Do people want more Over the Garden Wall stuff on this channel? I know asking you in a OTGW video is going to skew the data, but 2024 is the 10 year anniversary so maybe I'd dip into this one more time...?
A ten year anniversary video would be amazing. I love your paradise lost link to Greg. I’d never heard that and I think it pairs beautifully with the Dante’s Inferno parallels
@@saraha.9837 I've got a few half-formed ideas that could turn into another video, but I'll have to see if any of them can really stand on there own. Hopefully we'll see it some more next year!
I’m so happy that there is still an active fandom for over the garden wall in 2024 . The first time I watched this show was only a year ago but it has become one of my favorites for sure , I love to see people talking about it like this (:
I think it’s becoming like Nightmare Before Christmas in that it’s a highly aesthetic, seasonal story that people keep coming back to at least once a year. It’s been one of my favorites since I saw it.
the quote from welcome to night vale that shook me to my core: "Are you living a life that is safe from harm? No, of course not. But that is not the right question. The question is, are you living a life that is *worth* the harm?"

this was THE video i had searched for far and wide across an seemingly endless sea of youtube videos. you explained his character arc, his flaws and how he overcame them, alongside clips of the show to show it, so so well. i tend to be media illiterate in certain cases, ill admit, and thats why these videos mean so much to me. i saw myself taking a liking to wirt and relating, but i couldnt quite point down why exactly. his cynicism and quick tendency to give up and lose hope, his defensiveness in fear of getting hurt by daring to be vulnerable, believing the lie so many do that by not opening yourself up to others, you'll be protected against any type of pain. though it is that loneliness and feeling of being lost, not having anything going for you, wandering without any aim, is what brings the most painful hurt of all. a slow walk to your death, never having made a chance to the world or the persons around you, just like being a ghost. passing through life. I thank you greatly for this absolute masterpiece of a video, i also like the theory of each episode conveying a type of love. till know ive heard mostly only about the purgatory refrences from dante, which i absolutely adore, though it is nice seeing a different take on this exquisite show. alright that is a lot of text ill go watch the 11 remaining minutes now.
Thank you! For me, I really liked "Over the Garden Wall", and I just wanted to make a video about it. Then the more I watched it and the more I wrote about it, the video almost became like a therapy session for me. I was able to kinda put Wirt's problems in context, and started to find I was giving myself advice while writing about him. I'm really glad other people are getting a lot out of this video too!
I watched a vid with over 500k views yet the analysis of that one is meh (compared to this), so unorganized and hard to follow, the creator didn't even bother matching the clips shown to what he is saying, it's just a confusing voice-over with repeated shots of the same few scenes. This deserves more recognition.
Thank you! Unfortunately the amount of effort it takes to put out good work like this doesn't translate into views as well as churning things out regularly. Then your video was in my recomended section and thought why not? I like when people analize shows, I like their thought process. What I want to say is that this video taught me a lot, not only about how the story was constructed or deepner nuances - but it taught me a lot about myself. When you were talking about Wirt I felt like you were talking about me. How hating myself hurt others, how my disbelief that I can be loved makes me blind to the people who try to be apart of my world. How by being in isolation I am not letting myself have the life I want to have and by trying and loving people I have nothing to lose. Good things come with risk and to take it I have to not be scared of making my choices, of taking a renponsibility of my risk which will cause its consequences. But all of this is always worthwhile, I will learn, I will grow, I will love and be loved in return. I love seeing comments like this! When I was writing the script for this video, there were times I thought to myself "Is that really in the show, or am I just projecting?" Loved watching your analysis, I cannot thank you enough for making this great video! Over The Garden Wall has been one of my favorite shows growing up along with stuff like Gravity Falls, I can hardly belive a decade has passed since its release. Rewatching it recently, I really wanted to get a better understanding of the themes and characters, however I wasn't expecting to find such a thorough video on my first search with so much dedication put into it! It reasonated with me a lot, and for that I just want to share another: Thank you.
Thank you! "Over the Garden Wall" is one of my favorite shows of all time, (and "Gravity Falls" is up there too!) I loved this show so much, I had to figure out why it resonated with me, so I made this video. Whether those themes were as intentional and structured as I made them out to be is still a mystery to me, but either way, it shows just how well-written the show is.
Came back and finished the video, it was quite insightful, and I think highlights tendencies many of us may have in regards to fear of connection. Also the Disney home video bit gave me a smile.
Thanks! I knew i wanted to do a video on this show, so I started working on Wirt's story. But I kept noticing how many subplots were about love, and then when I broadened my definition of "love" a bit, I realized they were all about that. Then the rest of the analysis started falling into place. It was a lot of fun to make this. Made me love this show even more!
Thank you! It’s funny how I came to notice it. I was trying to find the theme and kept seeing all of these love stories I had to cut from my script because they weren’t relevant. Then after a while it hit me: that’s the theme!
Greetings from Germany This video was kinda like therapy for me. First of all I want to thank you for this masterpiece, the pieces you put together are perfectly fitting for the show. You showed the viewer how to put oneself in the main protagonist and especially in the teenages you have to deal with self doubt. You somehow managed to show us how to fix such a problem, or at least the steps how to overcome such a phase. It's not only a theory or an analysis, it's an help for those of need, or a tutorial on how to become more self love and love others in any 9 types. Again thank you and keep on going bro not only you. Every person who sees this comment, never stop and chase your dream, overcome every situation and become the best version of you. Love and give love Bye ❤

(Then there were a few tweeks due to new copyright claims, which was weird because the old videos didn't get claimed)
Now I want to watch it again, even if is not fall around here yet (we're in spring now)
Nothing wrong with watching it twice a year!
excellent video
Thank you!
this is a 10/10 video, i love this soooooo much
I LOVE LOVE!
Thank you! It's probably the most fun I've had making one of these!
I GREATLY enjoyed this video, thank you
Thank you!
Wonderful analysis, loved it
Thank you!
Loved watching your analysis, I cannot thank you enough for making this great video!
Genuinely amazing.
Favourite frog name: Dr. Cucumber.
wirt is LITERALLYYY me
Damn a haven't watched ⅓ but I'm already stunned with the quality and eloquence
Thank you for the making this bro ❤❤
Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun figuring this all out and I'm so glad people are enjoying it!
Came back and finished the video, it was quite insightful, and I think highlights tendencies many of us may have in regards to fear of connection.
Also the Disney home video bit gave me a smile.
This is such an interesting analysis, I never expected that otgw showcases different kinds of love.
@@Storyograph I appreciate you making this!
Great job! Been waiting for a vid like this for a while ❤
Thank you! Glad I could help!
My favorite frog name is George Washington. It's grandiose, yet childish.
My favorite as well!
I’m working on an otgw video rn, and I can barely get my hands on footage. How do you get yours?
So its come to this a Storyograph clip show… Jk, good to see all of these in one video
Ha! Yeah well I’d always planned on doing this eventually. Seems like a good time.
thamk you
This was amazing! I never noticed the themes of love in the show. Thank you for the great video essay, i thoroughly enjoyed it! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Thank you! It’s funny how I came to notice it. I was trying to find the theme and kept seeing all of these love stories I had to cut from my script because they weren’t relevant. Then after a while it hit me: that’s the theme!
The clip is not from What we do in the shadows but from our flag means death :D
This bit? 45:00 Oh, I know! Reread my caption on the clip... I think you'll find I'm being a bit cheeky 😉 (I often mis-title clips for bonus jokes)
Maybe this video isn't as bad as you think. :D
🤩 "promosm"
It spoils some things for over the garden wall
Enoch is from the Bible seems like do worship god as Enoch didn’t die he was taken up my god

Greetings from Germany
This video was kinda like therapy for me.
Love and give love
Bye ❤
I love seeing comments like these! Making the video was also like therapy for me too!
Well I didn’t expect this video to fundamentally change me
Well I didn’t expect this video to fundamentally change me
I think making this video fundamentally changed me, too!
