- Travel on a 26-year-old all-economy Virgin Australia Regional Airlines A320 from Perth to Adelaide. Takeoff from runway 21 with great views as we head southeast towards the Great Australian Bight, cross the Eyre and Yorke peninsulas (with views of Coffin Bay and Port Lincoln) before descending into Adelaide.
This video was filmed in December 2019. In April 2020 Virgin Australia entered voluntary administration. This aircraft, VH-VNP, was subsequently removed from service and advertised for sale, according to Aussie Airliners: www.aussieairli...
The administrators announced in June 2020 that Virgin Australia will be sold to private equity firm Bain Capital.
Footage was recorded using a GoPro Hero 6 and Apple iPhone XR.
This video features Perth Airport Terminal 1 (domestic), boarding, pushback, taxi, takeoff, climb, snack service, cabin announcements, descent, approach, landing and taxi to the gate.

Wow, that's a blast to air travel in the early 2000s
Hardly find a VA A320 review on RUclips, glad that you had the chance to fly on one! :)
Thanks! Yeah, it was a bit like time travel now that you mention it. 😉
I absolutely love coffin bay, port lincoln. Great to see it from the air!
Yes, it’s such a pretty place. I need to visit again ... haven’t been since I was a kid.
wonderful vid Adam! Did VA retire all A320? Hopefully not because I'd like to fly on them!
Thanks Jayden! 🙏 From what I can find online the other five A320s are all in service. I think they’re used a lot for fly in fly out mining services in Western Australia and I think a lot of those routes are still active. 👍
In fact those five A320s have one less row than VH-FNP, so even more legroom. 😍
@@FromtheWindowSeat My dad flys the virgin a320 between Home and work. They use them as charter flights for FIFO workers like my dad. The route Virgin runs the a320s are on (Perth to Coondawanna) Which is his route as well as (Perth to the Cocus Islands)
One World Flyer they are still flying the A320 on weekends between Adelaide and Perth, VA717 (VH-YUD) is being used now
Awesome Video!
Angus Productions Thank you. Much appreciated. 👍
Hi I just subscribed your channel. I love aviation and Australia 😊👍
Awesome. Thanks! :)
Nice video!
Thank you!
@@FromtheWindowSeat I'm loving watching all your videos!
@@avipediaaviation9123 That's awesome - really great to hear that. :)
That plane has taken its final flight yesterday. Heading to scrapping
Oh - that's sad. :(
At take off you are crossing over Roe highway - not Reid highway as described.
Oops - sorry. I'm not that familiar with Perth so I tried to use Google Maps to work it out and must have gotten it wrong.
Great trip report! Still nice to see VA still flying. Is VA slowly selling/retiring their A320s? I heard they're transitioning to a 737 fleet.
Thank you! The sale to Bain Capital hasn’t been completed yet so at this stage I don’t think they’re selling / returning (think they may be leased) the other five A320s (just the much older one in this video) but it sounds like they are moving towards a simplified fleet focused on their 737s.
Nice video! Subed!
Ifly Aviation Thanks! Subbed back. 😉
Can u go into the virgin terminal without buying plane tickets and just go to plane spot?
Yes, in Australia you can enter the terminal even if you're not travelling.
@@FromtheWindowSeat is that the same for Qantas terminal?
@@jmah2838 Yes. The exception is for international flights - only passengers are allowed through (because they have to go through Customs, additional screening etc).
@@jmah2838 not in international
Nice video! Australia is one of countries on my bucket list! I think 26 y.o. Airbus A320 is much better than 15 y.o. 737 :-D Btw. once in Nice (France) I've seen first series of A320 with missing winglets :-D
Pete Brandy Thank you! Yes, you shall have to visit. Haha. Yeah, Airbus aircraft age well. 😉
@@FromtheWindowSeat I'd like, last time when I was in Singapore, I decided if to fly to Sydney or to Taipei, but I had only 3 days, so Taipei was bit closer.. so I hope after the borders will be opened again, I will visit Australia :-)
Pete Brandy Yeah - and you need to allow as much time as you can. Australia isn’t exactly small. 😜
