Interesting fact about the Mario Kart 8 one: Totaka wasn't actually involved with composing for MK8, his only credit was voicing Yoshi. Yet he still found a way to include his theme.
Nitro Wildfire Well I think people saw that Totaka was involved, even if not composing, and tried to find anything that sounds like the song, what I’m saying it was probably trial and error that helped find it
I love how in the early versions, it sounds like Totaka has his finger over the keyboard for the last note when director Kiyotake bursts in and says “Don’t you dare press that last key!” Then Totaka presses that last key
I love how the song can be applied to anything and go from "holy fuck that's creepy as hell" to "holy fuck that's funky as hell" to "holy fuck this is cute as well".

I remember accidentally encountering the totaka theme in mario kart 64 during the victory for the round screen before going to the next race, I left it on for about an hour because my sister and I wanted a break but were planning to play it again later, then the totaka theme came up randomly and we both kinda freaked out. apparently it happens when the victory song loops 64 times.
When I was a kid, I left my game boy on after the game over from Super Mario Land 2 after failing to beat Wario for the 10th time. I thought the game was possessed after this played and freaked out.
It's crazy how we still are missing some games that totaka's composed. He did wave race 64 and we still don't know where the song is. I think he also did the Wii menu music.
I find it interesting how there's slight variations in each version. Sometimes it's the tempo, sometimes it's the rest (or lack thereof) just before the final note, sometimes it's the octave, and sometimes it's one of the actual notes (like how the last note in Link's Awakening's version is a higher pitch than in other versions)
3:05 Wow! I never knew that version of the song existed and this is my first time hearing it, that’s such a great find and it’s sad it wasn’t used, it sounded good as a piano theme.
the animal crossing performances have so much chaotic energy to them. kk slider just goes full "fuck it" mode and just starts singing misplaced notes yet still manages to make it sound okay. this is why i love kk slider.

Idk but it leaves a "Mysterious" sensation, this fits with the Pikmin franchise since in the game, it's shown that all the humans are extinct, with the only remains being the "Treasures" which are actually common objects we use every day, and the fact that the game tells you that the humans probably died of radiation but doesn't tell you what actually happened and some enemies are very mysterious lile the final boss of Pikmin 3 (don't search it up if you haven't played that game or didn't finished it)
