Hello friends and visitors. This time I want to introduce you to a beautiful city I had recently visited. Maybe you know it or maybe not. Recently I was in the Dutch town of Leerdam in the province of Utrecht. Which is famous for its beautiful glass and cheese.Leerdam has been the Glass City of the Netherlands since 1765. And you will find that everywhere here. But Leerdam has much more than what you think. My walk started from the quay near the tour boat and restaurant where you have a nice view of the river Linge and marina. I always try to combine nature with a village or city visit. And between the Glasblazerij on the Zuidwal and the marina of WSV De oude Horn and the district of Varsseveld is also a beautiful little park which used to be called the "turd forest" and then you know why. But now it has really become a bright green little city park with lots of wild flowers in it. And in this park i went too. The park is also part of the Glass Route which is a connection between the National Glass Museum and the city. Some works of art made of glass and others can be seen here. It is also constantly being replenished and that also makes this park kind of unique. The red glass spiders caught my attention but also others you can see in the video. But I write some more interesting facts because you will also see the mouse towers as they are called. Those are the narrow tall buildings on the quay. Because you must be wondering where that name "Mouse Towers" came from then? Around 1837, an unloading wharf was installed and the remains of the old and dilapidated wall towers three houses were built. But no one dared to live in the wall towers. This was because the enemy could enter your house across the water. This left the turrets deserted... Mice and rats could live delightfully in these towers partly because of this. Hence the name: Mouse Towers. The underside of the turrets used to protect the wall from ice and water from the river Linge. And in times of war, cannons were placed on the Muizentorentjes to defend the city. And in 1 of those towers there is also a cozy and cozy coffee & tea house. Called Thee Leutje . But where you can also enjoy delicious sandwiches and much more. And in the beginning of this menu card you could read this information. And i found it very interesting. You too? Leerdam really is a city well worth a visit. The city wall on the Zuidwal tells a lot about the city's past. Leerdam has also a diverse range of stores, historic buildings and cozy restaurants. It is a city with a nice mix of culture, nature and history and enough stores to then go and combine it. What has also become very nice is the Dokter Reilinghplein with beautiful flower boxes and paving. You come across these when you go to the train station or to the bus stops. The glassworks also received many visitors but when I was here it was already quite a hot day so I did not go there. Because inside it is then also super hot when they blow the glass. So I'll keep that visit in mind when I visit the city again and maybe I'll also visit the glass museum because I didn't have time for that either. But Leerdam has more beautiful places because what you can also visit here in leerdam is a beautiful underwater world name and is Aqua Zoo and that is located in the basement of the Lingesteyn Nursing Home and there are 42 different vivaria with beautiful fish, amphibians, reptiles, plants and beautiful corals from many parts of the world. Highly recommended for you to watch this videos also. the links are above below in the dutch words. Enjoy my moments here and thank you for visiting, tumbs up of comments and watching my photos. all the support is very welcome. Summer greetings, Tine
Enjoyed watching the beautiful scenery and nature. The beautiful flowers are the delight of the insects particularly the busy bees. Thank you for sharing your interesting tour, Tine. Wishing you good health and a happy weekend.
Thanks for the beautiful tour....I really enjoyed the way you presented all the footages....I am sure you must have enjoyed your visit....It was a beautiful share and I really do appreciate you sharing with us....Regards Khalique.,..{:-)
Hi, Du liebe Mause-Tine!
A wonderful video Tine. Leerdam is a name I know due to cheese and you have such an interest time there. I like to see a Marina when I get chance and we enjoyed staying in a holiday apartment at one a few times in Scotland. Nice to see a family of Geese enjoy a swim there as well👍 The park is has some interesting art work on show. I like some gardens in summer when they show off art work amongst the flowers and sometime I have guess what the artist is trying to convey to us but it is not always easy. However no problem with the frogs and the red spiders are very clever crawling up that tree👍 Nice statue of the Glass Blowers as well. You certainly shared us your day out with us and I enjoyed it. Have a pleasant weekend Tine. Warm greetings, Julie🎵🌈

Mooie video Tine. Weer wat bijgeleerd over muizentorentjes. En prachtige natuur gezien.
Mooie beelden Tine!
Guten Tag, meine liebe Tine!
Thank you for showing us glimpses of Leerdam, it is indeed a charming city, well worth to visit and explore. It's interesting to learn also about what's behind the name of the Mouse tower. Thank you very much! Sending you best wishes and a wonderful weekend!
Thank you for watching the video and nice comment. 👌The red spiders are made of glass at the glassworks and is also part of the glass route that the fortified town of Leerdam is known for here.
Prachtige video, Tine.
Complimenti. 👍24. Un caro saluto dall'Italia. Ciao, Lorenzo.
