      y'know, i think it'd be interesting. Maybe adding a receptionist, which gives you your weapon, y'know? So, it's not really an enemy. It just stands there and gives you your weapon.
      edit: i added this late, but maybe it could be a shopkeeper to sell items and stuff

    A cool weapon idea could be to have a coffee machine as grenade launcher, but instead of firing grenades, it fires filled coffee cups.

      @@farciarzfunny5326 there are compiler errors and things like that which get logged and then there are errors in how it was made which don't get logged because unity doesn't know your intentions of your code.

    I think it would be funny if the projector actually work like real life, if you walk in front of it, the words will project on you.

      While possible, that would be a pretty difficult effect to pull off. So definitely the kind of thing that should be saved for the polishing stage of development.
      (unless you get a sudden hyper-fixation and you just really, _really_ need to implement it because you think it would look cool and/or would be a fun challenge; that kind of thing's happened to me a few times)

    there’s probably a metaphor for how menial office work feels endless and stuff, but that’s all thrown out the window when you get the multi-color gatling pen

    If it’s possible I would love to see Easter egg rooms added in. For example a 0.01% chance the room is like Michael Scott’s office from the office with a NPC of him inside or room dedicated to different games, then again I don’t know how hard that is I’m not a coder I’m a RUclips commenter.

    You should add an elevator, which could serve as a boss room or a sort of room that locks you in until you kill all the enemies.

    I like the idea of the endless room. It could appear after encounter with some npc or item. Like, you interact with it, and one other room swaps places with this one, and finding an exit from there will give you cool gun, or an item, or some currency

    It's always incredible to me that people can take letters, numbers, symbols, and pixels and turn it into something so cool. A cool bossfight/enemy could be a devil who would hold out contracts that reflect shots.

    Great progress and fun game and animations. Consider a restroom scene where you have to check each stall, some empty, some with surprise enemies. Also could play with time and have lunch break (pauses enemies) and 5pm which could be end of day and you spawn again in morning. Daily goals to defeat enemies so they can't complete the TPS report.

    I still think Greg should look more like he's actually asleep. As I commented on the last devlog: "To make Greg look even more asleep you could have his head sort of hanging down, so that you don't really see his "face" but mainly his hair."
    Yeah, I still think that that would look good.

    I have an idea for an enemy:
    Meet Jerry! He likes to play pranks around the office by leaving doors open a crack when the room is cleared. once someone gets close to the door, he will slam it open, pushing the person back, and start chasing them. Jerry is very fast, but not very coordinated, as if he is running on ice. he will also slow down and stop to catch his breath, since he would probably be hard to hit otherwise.
    Also I think that any "Fast" enemies (Greg and Jerry) should slip if they step onto ink puddles while they are running.

    I have a few ideas that could be used for the game.
    1. Diversity in enemy appearance - the enemies all look too similar, so it might be a good idea to change up their clothes (or at least tie), hair and skin colour.
    2. Map - if the layout of the office doesn’t change until it is reset, it would be good to create a simple map, even if it is just an image of the generation of the office.
    3. HUD - a display of information such as the weapons at hand, kill count, enemies remaining and the escape route could fit into the theme if played correctly; a watch could show the time, a pager could show the kill count and enemies, etc.
    4. Contact damage - the red outline for items seems too much, and could be turned into something simpler. Maybe a system where anything too close to the player that could damage them could trigger an audio or visual response; a brief alarm or an animated exclamation mark from the direction the danger is coming from.
    The game looks amazing, and I see great things in its future. Godspeed with the development.

    How about an enemy who is so tired that he fell asleep at work. You would need to not shoot at him or near him, so as not to wake him up.

    Game is looking great! I do feel like your own water jug projectiles shouldn't be outlined in the same color as the enemies, and it is also quite hard to tell what they even are, as all the "wateryness" kinda goes away once the whole thing is encased in bright red

    This was such a good devlog! I'm excited for this game, i'll definitely be wishlisting it when the steam page is up! I liked that twist ending too :)
    ur storytelling abilities are definitely continuing to improve and im here for it xD
    i also really like that art style. just a slight bit of feedback, unless its an intentional part of the design, the smear on the door animations could probably be toned down just a little bit, as its currently not very subtle :p

    What if you make a meeting room for the higher ups of the company and it could be the "boss room" and you would have to fight some kind of boss.

    Greg's coffee drinking animation _desperately_ needs to have him tilting back his head while drinking, so as to make it actually clear that he's drinking.
    The way I envision it is he would take 3 gulps and tilt his head farther back each time in a very _exaggerated_ fashion. (theoretical gulps, *no need to actually animate the throat,* but you may consider adding sound effects to match them later)
    This does mean that the animation would be longer, so you might want to buf him in some other way.
    And for good measure have him toss, chuck, or even throw (whichever you choose) the cup afterwards instead of simply dropping it _straight_ down.

    I think the issue with coffee drinking animation wasn't that you dont know he's powering up. its that the coffee cup just looks like a square, you cant tell there's coffee in it or even that it's a cup

    9:41 The door's closing animation lacks _oomph,_ it might even be as simple as just removing frame 5.
    Another way to improve it may be to mess around with frame 3 and 4. Frame 3 is more heavily smeared than frame 4, giving the illusion that the door is moving faster on frame 3 than frame 4; this is not good, as it makes it appear as though the door is slowing down, detracting from the _oomph_ (which is also part of the reason that I suggested to delete frame 5).
    You may also consider mirroring some of these changes with the door opening animation, but the _oomph_ of the opening is _much less_ imperative than the closing.

    Power-up idea: There's a small chance that when you defeat the coffee addict, they drop a cup of coffee. It ups your speed and strength for 30 seconds.

    Weapon idea: Calculator (with ironically complex usage), when you fire once it shoots a digital projectile projectile, firing again converts the projectile to a area that damages over time, the projectile does no damage but can bounce off walls.
    Miniboss ideas- supervisor, boosts enemy damage and uses stamps to apply debuffs
    You could implement some enemies just work at a computer or something else and get up and attack you after you make enough noise or attack

    I might be too late for a suggestion, but it would be really cool to see those iconic Erich Krause ballpoint pens - bright orange with dark blue caps and back ends. They can be either a weaker earlygame version of the pen gun or a stronger version of the pencil launcher (pen launcher this time, as the color scheme is so recognizable its sprite can be tiny)

    To avoid players getting lost I would suggest a minimap like the dead cells minimap in the corner

    New ideas for the game:
    New Enemies:
    • An enemy that uses its tie as a whip.
    • An enemy that shoots stacks of paper at the player with a fan.
    Current Enemy changes/additions:
    • When Steve gets to a printer, he repeatedly makes weak-ish copies of himself to go melee attack and swarm the player until the original Steve is defeated.
    • When Greg drinks coffee, his speed and strength is a littler higher than it is now and it lasts much longer. After waking up for the first time, every time Greg runs out of energy he doesn’t completely fall asleep, he gets really slow and heads toward a nearby coffee maker to regain his energy.
    • If Steve and Greg are in the same room, Steve can grab the coffee maker to shoot coffee at Greg to keep him continually recharged.
    World changes:
    • More things around the office.
    • Things around that office that can be affected by enemies and the player (ex: stack of papers that can be shot around with a fan, coffee maker, chairs that can be launched into the player or enemies to do damage by attacking it).
    •Cubicle walls to help breakup each room.

    just some random weapon ideas for inspiration:
    1. printer that shoots paper and gives people paper cuts (it also jams a lot)
    2. office phone that creates a nearby blast (like a shotgun), it shoots out dirty words like this $@!* and there’s a faint mumbling sound of some unhappy customer on the other end
    3. stapler gun, enough said honestly
    4. pencil stabbing thingy, close range one use, reload is sharpening it

    You should be able to preload the adjacent rooms and show them connected with some fog of war. That would make it easier to know where you have come from and navigate. Should work ok as long as you clamp the camera a bit to the current room so that it doesn't show much of the adjacent rooms until you go through a door which at that point it smoothly pans to the next room.

    Suggestion: At first room (reception) could have a receptionist that you can talk and she says like "The boss are waiting for you on his office".
    This could be also a little bit about the story, where you gonna be fired, or something like this. But the point is that at final you could meet the boss at his room.

    When going into a different room, there should be an animation of the character kicking of throwing the door open, and a punchy and crunchy sound effect playing, such as in Enter the Gungeon.
    Secondly, in the reception room, there should be a chance for there to be a third door at the top, where you have to dodge roll over the desk, I just think that'd be neat.

    I watched every of your devlog videos so far and I have to say, I am impressed. :-)
    In your second video you mentioned a lift. This lift (or elevator) could be the hub or safe zone of your player. A tiny cozy room with chill music and fun gimmigs and gags - like a random guy entering and leaving after saying some weird stuff or a quote out of a movie. Or a cleaning lady with her cleaning gear.
    I think it would make sense, if every floor has a different color scheme and a different theme. The first floor could be the accounting and you have to fight the boss, to get the key card to the next floor. After defeating John from Accounting you could fight Karen from Human Resources. She likes kittens.
    I noticed all your characters look a little alike. I think it would be a good idea to give every enemy a varity of hair styles and colors. Red hair, green tie, bald head, dark skin. And women are allowed to work too. So for every Bob there is a Barb, and for every Steve there is an Eve.
    I hope this helps and gives you some input for your amazing project. :-)

    I think it would be cool to add an enemy that appears to kill you if you spend too much time in a room,mix that with the infinite room and you'll have something interesting to surprise the player with.

    One thing rogue likes always get wrong is teleportation. They set up a few teleporting spots here and there and allow us to telleport between rooms. One think I wished people did is either have teleporting sports in every room that you conquered or at least in every other room. For this game it could be a telephone on the wall, a cell phone, a chair or any office themed transportation or communication device.

    Here's some enemy ideas:
    A higher up ceo boss (named Fred) and halfway through fighting him, he will spawn a right hand man miniboss. (named Robb Banks)
    They could switch between certain weapons and drop safes on the player that you have to avoid.
    Also for steve, if he finds a printer he can stand behind it and make it shoot paper at the player. Alternatively if he finds a computer he will sit at it and type in command prompts that spawn random bullets around that target you, kind of like the unused queen attack from deltarune
    I could make these as sprites if you want

    The new floor colour is definitely better! A suggestion though: add some floor details like scuff marks, hints of damaged carpet fraying, etc, so that the player has a better feel for moving around (especially for things like the infinity room). Currently it almost feels like you're not moving without any other frames of reference.

      That happens a lot in my games. The contrast in the floor definitely helps project the feeling of motion easily, so that’s one of the best suggestions I’ve seen in a while

    The infinity room should be the insanity room where if you spend longer than 5 minutes you go insane and game over.
    With creepy darkness affect closing in all around you.

    Hello! I want to say, that your game looks awesome! Great job! So many fun mechanics and... Well alot of good stuff! I also have an idea, a wild one that is NOT AT ALL good, but atleast ambitious.

    The things it has are these.
    PROS:
    -gives more movement speed
    -(maybe) you can have a gun while being on the chair
    -if the chair crashes into enemy, the enemy takes damage
    CONS:
    -if the chair hits any object/maybe wall, desks, printers etc, the object (ofcourse not the wall IF the chair when crashing) and the chair break.
    -when the chair hits an enemy, it takes damage. But the chair breaks.
    THE I DON'T KNOWS:
    -what happens, if an enemy shoots at the player? There are three options.
    1. The chair breaks, no harm for player.
    2. Player takes damage, chair doesn't break.
    3. Player takes damage and chair breaks.
    -finally, does the chair break, when you hit a wall?
    It would make a chaotic, but hopefully balanced item, if you want. Like, these are just suggestions. You can do whatever you want, and I would still enjoy it!

    super funny the office concept! and loved the video.

    beverage machine (powerups; could be enemy/neutral/allied)
    fire extinguisher
    plants
    relax room: billiards, darts...

    Cool! A good idea i think could be a Venus Trap in a flowerpot, wich works as a kind of melee, that you can use to deal big amounts of damage in slow slashes

    NPC named tom. He's the janitor and cleans up after everyone. He'll drop health potions or extra ammo if you interact with him.
    If you shoot him enough times, he'll turn into a secret boss battle.

    You can add locked doors to areas that have no extra rooms to make it feel bigger or a key you can get by defeating enemies to unlock extra areas

    Hey Deynum.
    I'm sure you've addressed the room-change bug.
    The first impression of what the problem was this: You have a hot spot that the avatar walks on to trigger the room change. Spawn the avatar outside of the spot so they're not triggering it on the return.

    Idea! If you're making the right room the tutorial presentation at the start, you should put a sign for the 'office conference' or 'seminar' or whatever being held in that room, pointing the player in the right direction. You know the boring office sign that's a board on the three legged stand thing. Would be a fun addition that fits the theme and directs the player where you want them to go!

    Bosses every 5th floor or so
    Promotions (upgrades)
    Adding lore
    A melee weapon (Maybe a keyboard or paper to give papercuts?)
    Screenshake as an extra polish
    Bombs (maybe coffee?)
    Cafeteria, with powerups

    Just a couple of ideas for the Greg enemy. Right now he stops very suddenly. From a gameplay perspective this doesn't really matter all that much due to the nature of twin stick shooters, but it's a little jarring. I think if you made the outline flash as he slowly loses steam and then falls asleep it would look and read much better. I might also suggest making him significantly faster than the player, like 1.5x, putting the emphasis on dodging him rather than running away. I suggest this a little more hesitantly as maybe that's not the type of enemy you want him to be, but for me it just makes a little more sense for the coffee to REALLY energize him before he falls back to sleep. Eirher way I just found your devlog and I love these types of games so I can't wait to keep watching the progress on this game.
