- This is a time-lapse video of the Black Pearl from Pirates of the Caribbean wooden ship model build. I started building on February 23, 2023 and finished on April 27, 2023.
The Black Pearl (formerly known as the Wicked Wench) is a fictional ship in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. In the screenplay, the ship is easily recognized by her distinctive black hull and sails. Captained by Captain Jack Sparrow, the Black Pearl is said to be "nigh uncatchable".

This is excellent. You really made a very detailed bit of work on the ship, clearly are a great floaty thing builder. I love the coffee ground barnacles…will use that for my 1/72 kit build. Cheers!🙂

Looks amazing i unfortunately don't have the money or acquired patience for a build like that at the moment however in Christmas of 2021 i purchased the black pearl and flying dutchman from cubic fun foam puzzles on Amazon and considering those were my first 2 technical ship builds there pretty good on detaile for me and i enjoy them just as much both took me about 2 to 3 months to make between a bit here and there after work but i know those models can easily be 1 year projects or longer depending on the model and scale of detail but amazing work and i love your idea for the barnacles and for the cannons really adds some extra custom depth in the model you wouldn't see on someone else's per say

what piece of equipment dud you use for the water line you put in? its an amazing build!!!
Thank you. It is basically a pencil holder for ship model waterline. You can get from major ship model kit manufacturers or model-expo. Or you can simply make it by using a c clamp with a stable stanchion to hold a pencil. Good luck
Laser cutting of the pieces from balsa wood will certainly speed up the process of ship building.
you did an amazing work !! how long did it take you to finish the ship and if you consider its difficult to assemble all the pieces of the ship ??
Thank you. About 2 hours per day for about 2 months. This kit is a mid-level difficulty for me.

@@themastrelmatadordelmar544 hi there, the real ratline distances are 12" to 15" apart, base on the scale you can do the math. For smaller scales, it is kinda impossible to have them scaled. I usually do whatever I think it looks good. Some parts from the kit are out of scale anyway. Enjoy your black pearl build, my friend.

Hi Nicolas, my deluxe edition was okay. The CNC and 3d printed parts were well packaged. The wood material quality could be better for sure. I upgraded the rigging and some of the sail blocks in my build. If you are building the black Pearl for the first time, I recommend the ZHL golden version at Model Expo. It is a better and bigger kit of cause at higher cost. Good luck building!

Brass Ager or brass darkening solution. You can get it from Amazon depending on your location or from eBay. Good luck building.

how many times have you built the same kit? I built the same kit and found that the rigging plan was confusing, so I modified base on a plan of another kit
One time for this Black Pearl. I agree that the rigging plan could be better. I tried my best to follow the plan but came up with my own imagination too. Good luck building!

The standard version does NOT have the metal and 3D printed fittings. My build was from a Deluxe version. Good luck building!

This is amazing. Very beautiful model. However, I do have a few minor complaints.
Firstly: One thing everyone gets wrong about the Pearl is the colour of her masts. Several shots in PotC 2, we see them as this…. Birch colour, whole other films, we see a dark colour, but not as dark as her hull and deck.
Secondly: the Pearl has dark sails. That’s what makes her iconic. But those dark sails have patchwork. While you have done the patchwork, the patching of the sails don’t match completely. There are light grey to almost the identical colour the sails.
Finally: the dry brushing. I mean, you did a great job, but the colours used? Ehhh…..
Call me a nitpick, but this model is still brilliant. Sorry for being an Inconvenience. Keep up the good work!
Wow, thank you for the comments. I have to admit that you payed great attention to every inch in the movie. I consider myself an EZ (easy) builder who is not professional(Not yet). I want my videos to be something like display on the model box. everytime I see a display finished model on a model kit box, I thought I could do a better job than that. I do NOT want to build a perfect model in my video, instead I want to my audience to think they can do a better model but inspired by what I did.

What brand is this and where did you get it from? I can’t find the Black Pearl anywhere and the only brand I can find is the ZHL and I keep seeing comments not to buy the ZHL brand because it’s a ripoff. Can’t seem to get any clear answers.
Hello, I purchased from AliExpress. You can find the link in the video description. The ZHL is the bigger scale and better quality kit than the one I built. Personally I have not done the ZHL kit. But I have seen some very good build in Facebook groups and ship of scale forum out of the ZHL kit. Btw, there are not many options for the black Pearl wood kits. Good luck and enjoy your building.
