things that bring joy or comfort or utility to others or to me. God reminds me to be grateful and he paints such beautiful sunsets each evening. He gives me food and a place to live in comfort and safety. When I do pass, I want God to smile when I pass through his pearly gates!!!
There is a satisfaction in sewing a garment or something useful. It was just pieces of cloth - but your hands and imagination and effort created something new. Sewing is a quiet thing to do. Even when you feel that you aren't appreciated, then run your hands over the things that you have created and and know that you have learned how to do this. Sewing is a skill.
your comment touches me deeply as i, too, feel like giving up. Lost a 20+yo partner last year, am flying every few weeks to care for a 90+yo family member with cognitive issues,, have no family as i enter this last chapter and feel very alone, knowing that no one will be able to help me when i can no longer take care of myself. Your comments give me hope that i might yet find some peace - thank you.
Happy 70th birthday, Susan! You make the world a better place for all of us following you on YT. I'm 71 and I can tell you that the 70's might be my favorite decade so far. I'm looking forward to all that's yet to come. We 70-somethings have a lot of living yet to do! Let's enjoy!
Hi Susan, my 1st husband told me all the time, that no other man would want me, but my 2nd husband was more attractive to me and he wanted me in our lives, he wanted me to have a wonderful life with him and me, and my 1st husband was really jealous of what we had together, and l had a better life with him and my children, hugsssss ❤❤❤
I have way too much life in me to even consider "cashing in my chips" as it were and I just turned 70 too, Susan. I still have so much I want to do and I, too, thank God for every day I have been given. God Bless you and Desi.
Hi Susan, Joan here. On a beautiful summer's day, I sit on my deck, trees, flowers sun shining and I say thankyou Mom for (now) at 75. Thankyou for 75 summers.
I have been so blessed. I have a wonderful husband, two beautiful grown children married to great spouses, and 9 living grandchildren. I had a sad childhood for years, I married a man who cheated on me, he abused me and became an alcoholic, and did the same to two other women. I am a survivor, I always say you can't appreciate the good if you never experience any bad. God has truly blessed me.
Susan, do you know the thing I love most about your videos? The interaction with gorgeous Desi🥰 I live alone with my Irish Red Setter, Cassie, and I talk to her all the time about all sorts, and she is extremely vocal in return. I love to laugh so the ‘conversation’ is comical, Cassie’s responses are so various but also so ‘on point’ that we end up having a riot😂🤣😂 I love Desi and his beautiful, expressive eyes, and oh my heart when I see him singing with you, and I hold my breath when he puts his head right back for the really high notes🥰 The love we have for our dogs keeps our heart space wide open and I see this in all my lovely fellow dog walkers. Is it any wonder that we grieve so hard when we lose them, no, it’s the price we pay for loving them. Sending you lots of love and happy times with Desi, I so enjoy your videos. From Scotland, UK 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
I love all you had to say about you and your dog. Cassie sounds wonderful. I bet she is your best buddy. I have a Yorkie who is my bestie. I lost the Shih-Tzu girl named Chloe right before Christmas last year and then the male Shih-Tzu Murphy I lost this year right before Thanksgiving. My yorkie is alone now(Sunny) and has been crying for his brother at night ever since he has been gone. I'm not getting much sleep lately because he keeps waking me. But everything you said hit home with me. I have always been a huge animal lover of all kinds. But dogs are my companion animal. I get everything you said. I love Desi also. I think he is so adorable. Love his eyes and his little mouth. So expressive. No matter how long we have them, it's never long enough. Hello to a fellow dog lover in Scotland from another crazy for dogs gal in Boston, Massachusetts
@ Thank you for your lovely response to my email🥰 Yes, like yourself I’ve loved animals, but especially dogs, all my life and in my day people would put their dog out before they went to work and bring it back in when they came home from work. So you would have these dogs running around in their own little gang, so I would bring them all together so that I could hang out with them ,and sneak biscuits plus anything else I could get my hands on to feed them with. I would stand at the top of my street and call each one by name , it felt so good when they would all come running🥰 They are indeed our best friends aren’t they, and our closest companions, and they know what we’re thinking even before we speak, it does make me laugh out loud when Cassie anticipates my every move. 😂 I’m aware of how painful it is when we lose our pets, it’s inevitable, and we’re never ready for it, but what sustains me is knowing that when I pass over I will be met by all my dogs, every single one, and oh the joy and the fun we’re going to have together. I know this for sure, and look forward to it. Just enjoy every day with your wonderful dog. Love and best wishes from Marina , Scotland, UK 🏴🇬🇧
The more you reveal and I learn about you, the more I like you! I identify with so much of what you share. I'm sure a lot of us do! Thank you for your openness and kindness. You do a really great job on your videos. Blessings!
I hope it warms up around there! I was in my 50's when I watched reruns of the tv show Rockford Files. I could say I had a crush on the character Jim Rockford, he had overcome injustice, he was smart, ethical, good to his dad, and NOT sleazy with women, and the actor was a handsome guy. I've been having those "good-bye" days a lot, I'll have a liver biopsy on Wed... I wish you a 70th year of health and happiness! Hugs to Desi.
Susan, those "goodbye" days could be a form of anticipatory grief. I had that off and on for years, and on the 15th my 100 year old mom passed. I was her caregiver for the past 10 years. But, I'm ok. She went peacefully. I will miss her. Thank you for video today. As always it was right on time.
Happy Birthday for that 70th ! I turn 70 in November. May all the years ahead of you be filled with good health and over flowing joy and God’s blessings.
Leaving your children behind when you are old is the natural order of things. Although your children and grandchildren will grieve you when you are gone, they will think of you with love and treasure the memory of you. My son died of suicide in September and I cannot accept his death. I miss him every day and feel endless guilt and what ifs. My parents died recently too, but I can accept their deaths because they were old and are now together. Don't fear death as an older person, it is sometimes better than the alternative.
At 75, I miss my energy and strength . I believe we are spiritual beings and we will not die. I believe in kindness and giving back . Sometimes if I see younger photos of myself, I d think , I was a pretty girl. But more importantly, I was always nice. I was a RN and had a fulfilling career, I never was blessed with biological children, but we adopted two babies within 4 yrs . Being a good example to them was our goal. And when your kids turn out to be good, kind, loving people, you know you were blessed. . Sending you light and love and a blessed new year.
Mine is Robert Redford too! I am having a tough time right now but I do not consider giving up. I feel so guilty for even saying I’m having a hard time because I am so blessed. My husband and I adore one another, my children are all doing well…I just can’t shake this depression. I am 66 and I have never had to deal with depression much. I think I’m just at a time in my life where I need to find a new purpose. I pray that God will lead me to that purpose soon. I look forward to your videos every week. I want to thank you for all the insight and positivity! I hope you have a wonderful birthday. You deserve the best!
Perhaps speak with your Dr about hormones and testing for low estrogen or others. Hope there are some things that help you to enjoy your family and life. ❤ 🙏🙏🙏
@@wildhorses6817I was going to suggest a possible hormonal cause, too! Also, to the original poster, if you are able to lighten someone's load just a little each day, including your husband or children, that is a wonderful purpose to have.
@wildhorses6817, @melinda johnson8586 I was about to say this, or actually wondering if I should. I have been able to recover from severe depression with eliminating refined sugars, refined grains, seed oils, and doing daily yoga stretches. Also eating estrogenic foods. It is very hard to have our hormones shut down at menopause. I have a very stressful life, and when my adrenals needed to kick in, after my ovaries were "done" -- they just didn't. But so much can be accomplished through mindful nutrition! I wish that I'd been a hormone replacement candidate, but there are other good options, too.
From one Melinda to another, I understand what you're saying. I'm 67 and already thinking about June 1st when I turn 68. I never had depression either. Suddenly I am down about my age. I'm very young at heart but my age doesn't fit who I feel I am. Maybe I need something in my life that makes me feel alive again, special. You may just be right and want purpose of some kind. If this goes on for awhile, talking to a good counselor can do wonders. But it needs to be a good one. If you get someone you feel isn't hearing you, switch until you feel your getting some place. This in itself could make you feel better. Talking to your Dr. can't hurt, just to rule out anything medical. God is listening, wishing you happiness and joy.
I’m 75 years young! I had a serious crush on Andy Williams! He was a fantastic singer and clean cut and very handsome! Every day is a gift at this age! And I start most days with this”This is the day the Lord hath made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Thank you for your lovely videos Susan! Shari
Just this afternoon driving home from shopping I was thinking about my birthday next week, 64, and then realized how many of my relatives were gone at this age. It was frightening thought until I realized I must be tough for God to allow me to be hear at this time. Happy Birthday Susan!
Happy Birthday next week. be blessed and celebrate your life! I relate to what you are saying, as many are gone in my Family also and I will be 70 in March!
A HS friend married Robert Redford's son, Jamie. Sadly he passed away much too early in life. The Redford family is a very very special one. Robert Redford was/is an absolute intelligent, smart, visionary, and yes, a very dashing man.❤
I loved this post. I will be 70 in May. This is one of the best times in my life. I plan to live many more years and enjoy each one. Thanks for your posts. I look forward to them each week.
@@DARLENEROSE-u9j I don't understand your comment. I think Dezi is adorable. He makes me smile each week. The way he chimes in singing with his mama is adorable. So sweet! 😊
@@DARLENEROSE-u9j How sad!!! It seems everyone loves Desi's singing except you. He shows no signs of distress when he sings or Susan sings, so perhaps you need to get some sun or eat some chocolate.
Happy Birthday , Susan. Just had birthday January 1st. And i am now 84 and enjoying life. Have a wonderful family of sons, their choice of mates , love them! Grandchildren and 4 little great grandkids. Became a widow in 2021 after a long marriage, a loving marriage. In 2023 a wonderful man came into my life and we are enjoying our time together so much. We have added such joy, love and happiness to our last chapter. Kevin Costner....love him!!
Boy did Desi belt it out at the very end! I am so grateful at being 69 and have purpose in my life. I do homecare for the elderly, which gives my life so much meaning!
Neither of my parents made it out of their 50s. My dad died at 55 and my mom died at 59. Because of that every moment in my 60s feels like a gift and I realize how lucky I am to still be here. We are the wise women that other cultures value and respect. Just because our society worships youth it doesn't mean we have no place here. I believe our wisdom is needed more then ever in this crazy world we live in.
Wise women that other cultures value and respect. Wisdom. Society does worship youth. It's all about looks. We are needed more then ever. Beautifully said. I so agree.
.happy birthday. I’ll be 84 in March. I’ve been a widow for 15 years. It’s been tough without him but I got to attend 5 grandchildren getting married. I have 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren now My lifetime crush was Paul Newman. When he passed my friends called and offered sympathy😊 I always admired Jackie Kennedy and her style. Love Desi singing
My father told me those same words, namely that I couldn't live without him. He was abusive and tried to keep me "small". But as the years went by, I knew I had to get away from him, strike out on my own, and live a joy-filled life. That's what keeps me going. I'm living my joy-filled life. He died in1993.
Susan, I look forward to your video every week. Thank you for being here and bringing us all together. I am 80 now and I don't plan on giving up - ever. I have lots of problems, but none are worth giving up for. Thank you to you and Desi. I really love his singing. ❤🙏❤
I am 66 and I have had this depression this past year and am struggling to get past it. I know this too will pass. You have the most soothing voice and thank you for being so transparent.
You are so kind!!! I said a prayer for you and I hope things will be was you want them to be...life is complicated...a great journey! Much love to you! Susan & Desi
You don't ever owe anyone on RUclips an explanation about anything. I look forward to your videos, it was good to hear Hal. Enjoy your birthday week Susan and Desi.
I met Robert Redford in 1972. He is every bit as magical as you can imagine. Also met Fay Dunaway on the set of '3 days of the condor'. In other news.....I think as a culture, we Americans are ingrained with the mindset 'Am I okay, am I doing it right, feeling right, covering all of the bases right?' We need to learn how to feel the 'flow', find joy in the moment, feel it deeply. There is no other YOU, enjoy who you are.
Happy Birthday, Susan! Tom Selleck is my man!! LOL! Such a great message in this video and I so needed to hear it! Thank you so much for sharing! I so look forward to your videos each week! Love to you and Desi! xo
Actor: Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility… the way he loved Marianne so deeply. The way he looked at her and wanted her to be happy❤ sigh❤
Happy birthday Susan! I turned 72 yesterday. My husband died last year. Life has to go on so I booked 4 cruises for this year. Hope I get to go on all of them. Hope you have a great birthday.
Oh my! Desi is truly a wolf at heart! It's such a joy to hear him sing every week. Dear Susan, I hope you have a fabulous birthday next Wednesday! I’ll be thinking of you, especially since it’s also my husband’s birthday. As for today’s video, once again, your words are truly thought-provoking. I love the way you embrace life with such warmth and positivity. Wishing you a wonderful week! 🥳🥳🥳
Best video ever! I needed to see this encouragement today! I also will be 70 this summer, family issues prevail, major back surgery 5 weeks ago, 9 screws, rods, etc and a long recovery road! I cannot give up on my health, my family issues, myself. Thank you so much from another Susan! You are inspirational and give hope in your words of wisdom🙏
Susan, this video truly hit home with me. I have mentioned before that you and I are the same age. (I'll be 70 in March). Those "goodbye" dates (or did you say days?) (doesn't matter) are so difficult to deal with. I'm getting better at shortening them. I refuse to waste the rest of my life by worrying about how short the rest of my life is. As far as my children being ok, I know I raised them to the best of my ability, and I taught them what is most important in life. I realize it is stupid to waste time being afraid to die because that won't stop it. Will my children and husband miss me? Of course they will. I miss my parents to everyday, but I still manage to lead a productive life. As far as how much time I may have left, I have no idea. I do want to live my life with intention. That is what I am trying hard to do in 2025 and there on out. Thanks Susie. I love you and Desi.
I really related to your message this week. Thank you! I'm entering my "later" years, but still feel like I'm in my 30's. I turned 55 in September, but sometimes can't find the energy to do everything I want. I will take the positive message you gave us all to carry on into the future knowing we can do this on our own strength. ❤
Thank you for talking about the Goodbye Days. I'm starting to experience them now, and they make me sad. When they come, I feel like it's all behind me and that there's not enough time left ahead of me. At those times, I have to do a lot of self-talking and remind myself that life is still good, and I'm still healthy.
I feel them now that I am 67. I was fine at fifty and sixty. I get down. Nothing new is happening. I feel the same about everything being all behind me now. Everything you said I relate to. Then I tell myself "You are doing pretty good" "Some people are very sick, or have no money to make the rent, "I'm not in the hospital" I can still walk my dog and play with him. It can get very hard, I talk myself down, and pray to God. I play all my favorite CD's and that can cheer me up. Often find a good movie on the TV and get lost in that. I love going shopping. Hang in there, we are a special group in todays world. {hugs}
@@BedfordFalls7 Thank you for your lovely, thoughtful comment. I agree with all your strategies, and I also find that one of the best therapies is to talk to friends my age (70) about such feelings. So many of us, it seems, are having the same thoughts, and it helps to know that we are not alone. And as you said, we are lucky to be healthy, active, and financially able to support ourselves.
Yes Susan I’m not giving up either. I promised my husband I would keep going and I am. I’m strong and I’m tough. I let things roll off my back. I lost him and I had a heart attack so I saw all my granddaughter fell. She’s 32 now she’s married and has two little kids. She’s the best thing that I have and my son she cried, and I cried when I didn’t think I was gonna make it. She said it’s a difficult operation. I made it and I try to walk and eat right and do what I have to do. Love your videos on Saturdaylove from South Dakota.❤
Good for you. Stay well. It’s been 8 yrs since I lost my hubs and it feels like months. I was 57 at the time and now 65. Let’s keep on truckin’ Take care and may God bless you. 😊🙏🇺🇸
I’m 69 with severe neuropathy from chemo. Many times I have thought about giving up, saying my good byes. But I want to live my best life with my children and grandkids that give me such joy. Yes, there is a calm at our age, we do prioritize what’s really important and let the bad stuff go. It’s just not worth getting upset about things we can’t control. Love you,Desi and your videos. So thank you for all that you do!❤😘
Hi Susan do I dare say how cold its been in Florida this wk and yet I love the pics of the Michigan winter that I must be mad to come home to❄️ Im hanging around to try and figure out how to get thru the next few yrs as much as Id like not to. For me I have learned that a legacy can be as simple as how you treated people, the kindness, the pay it forward, the smile, the laughter the forgiveness. One day at a time to give back has gotten me a long way. Sending lots of love and admiration from chilly Florida 🤍 🐾 ⛄️
I agree I felt the sexiest in my 30’s. My childhood was uneventful. I grew up in the 50’s and it was a time of being worry free. I went through the years enjoying my life and taking the days for granted. It seems different now that I’m 80 years old.
I taught my kid's to know God and to love Jesus Christ ❤, so when I pass on, they will never be alone! It's really important to me that they know how to pray ❤ and that they know their salvation is very important!
Such a lovely, open hearted video, Susan. You speak to my heart in many ways. Quoting "It was the best of times and it was the worst of times" rings so true to my childhood and my life. At 76, I can relate to your life in very many ways. Widowed over ten years ago, I live alone in a big house on five acres on which my husband and I built our house back in 1991. It's lonely but I feel safe here and I love it as much as I did when we first saw this property. Thank you for sharing your heart with us. I listened carefully to you through the entire video and wish to say that the person who stole your filming and your beautiful ideas to use as her own could never steal or match your intelligent, sweet, kind and beautiful self dear Susan.❤ Kathleen P.S. Dezi cheers me up every time I see him.😊. Oh, and what is the most hurtful to me is to be reminded and called out for the fact that I am only 4'9+". I have always had a nice figure and still do but it seems that height is of the utmost importance. That always makes me feel as if I should grow a beard and go join the circus. I cannot understand why people feel like insulting and humiliating me when I never, ever do that to anyone else.
For me, no question, it is Neil deGrasse Tyson, my personal astrophysicist! Brains, looks, heart, he's got it all, baby. Keep looking up! Style icon, Ali McGraw, who has survived and aged beautifully and with grace, a classic! Thanks for you and Desi singing!! Happy birthday to you...I turned 69 Jan 12th!!! ❤
I was 13 years old when I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. I fell in love with Paul McCartney! How could anybody be that good looking? Now I’m 73 years old, and I still think he is one of the finest men ever. Singer, songwriter, philanthropist, artist, author, family, man, etc. I still think he’s pretty cute too!
I sometimes wonder how some people could find anything to complain about watching one of your videos, then I remember why I don't see many people these days. You and Desi singing is a blessing. Your wholesome thoughts about "Goodbye Days" - I love that explanation and I'm putting it in my new journal, thank you for that. I'm 78 now and although it's only a number, some unwanted thoughts creep in from time to time. In Melbourne, Australia it is going to be 40 degrees tomorrow, so nothing like the temperatures you are enduring. Stay warm and give Desi a cuddle. x Barbara
I’ve always admired Keanu Reeves, not only for his movies, but for his great humanitarian ways of helping people and animals. I know your birthday is very close, Susan. I wish for you a beautiful, warm day, doing what you love, with Desi! Mine is not till next week. Always love you and Desi singing! Makes my week! Take care!💖☃️💖☃️🐾
This life, this story as sweet and as bitter, as happy and as sad as it is for all, is not the "main event". In those certain quite times, I have come to enjoy those good-bye moment's. Taking time to pause in gratitude for the time and experiences that were mine, then contently releasing what belongs to other's.
Susan, your channel is wonderful and reflective. Thank you for sharing your life with us. ❤ P.S. Beautiful lesson... She admired your talent and creativity. ❤
Hi! I enjoy our Saturday evening visits. I look forward to them. They are a highlight of my week. I have a few random thoughts. I sometimes think if I were to give up where would I go, what would I do? I may as well just keep plodding along. I am the same age as you. And like you I live alone with my dog and treasure my family. I was wondering one day what my purpose can be. Then I thought I have an opportunity to be a cheerleader to my family and everyone I meet. And so this is what I try to do. The cheerleading can take many forms, a smile, a kind word, gratitude and voicing the gratitude. I wish you a,wonderful week. And I look forward to our visit next Saturday. Thank you for being there. I appreciate you.
I'll never forget Robert Redford as the Sundance Kid! I was in high school and had a huge crush on him! Great choice Susan! Love to you and sweet Desi❤
I have an amazing and beautiful Dad. I look to the Heavenly Father, the Creator of all things for wisdom and understanding.✝️ Susan, I'm always in tears watching your videos. You touch my heart so deeply. You are the friend I wish I had near and dear. The Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, keeps me going; to Him I go for comfort and strength. May the Lord bless you and keep you.🙏🏽💞
@LittlePoet I turned 63 Jan 4th. I remember having pics from magazines of Robert Redford all over my locker & desk age 13. My fav scene is when he said "Ya think you used enough dynamite there Butch?" Even better than that movie was The Sting. Both with Paul Newman. Talk about dreamy men. 😍😄
You're one very beautiful soul, Susan, and an inspiration to all of us here. Thank you for the wonderful videos you put out each week. Have yourself a Happy, Happy 70th Birthday, my friend. With love, Susan ❤
I know what you mean about thinking of the "last days." They do come out of nowhere. I have to keep reminding myself of the fact that as a believer in Jesus I know where I'm going and where I'll live in eternity. As beautiful as the earth is, it can't compare to what we will see in our next life.
Who's your daddy? I had the best daddy in the whole wide world, but lost him when I was only 15 and he 46. Now my father is Our Father God, my best friend, our awesome God. Celebrity is Keanu Reeves, gorgeous person inside out, humble... Fashion inspirator: you, I love your taste, home, video's, the beautiful lady you are... ❤ Favorite dog: Desi!!! He is the best. I love him dearly ❤ 1st thing I do on a Sunday morning is watch you and Desi with excitement. You are a role-model and inspiration to me. Thank you! You mean so much to me. You make my day and week! May God bless and protect you, Desi and your loved ones indeed. Amen
Sue, I get so much hope to continue my life watching your channel. I am going through a hard time with my son, who cut me out of his life, and I can't see my beautiful 16 mouth old granddaughter. The pain is so great . Each day is a struggle.
I saw him downtown filming by the Chicago board of trade. He had a black eye, I said oh you have a black eye...I was star struck I suppose. The area was all blocked off and I wondered thru and that's when I saw him. So I was so surprised to have seen him, and said what I said.
@diane1833-l7z When my daughter was in Jr high she was standing on a street corner waiting to cross the street in our little Capitola Village in Calif, and he he drove up and they looked at each other, and he winked at her and drove off. She was so excited!!💕
I am 75 years young. I loved this video. I am quite a bit like you. I love bringing joy to people. I get joy from my family and friends and my sweet dog Sophie. Thanks for sharing.❤
There is no other you as a film creator! You are so talented! Happy Birthday! I enjoyed your table settings and your birthday necklace! Of course, Desi is as precious as always. Yes, we can’t give up! - Belinda

I so enjoy your videos every Sunday here in South Africa 🇿🇦 I'm going to be 60 in July and the last 15 years have taken a toll on my health and looks. 😢Struggling to survive 😪 I often wonder why on earth am I still here but then I'm reminded of my 89 year old Dad in UK and my 2 boys(26 & 30) in SA. But boy is life tough. My faith and family and little rescue Gracie keep me going. Much love to you and Dezzie ❤
Your videos are beautiful in all aspects: visuals, editing, music, deep insights, intelligence, honesty, uplifting warmth & humor. And, of course, precious Desi 🐶. You’re a gem 💎🌸
It's a hard one for me today. Older yes and the goodbye day. It was sad for me cause I lost my brother yesterday. His widow told me said never say goodbye but talk to you later. 😢 today was hard but Desi made me smile. Thanks ❤ I am tired thank you for sharing don't give up. Can't give up. 😢strong And learning. A warrior. Thank you . Yes we are needed. ❤
Hi Susan! I have to agree with you on that handsome Robert Redford! He was just a beautiful man! I loved Clint Eastwood also, as he was just so dang cool! Such a great video this week. This time next week, I will be moving into my new apartment, and I just ask for prayers from you and all the beautiful ladies that visit you each week that I can get it done! Moving at 65 is something I never thought I’d be doing! Life is just full of surprises isn’t it? It’s all good!! Desi was adorable this week…AS USUAL! ❤
I guess there are a lot of us out there in our 70s with the same story. Your story really resonated to me as I also was born out of wedlock, and my mother lied to me and never told me the truth until she was dying. But by then she couldn’t remember a lot of details. I too, was told that I would never amount to anything, and I too proved them wrong. I am now 79 and I have to say it is getting harder to have the optimistic life that I want. I haven’t given up but it is hard. I have two sweet great-grandchildren and I know I need to be there for them. I just love you and Desi singing at the end. He is so precious.
My style Icon would have to be Audrey Hepburn with her French styles, white button down blouses and just her style in general. I can agree with Robert Redford, too. I remember those magazines back in the 60’s where our models were Twiggy, etc. And we did look at those magazines and wish we looked like those models- too skinny!! And I was never that. And now I’m ok with that. You are a beautiful lady and I love these videos. Thank you! I too was a dreamer, and a people pleaser. Not a good way to be.
Yes! The Goodbye Days. Thank you for putting a great title to them. As a Christian, I know that this is not my true home but I thank God on those Goodbye Days (after shedding a few tears for exactly the reasons you gave) for giving me this wonderful place to journey through life. And these wonderful people to journey with. It reminds me of the Our Town quote: “Oh earth, you’re too wonderful for anyone to realize you.” ❤
Happy birthday Susan! I hope your special day is filled with love, joy, fun , and lots of celebration. You give such a positive perspective on getting older, I also get such a joy hearing you and Desi sing. It really warms my heart.
Just finished watching a favorite movie of mine, Shirley Valentine, on RUclips. I hadn't seen it for many years. I've always loved the message and the ending, and the song with the lyrics that grab my heart, 'The Girl that used to be Me.'
Dear Susan, my mother raised my sister and I with the "you can never be too thin" mentality. It did a number on both of us. My sister just finished a horrific year of cancer treatments....she lost some weight....my mother told her she never looked better. Crazy, huh? Love your videos, Kathy from Pennsylvania ❤❤😊😊😊 ?
After coming here last March and asking for prayers for my daughter, who was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer( She lost one Ovary and tube) and so many people were kind and prayed for her. Well, I'm happy to come here tonight and say today we had her gender reveal party because she's pregnant with their first son. Thank all of you who said a prayer because it was malignant but hadn't spread. I feel blessed. Thank you, Susan, for having a safe space to hold here for us mature women. XO ~lori
His kindness endures forever ❤
❤️❤️❤️
So happy for and your daughter.God bless
Praise the Lord your daughters cancer was contained. I’m praying now since I missed this previously. I hope she is healing nicely
What wonderful news!
Love your comment and such amazing parallels! 😄👍
@@Cindy-bee goodness!! You sound like me, too! Turned 70 in Sept., two kids, RN retired, also have rescue dog who can’t sing but barks EVERY time my husband sneezes. Wonder how many of us are out there…lol!
You go girl! Thank you for sharing your story with us. It’s so encouraging to know we have it in us to make a great life.
@@treshamassey804 I am guessing many of us out there. Happy retirement to you. Rescue dogs are the best.
Here here for confident women!!👏👏👏
Please always sing at the end with Desi. It does my heart good❤️🐾
He is so cute to me when he throws his head back!!!

Oh my, your reference to Robert Redford brought back a memory.
Years ago I was on a flight from Los Angeles to Miami. I was in 1st class and Robert Redford and a younger lady were in the row in front of me. Two nice things stand out:
@jasminaboulanger7525 great memory to have!
You know , it just occurred to me that when I look at Robert Redford in recent photos, I still see the gorgeous man in “ The Way We Were “ ! Same way with my husband and me. We look at each other in our 80’s with our eyes, but our hearts see us in our 30’s.
@@sharondoan1447 What a lovely thing to say about the relationship with your husband .You are truly blessed.
Always Harrison Ford!! Gorgeous fierce, flawed, funny and I think--very kind.
That is hilarious!
Best story ever.
Me too!
Never give up! Im here and we all are here for you
your comment touches me deeply as i, too, feel like giving up.
Don’t despair. You’re not alone.
I remember they said to you. You would never buy a house. You proved them wrong. You inspired me to save to buy my house too. Thanks
🥳💖🥳💖✨🎉🎉
Hi Susan, my 1st husband told me all the time, that no other man would want me, but my 2nd husband was more attractive to me and he wanted me in our lives, he wanted me to have a wonderful life with him and me, and my 1st husband was really jealous of what we had together, and l had a better life with him and my children, hugsssss ❤❤❤
I have way too much life in me to even consider "cashing in my chips" as it were and I just turned 70 too, Susan. I still have so much I want to do and I, too, thank God for every day I have been given.
God Bless you and Desi.
Happy belated birthday, JenniferLee🎂 Here's to living our best lives in this new chapter! I'll be joining soon!
Hi Susan, Joan here. On a beautiful summer's day, I sit on my deck, trees, flowers sun shining and I say thankyou Mom for (now) at 75. Thankyou for 75 summers.
Giving up is not an option!! Desi gave it his all in singing, great job ❤️
I always say the same thing... Peace
Jim Rockford was James Garner. Such a handome, fine actor and he looked a lot like my own daddy !!!!
I loved Rockfish also! I wish you the best results from your liver biopsy and I send you a BIG HUG!
Prayers for you that all will go well with you. Wishing you the best of health.
prayers to you and a good outcome!
If I'm watching TV, its Rockford :)
So sorry for your loss x
My sincere sympathy for the loss of your mother. It sounds like she was blessed to have you.
I care for my mom and I go through anticipatory grief too. Your statement gives me hope that I will be ok too when that day comes.
I'm so sorry for your loss. God bless you and yours.✝️🙏
Thank you.❤@@Julie-si3hi
Happy Birthday for that 70th ! I turn 70 in November.
May all the years ahead of you be filled with good health and over flowing joy and God’s blessings.
I turned 70 in November as well.. 🧡 Happy Birthday to you!
I'm so sorry for your great losses.✝️🙏
I am so sorry for your loss.
DON'T give up!!! I look forward to your videos on Saturday evenings. This is a GREAT video. Shalom
It certainly is…it hit on all the things I think about these days..
@@melindajohnson8586 Have you doctor check your thyroid and your vit d…so important to our mental health. Hope you feel better ❤️❤️❤️
Shari
Oh, yes, Andy Williams too!!
🥰😊😍
Just this afternoon driving home from shopping I was thinking about my birthday next week, 64, and then realized how many of my relatives were gone at this age. It was frightening thought until I realized I must be tough for God to allow me to be hear at this time. Happy Birthday Susan!
Happy Birthday next week. be blessed and celebrate your life! I relate to what you are saying, as many are gone in my Family also and I will be 70 in March!
Happy Birthdays to us, I'll be 64 on the 29th
Happy birthday to us! I turned 63 on the 20th…

wow!!!!!!!
I loved this post. I will be 70 in May. This is one of the best times in my life. I plan to live many more years and enjoy each one. Thanks for your posts. I look forward to them each week.
You and Desi are such a hoot. I just had to add this comment because I laugh at the end of all your videos watching sweet little Desi sing with you.
It hurts his ears! Very upsetting...not entertaining 😢

Richard Gere for one, just something about his smile and demeanor and he is such an excellent actor! Thanks for all the inspiration!

Happy Birthday, Susan! You are as beautiful as a movie star. 🎉⭐️❤
I have 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren now
My lifetime crush was Paul Newman. When he passed my friends called and offered sympathy😊
I always admired Jackie Kennedy and her style.
Thank you for sharing your story....we all have these amazing obstcales we overcame...we are o strong..much love and admiration for you..xxoo Susan

You don't ever owe anyone on RUclips an explanation about anything. I look forward to your videos, it was good to hear Hal. Enjoy your birthday week Susan and Desi.
All you do is GIVE, Susan. You owe nothing. Just watching your videos is a gift to me.
Love to you and Desi! xo
Another chance to toss in one more birthday wish, Susan! 🤣 I think that Richard Gere has aged well!

There are many many of us subs that love and appreciate you more than you could ever know. Thank you and Desi for all you share 🥰🥰🥰
I am so honored to share with you!!! Desi is rehearsing for his St Pat's Day Song! Much love! Susan & Dez
I feel them now that I am 67. I was fine at fifty and sixty. I get down. Nothing new is happening. I feel the same about everything being all behind me now. Everything you said I relate to. Then I tell myself "You are doing pretty good" "Some people are very sick, or have no money to make the rent, "I'm not in the hospital" I can still walk my dog and play with him. It can get very hard, I talk myself down, and pray to God. I play all my favorite CD's and that can cheer me up. Often find a good movie on the TV and get lost in that. I love going shopping. Hang in there, we are a special group in todays world. {hugs}

Susan,
You are like a warm hug on a very cold Sunday morning.
Thank you

I agree I felt the sexiest in my 30’s. My childhood was uneventful. I grew up in the 50’s and it was a time of being worry free. I went through the years enjoying my life and taking the days for granted. It seems different now that I’m 80 years old.
I have moments when I worry if my family will be ok when I’m gone. I just pray that they can remember me and smile.
Susan, I appreciate that you share your struggles, but you never let them defeat you. That’s so amazing! Thanks for another wonderful video.
I remember that day well too! When I was 13........
Stay warm and give Desi a cuddle. x Barbara
Wow, thank you for the kind words Barbara! Stay cool in Melbourne.
Mine was James Gardner, sooo good looking and funny too...love hearing Desi❤❤❤
That sweet little hand reaching for one of grandma’s treats. Too sweet.❤
We don’t quit because our children are watching us.
😂👍🏼
Susan, your channel is wonderful and reflective. Thank you for sharing your life with us. ❤
I appreciate you.
what beautiful thought on "your purpose"!
Susan the smile on your face when Desi starts singing is so sweet. We can all feel the love that you two share. Happy Birthday dear friend.
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
I'll never forget Robert Redford as the Sundance Kid! I was in high school and had a huge crush on him! Great choice Susan! Love to you and sweet Desi❤
I have an amazing and beautiful Dad. I look to the Heavenly Father, the Creator of all things for wisdom and understanding.✝️
Susan, I'm always in tears watching your videos. You touch my heart so deeply. You are the friend I wish I had near and dear.
The Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, keeps me going; to Him I go for comfort and strength.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.🙏🏽💞
No man will Ever replace Robert Redford. It's his mouth, hair, voice, elegance, Whole persona. The only man that comes close is Brad Pitt. 😍
agree!!!!
This video is so inspiring Susan. I feel I grow wiser with every Saturday episode thank you Susan and Desi ❤
Susan, you are such a blessing to all of us ❤
Don’t die before you are dead ❤
I love this...we have to live big and loud!!!
Happiest of birthdays, Susan. Congratulations on turning 70❤🎉
Dear Susan, I wished you HB last week but adding another! You're a bright star! 🎊🌟🌠💝 SO glad you're YOU!!
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Bravo!!!! It feels to talk about those rare days when we feel like we are leaving on a jet plane in the morning!
Lucky Desi with his heated blanket and his panda.
I liked your response to Robert Redford.
Stay warm it seems it's cold all over.
Favorite dog: Desi!!! He is the best. I love him dearly ❤
1st thing I do on a Sunday morning is watch you and Desi with excitement. You are a role-model and inspiration to me.
Thank you! You mean so much to me. You make my day and week!
May God bless and protect you, Desi and your loved ones indeed. Amen
You had me at Keanu Reeves.......oh yes...yes..!!!!!!
Sending Birthday Blessings. Have a beautiful day.🎉🎉🥳🥳
Sue, I get so much hope to continue my life watching your channel. I am going through a hard time with my son, who cut me out of his life, and I can't see my beautiful 16 mouth old granddaughter. The pain is so great . Each day is a struggle.
So sorry to hear that. My sister also suffers from that. Just keep praying and don't lose hope.
Tom Selleck all the way for years!! He's almost 80 and still handsome!💕
He said "hello" to me once and WOW. He made me feel beautiful just with that hello.
Amen to that!!
- Belinda
Knew Susan would buy that pitcher when I spotted the blue pottery! Was that a cameo by Dear Hal?! 💙

Happy Birthday!❤
So cool!
I full heartedly agree 💗
It's a hard one for me today. Older yes and the goodbye day. It was sad for me cause I lost my brother yesterday. His widow told me said never say goodbye but talk to you later. 😢 today was hard but Desi made me smile. Thanks ❤ I am tired thank you for sharing don't give up.
Can't give up. 😢strong
And learning. A warrior.
Thank you . Yes we are needed. ❤
I am so sorry...sending love and hugs. I am here for you.. and Desi sends all his love too.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Susan, you inspire me so much! I just had my 79th and I feel happy and blessed! Yes! I have problems that pop up but we DO PREVAIL! Thank you!
I am so happy you are here! I love your story.
Dear Susan, my mother raised my sister and I with the "you can never be too thin" mentality. It did a number on both of us. My sister just finished a horrific year of cancer treatments....she lost some weight....my mother told her she never looked better. Crazy, huh?
Love your videos, Kathy from Pennsylvania ❤❤😊😊😊
