I’m 17, and I started doing my chores like doing my own laundry just so that my mom can’t do all the work in the house, I was oddly confused on what goes where. This actually helped a lot 😁
I mean many do it wrong so there’s a lot of confusion spread around :) also in the very past they did handwash a lot, no need for separating anything. So actually it’s not getting lost as it wasn’t there to begin with 🤪
This was made at the very beginning of the pandemic when we were put in quarantine and still trying to figure out ways to teach functional living skills to our special needs students. Thanks for the positivity! Have a wonderful day :-)
Reminds me of videos from the channel 'Dad, how do I?' for people who never got taught certain things by any sort of father figure. This was helpful, thank you.

Thank you for explaining this basic knowledge. Separating clothes is the best way to keep your clothes looking their best and save money not having to replace clothes. My kids learned to do laundry in Elementary school and it was one of the best life skills they learned. They are in college now and are amazed at how many for their classmates still do not do their own laundry. Parents please teach and let your young kids make mistakes at first, the self confidence they gain will offset any clothes that may need to be replaced while learning, besides nowadays clothes are so cheap at thrift stores if they really need to replace something!
I'm autistic af and this helped alot because I feel like no one ever gives a visual of what goes where so this was good. Thank you I am more confident now in my decisions!
Thanks Jessica , whenever I ask my mom questions about laundry and taking care of my clothes she gets really mad like I’m bothering her but I just have simple questions as If i should have been born with the knowledge instilled in me
I'm embarrassed to say as a 24-year-old that this is the simplest and most useful tutorial on RUclips for laundry 😂😅 Recently I had a plum coloured scarf bleed on some of my favourite peach clothing so i guess I'm learning how to properly separate colours now
I've recently stopped sorting my clothes by color after finding out that cloths don't bleed dye after a few washed, your be find throwing in a red with a bunch of whites as long as the red has been washed a couple of times. As long as your not being new clothes every week sorting clothes by color is really just a time waster
Few washing wont do anything. But f you regularly do this. You will see that the light colored clothes will start getting darker and while onces either dark or pinkish if u put it with red. So doing it ofter will lead u to that.
I really never did my own laundry So glad to see this thanks Everyone I ask says it’s simple Just throw all the clothes together and wash I’m like u don’t separate ? Nope! Guess they don’t do it right lol
OMG UR FAVORITE SHIRT IS INDIANA I HAVE A SIGN THAT HAS THAT ON IT. Also thank you this is just what I needed I have a lot of questionably colored clothes
I came here for a red shirt I have to wash I usually wear black, grey, or blue but recently gotten a red shirt for work and didn't know what to wash it with.
So I was nervous about washing clothes without help for the first time in years and i started sorting through my wifes clothes and my own to find out we have 85% dark clothing 🤣
So, you wash towels and washcloths by color? Jeans with a dark dress shirt? Sorting by color is but one step. Red is a bright, brights go together, unless ofc it's a red towel, which creates a ton of lint and should be washed with hot water while that red shirt with cold.
What about a white dress that has bright flowers on it? It's new so I don't want to wash it and the white to be ruined and turn like, gray'ish... Help! 😭
Aside from lights/darks the towels and delictes(button down shirts and office pants) are put in separate baskets in my home. Is this necessary? There are a few colors that are too close to the lighter side(creamy green or light pink for example) where it sits on the fine line between light and dark, thus making it confusing to sort
This should really be a class taught in high school 😂 here I am 28 years old watching this video cause I’ve been doing it wrong my whole life lol.
I am actually watching this for high school
Or should be broadcasted on PBS
Have a whole semester dedicated to putting clothes in a specific group?…
Same age, same problems..😂
Same :) I've ruined a few t-shirts now. So I finally got tired of it and came here.

Lmao same
@iamme25yago"You're not like me so you must be behind!" is a pretty immature world view
It is so crazy that something as simple as separating laundry is lost on most of us. Anyway, thanks for the breakdown :)
I mean many do it wrong so there’s a lot of confusion spread around :) also in the very past they did handwash a lot, no need for separating anything. So actually it’s not getting lost as it wasn’t there to begin with 🤪
This is exactly what I needed. Thank you

I've had to rejuvenate my braincells whilst attempting to comprehend the forbidden art of laundry separation. This has helped, a lot; thank you.

You just taught me in two minutes what I've been wondering most of my adult life. Thank you!

As a single man I found this video really helpful 👏🏻

You know I didn’t like being talked to as a child but this video was really helpful
Helping people that didn't have parents one step at a time! Haha

It was so simple this whole time.
Thank you.
Simple? Okay, do polyesters bleed into cotton? Yes/No
*You have approximately until the end of beginning noon*

This is why we need an adult Dora 😂 thank you for being our adult dora
Hi! Thank you so much for doing this, it really helped me!!
This definitely helped me
Some ppl might think this video is stupid, but nope, many ppl seriously have no idea.
Thank you! I'm especially confused on greys and stripes or colored whites. Now I know to put them in lights.
Hello Jessica Wilson. This is Cathy and I am doing good and it is nice to meet you. Whites are still considered lights of each laundry.
I've come back to this video more times then I'd like to admit
What about browns and khakis because I’m panicking 😩😭 but this video was exactly what I needed straight to the point and simple
Khakis always go with lights. Now dark brown go with darks and light brown go with lights.
What if you have a shirt that is white on the back but printed on the front?
Lights
This is basic knowledge. However it is also a fundamental knowledge needed 👌
Yes, i needed this lesson. Yes, I'm turning 40. 😊😅❤
This is like Nick Jr for adults.
Right
Thank you, this was sooo helpful. Now, I feel a little less lost with my laundry mount everest :D

Thank for helping a twenty year old man do his laundry 😂
Thank you random lady!
Lets try it together!
What is this?
Uh, dark? Its dark! Yeah!
Its a light! So this goes in the light.
Maybe im not made for this.
Underwear needs to be washed at 60 degrees, but most of my pants can be washed at the maximum of 40 degrees. So they must be washed separatly.
What detergents and items do you add to each?
WHAT DO YOU DO WITH PINK????
Thank you so much!
THANK YOU!!! 😊
What about for like a tie die shirt and tie die hoodies?
What about whit with a small dark print logo on it?!
where u put yellows? I'm assuming lights?
Thank you sooooo much!
I feel like she made this vid trolling all those who dont do laundry
