First of all, Dr. Clark was not a jerk or anything in that category. she was a woman of God who believed in Holiness and perfection. She only wanted the choir to sound their best for the Lord! Regardless of how ‘hard’ she was. She got that choir in check! This soft generation couldn’t dare take correction from Dr. Clark. Get over yourselves. This woman is a legend.
pre 1995 it was the worst to be in any Pentecostal church choir rehearsal lol ... prayer 1st, then hours & hours & hours & hours of singing & correction, but when the final project came through it was musical perfection ... these kids these days would never know lol
Wow. I used to go to the services when she would come to Prayer Garden COGIC in San Jose, Ca. I got to be in her rehearsal during UNAC in San Francisco. Those were the best times of my life.
O.M.F.G 😳 at 8:28, that guy blew me away ! Wow wow, the singer back during this time sung STRAIGHT from their diaphragm! Wow wow, they even PRACTICED in excellence!
What do the letters OMFG stand for? Surely, it means Omnipotent Majestic Faithful God, right? We wouldn’t be taking God’s Holy Name in vain-just to describe how shocked we are about something. Dr. Clark stood for holiness and reverence for God. Prayerfully, we all will do the same. God Bless you. 🙏🏼😇
I grew up under her administration, and she didnt play neither did Dorinda, Twinkie , Karen and Jacky....they all direct and teach like Mama Clark! This is where we learned how to sing for real!!!! Doing over 20 songs during our convocations in our respective states and jurisdictions was a task but it made us be the singers and musicians that we are today! I am grateful for that "hard" discipline that pulled the gift out of you and made you SING and SING TO GOD!!!!
Very true!!!! Her rehearsals were legendary! Even working with her daughters is just like working with her..they don't play especially Dr. Dorinda Clark Cole and Dr. Twinkie Clark!!!! It's always a treat!!!!!
Hmmm. A thought just occurred to me... if we could go back in time, Dr Moss choir vs Mrs Cissy Houston’s choir, which choir would be tighter? Neither of them were known to play around or to tolerate ‘sorry sopranos’.
Nik Maroc definitely, Dr. Clark. If Dr. Clark didn't notice a problem in the choir, then her girls would notice it. Dr. Clark was also the first person to record a choir record, so, that really says something.
Chris Patton yesss, Dr. Clark believed that God deserved nothing but perfection or close to him and if you didn't believe that.... Well... Look at Matthew 5:48
She was a jerk! But let's face it sometimes we need jerks to bring out the best in us...... Shout out to Joe Jackson Matthew Knowles and Venus & Serena father too.....
@@courtneypoland6621 You know she was a jerk....😆🤣😂 I've heard stories about her from people that went through the stuff with her.... Throwing stuff at choir members, hitting musicians in the head with hymnal books......... And if you're from Detroit you know I'm not lying, now don't you!?

That is true. I was in one of her rehearsals when I was 15. She was a hard teacher.
A legend that damn near pushed her children away
@@truthtellerbelievethat1813 That's a lie!
Most directors of the arts, whether music, dance or theater, are going to be hard when they practice.
@@karenconyers8531 Absolutely! I used to cry as a child in choir rehearsal lol!

I remember meeting Dr Clark when she came to the BayArea back in 91 she was a awesome woman of GOD

Thank you so much for posting! This is GOLD!
I wish I could take a class from her.
I heard that people would come to the rehearsals just to watch. There were some that were even filled with the Holy Ghost during the rehearsals.

Hollering @ 0:41. "Sorry Sopranos" lololol!

With the timing of the Organ, I actually think this is Ms.Clark on the organ .🤔
No that's twinkie all the way
It was Twinkie on the organ. Twinkie accompanied her Mother everywhere at the time.
Has to be Twinkie
I was told she was on the organ and directing.
Twinkie!!!!!!!!!! 🎹
Awesome
They crazy thing is... to my untrained ears, they dont even sound that bad.
The thing is, she didn't want just "not bad", she wanted perfect.

Dr Clark was a perfectionist she wanted to get it right even it meant the rehearsal would last for hours.
One thing about music and dance directors, what may seem good to us is always not good enough for them.
right😭😭
