    I’m a 16.6 handicap player atm(was as low as 12.7 but have blown out due to not playing well enough) and I spent over 3 hours at a simulator and got my average total and carry distances for all my clubs and this is what I have in my bag:
    Average Total & carry Distances for my clubs
    TaylorMade Tour issue stealth 8* driver
    TaylorMade Tour issue stealth 15* fairway wood
    TaylorMade stealth plus 3 & 4 hybrid
    TaylorMade 2021 P790 irons 5-GW
    TaylorMade milled grind 3 hi-toe SW & LW
    TaylorMade 2024 TP5x Stripe golf ball
    Average total & carry distances
    (9.25*)Driver-238m(carry 220m)-1m
    (16*)Fairway-221m(carry 203m)-6m
    (18.5*)3 Hybrid-209m(carry 191m)+1m
    (21*)4 Hybrid-190m(carry 177m)+7m
    (23*)5 iron-170m(carry 162m)+4m
    (26.5*)6 iron-158m(carry 151m)+7m
    (30.5*)7 iron-144m(carry 138m)+8m
    (35*)8 iron-130m(carry 125m)+13m
    (40*)9 iron-112m(carry 107m)+4m
    (45*)PW-103m(carry 95m)+6m
    (50*)GW-89m(carry 80m)+6m
    (55*)SW-74m(carry 65m)+7m
    (60*)LW-58m(carry 51m)
    And the +\- on the right side is the total distance between 1 club and the carry distance of the next club up from that so I can use that to gauge what club I should use

    Hi Hannah,
    I'm just about to start watching your video. As you know, I'm a fan of your work ... but I'm nervous that it's just another course management video.
    If my timing is on, and I'm striking the ball well, I can break 80. If it's not, I can score nearer 100. It's the factor in my scoring. Yes, a good putting round makes a positive difference, and knifing chips will always damage a card. But nothing makes a score collapse more than strike. Ten penalty shots from the tee with driver, 3 wood, hybrid, or 4 iron make a solid score impossible.
    Anyway, maybe I'm unnecessarily concerned. Let's just press play and see what you can help me with today 🙏.
    Thanks again for all your good work 👏.

    • @hannahholdengolf
      @hannahholdengolf  18 дней назад +1

      What exactly do you mean by not striking well? Wide shots or heavy or thin shots? I don’t always go into specific technical advice as i think that is very individual and you should get advice from a swing coach who can see your swing on video or in person!

    • @rickggrick778
      @rickggrick778 18 дней назад

      @hannahholdengolf - thanks for asking. 😊.
      I tend to lose my timing somewhere in the sequence, around transition. Our club pro showed me a video and said I was steep in the downswing. The cure seems less clear.
      Until I work out what feel I need to fix it, I'll be thinning or toeing a bunch of shots.
      In the meantime, I'll watch and admire your swing 👍.

    Great reminders. I see it time and time again people short of the green esp. on front pins. Play to the middle of the green. Saw that yesterday with a boy in 9th grade. Each time he'd be 8-10 paces short of greens (3Xs). It is more than just distances. What is temps? Wind? how are you hitting it? Also, I see so many take a high lofted club 2-3 feet off the green. Why use a wedge there when you can putt?? or at least use something less lofted like a 7-8 irons to just get rolling on the green. Last tip, get really good at your target yardages. One of mine about 90 yards. If I'm in trouble I will always go to that zone. Worst case it will be a 3 more from there. Good bogeys don't blow up rounds. Boring golf will win most the time. Fairways, greens, and two putts. Keep up the good stuff! 10.2K now!

    NIce video with plenty of good advice, even for people trying to break 80 or 70. Regarding the distances, I feel most mid handicap players know their distances... in optimal conditions, but they are very bad at adjusting that number to account for the lie, the wind, the temperature, the... that lower handicap players do "automatically", possibly because of experience. And pros keep on saying "go to a trackman and learn your carry distances" (with me, for a fee) when what people really lack is information on how much the conditions affect the shots. What I would recommend is 1° laser all your approach shots before hand, assess the conditions (wind, grass, slope, elevation, temperature, at least) and 2° see what happened to your "normal carry". 3° repeat and adjust on the next shot... and keep on doing that, taking note of what made you shorter on some shots, longer on others and what influenced the curvature.

    Hogan in his golf bible, gives 5 tips to break 80 within 6 months. Effectively, Grip, set up, backswing, downswing, recap, if you read the book, each category is explained, very simply. Better than any lesson, easy to follow and it works. In the late 60’s age 9 i was given the book, and taught myself to play from it, +3 at age 15. My then club pro couldn’t believe it when i said I had never had a lesson. I have the occasional overview now, but the pro that does this also follows Hogan.
