I've been looking into trying and plant some chestnuts and have heard the squirrels love them, but that's crazy that they would chew through a plastic lid. Hopefully it goes better this year!
You looking for the chestnuts reminds me of a FOD walk on an aircraft carrier. Could you plant any sort of flowers and plants that somehow dissuade the squirrels and deer from coming into your yard? Where will you plant any new sprouts?
At least no one’s life is on the line if I miss a chestnut 🌰 🙃. This year has been pretty frustrating with deer eating many of our plants. We have tried sprays and powders to keep them away but they seem to be very temporary. We are considering changing out a bunch of plants to ones they don’t like. I plan on planting a couple of chestnut trees on the edge of the lawn. Hopefully I have others, and I plan to give those away to others in the area.
Really nice tree! Wish you luck growing these. Do you know if the tree is a hybrid or not? Considering it could be a American Chestnut x European Chestnut hybrid. ( Because the european chestnut is really similiar and grows about the same size in its natural form and i have read that such Euroamerican hybrids also grow faster)
Unrelated question to the vid. But do you have an NDA or is it possible for you to tell us why you removed your review of ANTHBOT? if they are promising stuff they cant hold, you could save alot of money for people who might not get what they pay for.
I agreed to give ANTHBOT time to reply to my first draft of the video and give them a chance to improve. I waited a week but they didn't respond so I posted the video. After I posted they responded to me and are working on updates to improve the operation of the mower. I agreed to hold the video while they work on the update.
Used to have tons of chestnut trees on Mitchell St when I was a kid. Blight got them all.
That is a shame. The same thing is now happening with all of the ash trees.

Thanks for checking in. Please give it a try, maybe we can add a few trees back.

Thank you. I contacted the American Chestnut Foundation and they thought it wasn't a hybrid based on the age.

Why not stratify them in your refrigerator?
I tried that once but it didn’t work for me.
Why did you remove the anthbot robot test video? 🤔
I agreed to allow ANTHBOT time to try to resolve the issues.
