    My first Fish Story happened when I was a kid fishing with my Dad, Mom and Brother, fishing with a cane pole for sheepshead! I caught 9 fish on one drop… no, I didn’t hook a stringer of fish and it wasn’t a sheepshead… it was a pregnant stingray that gave birth to 8 live babies when dad brought her into the boat! Babies were released but Mama Ray ended up as crab bait for my grandfather who was a commercial fisherman… I was about 10 at the time… fun memory!

    • @CaptCollier
      @CaptCollier  2 года назад +3

      Wow, I’m sure that was a serious fight there lol. It’s crazy you mention that because every time of catch one of those big stingrays like that they all spit out babies when you land them

    Awesome video. As someone who has always fished 10lb plus cats on cane poles my only advice is stay at the end of the pole and keep line under 2/3 the length. Make em fight the pole not your triceps.

    I just did some fishing off a saltwater pier yesterday and I had no luck with a regular rod and actually lost my brand new Diawa BG 3500 reel hub reaching my rod down towards the pylon. My drag knob came loose, lost that but was able to recover the hub by retrieving the line, got lucky. There was one time when I saw a gentleman using a bamboo pole and I had no clue why you would use one, until he was pulling black drums and sheepies off the Daytona Fishing Pier. After no luck yesterday trying to catch Sheepshead, I gave this method a second thought and decided to do a RUclips search. Coming across your video clearly convinces me that this method makes perfect sense. Thanks for posting, I am now looking to purchase the ideal bamboo rod I can use on the pier. If you can make any recommendations, please do. Thanks

    Ya I think in Florida you don’t need a fishing license to use one unless they changed it that’s what it was wen I fished years ago

    • @CaptCollier
      @CaptCollier  2 года назад

      Hmm interesting, I would think you’d still need a license, especially if you were to keep any fish
