I was on Wellbutrin for 7 years before any doctor thought to ask what time I was taking it and informed me I should not intact be taking it before bed.
ADHD stimulant medications help me sleep. They make it so I can do all my thinking earlier in the day, and when they wear off, they give me a crash that calms my brain and body down so I feel like going to sleep.
Which do you take? When I take vyvanse 30 at 0900 I’m literally up until 0100 doing all the things. Major crash though afterwards. Considering a switch to the long continuous release type.
Thank you Ethan for educating the general public about medications. A lot of people don’t ask for consultations in the community setting. But having this platform will help people be more aware of their medications
Thanks for sharing! I’m in nursing school right now and it’s great to learn/have refreshers on medications for my own knowledge and to improve my patient teaching skills :)
Strangely enough, I take methylphenidate for my ADHD and it has dramatically made my sleep better. I've always been really restless at night so it pets me chill out enough to actually sleep.
Same. I got onto sleep meds before I was diagnosed, had to go through a few adjustments to get them just right. Finally got diagnosed and got on meds, and now I have to take less of my sleep meds. I still occasionally have sleepless nights, but not nearly as many as I used to.
I miss my Wellbutrin 😢 It worked so well fory fibromyalgia, till it didn't, I mean it was still doing its job, my pain was almost non existent but i suddenly had strange reactions to it after a few years, deep in the large muscles of my thighs started to itch intensely almost like my thigh bones were itching. I would pinch big parts of the muscle in the area to try and reach the itch to make it stop, the tops of my thighs were so bruised and swollen but nothing helped, it was like a phantom itch. It stopped when i stopped the Wellbutrin 😢 Now my wandering pain is back, not sleeping is back, the headaches are back, lack of focus is back...my new normal again😓
If you get overheated, acetaminophen and antidepressants and levothyroxine (thyroid hormone) make it worse. Also certain antidepressants also limit libedo. In general, it's always good to look up side effects of medications. Sometimes they really have an impact.
And this is why they gave me Welbutrin for my Idiopathic Hypersomnia. (Bonus treats my ADHD, which i hadn't tried to medicate in years due to bad reactions to stimulants, but that was unplanned extra benefit.)
I take bupropion and I honestly don’t feel like it gives me the energy everyone talks about. I fall asleep so easily. I take in the morning and I see no difference as I am still sleepy or tired throughout my day
Buspirone, montekulast, gabapentin, lisinopril. I'd guess one of these is doing it for me. Ugh I wish I could sleep like other people. I'm lucky if I get 4h to 6h a night, and never solid either
@@welcometorenland For a while I’ve been using Trazodone. Prob the best antidepressant I have ever taken for sleep, it is a sedative but it works well. But yeah sleep is hard even for me. I found the 40mg of Biphentin stopped me from sleeping. Though Risperidone really just sedates me but makes me not sleep
Same,I rarely get more sleep than that. Propranolol, furosemide, potassium and albuterol were ready a drag. But the hormone suppressor for breast cancer letrozole really messes up my sleep and metabolism.
@judithsixkiller5586 oh no. Sending gentle hugs and extra love your way. My problem is just an autoimmune, ehlers danlos. Sucks, but I have felt this way as long as I can remember. I'm so sorry, you'll be in my thoughts for sure babe
@@welcometorenland Thanks, the letrozole is supposed to be just a precaution since I had the surgery a year ago. But I'm going to try to get them to switch it out with another drug that I saw a yt video about because I don't want to go 4 more years without a decent night's sleep, catching every flu around and gaining more weight. They want me to take statins since it's made my cholesterol rise, but statin gave my mom serious side effects. It's hard to trust these Doctor's who never want to listen or be straightforward that some of these meds can cause more harm than good,or that they literally have no idea what kind of interactions can happen when they keep piling ever more combinations of prescriptions on you that haven't been researched in use together. We are all practically lab rats.
Im up trying to figure out why im sirll up because im sick and should need more sleep. Sudafed. Tomorrow i will only take it until the afternoon. Thank you!
For Furosomide, it’s best to take it late afternoon.. as you’ll be peeing a lot for the next 6hrs.. as that’s how long this affects your bowels.. remember, 6hrs of almost non-stop peeing..
Antidepressants are a trip. I take my Effexor (Venlafaxine) at night because it makes me drowsy, but Wellbutrin in the morning because it doesn’t cause any side effects. 😂
Yes! I can't take the tapered prednisone pack because it sends my bp sky high and makes me super jittery and unable to sleep. It was awful! I have to be prescribed a smaller dose and certain number of tablets which of course the dose is tapered over the course of taking it, which I tolerate well. Thankfully i rarely need it.
Some of the quinolone antibiotics change your sleep patterns also. When I got covid 4 years ago I was taking levofloxacin for a week and slept just 2-3 hours every night that week without any consequences at daytime
can prednisone give you anxiety? i had a taper and honestly, didn’t take it correctly. i broke out in a rash on my face, felt hot, and felt horribly anxious! i have no idea what happened!
Yeah, I just got off a course of prednisone, and it made me super depressed and anxious. Also if you broke out in a rash, you should consider yourself allergic, and be very careful with taking related steroids
The irony of me trying to take Sudafed to clear my stuffed nose so that I could try to sleep….only for the heart palpitations to keep waking me up at night lmao. (Halving the regular dose helped though.)
what the hell! I already struggle with delayed melatonin release, and I'm taking fluoxetine! I'm gonna try taking it around lunch and see if that helps.
Finasteride. It's intended use is for BPH (enlarged prostate) but is used for hair loss as well. You can get a 30 day supply as low as $16 without insurance. *in commercial voice* "Ask your doctor today if finasteride is right for you."
Question: Did you ever get tongue tied trying to say all the medication names? Every time I have to list my dad's medication...I panic but everyone just laughs and say it is okay. lmao
I was on Wellbutrin for 7 years before any doctor thought to ask what time I was taking it and informed me I should not intact be taking it before bed.
I’m so sorry 😂
me too was wide awake now try to take it earlier
ME TOO HOLY SHIT i took it every night for YEARS and wondered why i had insomnia 🤦🏻♀️
Good information thank you

I had the same reaction, apparently it happens to a small % of us, most people struggle sleeping.
SAME!
Lol not me on both buproprion AND fluoxetine lol
Omg *thank you.*

Lol at Adderall. It's the biggest reason I fall asleep in 30 minutes instead of hours.
I can literally nap after taking it. 80HD is a ride.
It’s sometimes hard to fall asleep on them, but when you do, it’s the best sleep ever.
There’s a few different types of ADHD so sometimes people will be affected by the stimulant and others not
I can’t believe the first two he names are my meds 😭 And that’s why my ass is on trazodone too 🤣

The gabapentin should be putting you to sleep

And terbutaline! They gave it to me for preterm labor and I was SO wired.

yes it can cause anxiety in some patients

Take my bupriprion at 430am, nap at 2pm, bed by 8 ❤
I sleep too much

Sudafed can cause ANXIETY. So be careful.
I immediately thought of presnisone lmao
Is it the same with Biphentin and Zoloft? They kinda gave me a mixture of those and Risperidone and I can’t sleep.
Singulair does it too
Methylphenidate is a killer dude!
So if im on montelukast ( a steriod ) for asthma, is it bad that im taking it right before bed? Thats when the pulminologist said to take it?
I wish it was as simple as a medication keeping me up at night. Trazodone helps…. Sorta
I actually take my Venlafaxine at night so I don't sleep as much bc I tend to have hypersomnia 🤭
Who's watching this at 3:30am 🙋♀️
Is there any other hair growth medication other than rogaine?
5% Minoxidil is the active ingredient in Rogaine. So, any product that lists this as its active ingredient should work the same as rogaine.
Finasteride. It's intended use is for BPH (enlarged prostate) but is used for hair loss as well. You can get a 30 day supply as low as $16 without insurance. *in commercial voice* "Ask your doctor today if finasteride is right for you."
What if i take both those anti depressants? 💀
Although, thankfully I take them not to long after I wake up in the morning lol.
i take two luvoc before i go to bed... that would do it
Question: Did you ever get tongue tied trying to say all the medication names? Every time I have to list my dad's medication...I panic but everyone just laughs and say it is okay. lmao
Prednisone and Adderall make me so tired
Please explain why stimulants put me to sleep? I can take a 12 hour Claritin D and sleep like a baby.
Adderall makes me sleep all day. I can't take it.
I take 2 of those adderall and Wellbutrin, i soeep just fine .
Note: MANY ADHD PEOPLE HAVE UNUSUAL OR OPPOSITE REACTIONS TO STIMULENTS AND SOMETIMES ALSO SEDITIVES! IF CAFFINE MAKES YOU SLEEPY GET TESTED FOR ADHD
