Haunting of Hill House: Scares the shit out of you,
Haunting of Bly: Gives you an existential crisis.
Wonder what The Haunting of Eel Marsh would do.
@@sebastianemond5313 a new series?
@@rivyy5042 Well, I think the Woman in Black would be great for Mike Flanagan to adapt into a third series. We've had Haunting of Hill House and Turning of the Screw adapted, with elements of Jolly Corner and Romance of Certain Old Clothes. Why not?
@@sebastianemond5313
............Ehhhhhhhhhh actually, I'd like to see Flanagan adapt _The_ _Haunting_ _Of_ _Hell_ _House_ next.
@@matthewmoran5297 Also a good idea, but I'm still hoping for Eel Marsh as well.
The faces fading makes so much sense after watching the show
Indeed
Ye
It's what I love about shows like this, Hill House, Legion... you see all this stuff and you're like "what the hell is going on"? Then, through great storytelling and acting, it's all revealed and it hits hard in its own way.
Even more subtle. The ones with less than happy endings have their faces turn slightly more decayed and rotted as well as their faces fading.
Lol is research that the faces fading is a metaphor for dementia. Like owens mom. Like Hannah repeating her own name, Age and year so she doesn't forget. She followed a routine which helps alzheimer/dementia patients keep their memories a little longer i think. Once the victim of the disease falls to the illness theyre only a husk of what they once were.
Dang, Hannah Grose's frame is the only one in circle..... like the Well that she fell in.
Yikes but well it’s true
Nice catch!
@@arthurgordonpym_AGP Maybe because she doesn’t want to see...accept that she is dead
And she’s wearing red
The opening credits make so much more sense after watching the last two episodes. 😭
True
how so
san-tea-yuh They all become forgotten
Yes.
I hope we keep the theme in the different stiles in the different seasons
yeah like with the American horror story opening titles they use the same beat and sound but just a different theme depending on the whats in the season
Considering this is already the second, I’m guessing that’s the plan.
It will, this show have almost the same formula like AHS. Different theme same beat.
@@madridistasejati5358 Is AHS good and worth watching? Is it better than Haunting series?
@@laurenkane5533 They used Go Tomorrow through both seasons and it was great
The worst part of being only halfway through the series is that I can’t discuss it anywhere and have to avoid spoilers, unless I binge watch it the entire night. But the best part is the anticipation and getting to experience it all for the first time :D boy is it slow, but good...
SAME
I just finished it today and oh man such feels.
@@MizuHime07I just want someone to 1) feel the feels with me; 2) analyse the shit out of it, so I can read/watch it and spend more time thinking about this series.
That’s why in reddit there are episode discussion threads that strictly limit the discussion in the said episode and before for some popular shows. HTGAWM for example. I can’t imagine not having the opportunity to discuss the astonishing plot twists with people.
@@MizuHime07 I finished it today and same 😪
It's the theme from the first season, but given a Bloodborne vibe. I like it.
Yep I think Mike Flanagan said this was gonna be a gothic horror story, like bloodborne ofc
What do you mean by "first season"? Are there more?
@@patryk2652 The Haunting of Hill House. It’s on Netflix! Bly Manor was an anthology installment to the haunting universe that Hill House started. I highly recommend Hill House it’s incredible and much better than Bly tbh.
@@patryk2652 The Haunting of Hill House
@@patryk2652 it's called The Haunting of Hill House. It's a different story with Bly Manor but they're still in the same series. Just like American Horror Story.
This music is hauntingly beautiful, just like the show
I'm honestly really surprised that a lot of people didn't like this show. I liked it almost as much as The Haunting of Hill House. I think maybe it's because this was also marketed as a horror show even though it's just a straight-out drama. Of course there's a couple of horror elements in it, but definitely not enough to be considered horror. Also I really like the love story.
I think the main part that was "horror" was the mystery and the suspense and how you never really knew what was going on till the very end
The pacing is so different, to the point where I didn't care too much for Bly Manor on my first run-through until I got to episode 4, and then I was hooked. I think Hill House is a lot more relatable at first glance since it's main theme is family trauma, which pretty much everyone can relate to, whereas Bly Manor is about characters having to confront their own choices and their own demons. Hill House is that friend that I instantly felt a connection with when I met them, whereas Bly Manor is the friend who it took a while for me to get to know, but now we share a deep, meaningful connection.
@@lolzkittenz I don’t know anyone that has any real family trauma. I certainly don’t. I wouldn’t say it’s something everyone can relate to.
@@lolzkittenz I feel like Hill House dealt with trauma in general, but it definitely had a lot more horror elements. But both are more existential horror than anything, I think.
The main complaint I heard about Bly is that people felt it was too similar to Hill House. A friend described it to me as, "It's like they took all the popular bits of Hill House and just did it again."
I didn't see it at first, but after watching it, I could see where people were coming from on that. It's definitely its own show, but there are still a lot of elements from the first series that felt a bit pandery.
But still, I enjoyed Bly Manor and while I think it definitely lacked the horror of the first, the existential horror was way worse, imo.
I totally agree!
I love suspenseful shows with layers of stories and mysteries to unravel. The atmosphere, the mood. It goes well with hot coco on a rainy night. I enjoyed this more than Hill House. This one is more of being haunted by your memories and guilt.
Yes, I love this kind of shows too. Can you suggest other ones?
@@adrianstefan5418 Try this one. ruclips.net/video/dPYMUnJGURI/видео.html. It's rumored to be the next adaptation that the Haunting series of Netflix will undertake.
Thelrin that would certainly be an interesting one.
I thought I was the only one who believes Bly Manor is so much better than Hill House.
Oh, see I thought Haunting of Hill House was about being haunted by your memories?
Watched all of It. Remember that this is Bly Manor, not Hill House, and then, you'll love it!
Everyone forgot that this is an anthology. It's supposed to be different.
Ikrr so many people are hating on it because its not like hill house.
I see people getting pissed because “iTs NoT ScArY.” Like bruh, it’s eerie while still being an amazing gothic romance. It does it’s job
Indeed . Don't know what people expect from it. I loved it . Yes I haven't watched hill house , I know it is very good but this wasn't supposed to be totally horror . It was horror plus romance . People should stop being such idiots and appreciate what we have gotten. A wonderful series 👏. Job well done to everyone who made and acted in bly manor .
@@MP-qx9wj Yeah, it's a ghost love story. Same thing, really.

@@observant6953 lmaooo what she was the main character lol

Just now realizing the uncle was Elliot from E.T.
WHAT
Am I the only one who wants any sit with someone and talk about this show for hours
sadly my friends were too scared to watch this show, so I have nobody to talk to lmao
yo me too ..let's talk about it yo..this haunting of bly manor and the haunting of hill house are my two favourite series in this genre ...i like them because of the beautiful storytelling and amazing music and so much more
@@AkshatSharma-ef7pu Yeah same, I love anything by Mike Flanagan. I think Hill House was the better series, but they’re both incredible.
@@PalmettoGD yo i think hill house and bly manor both has great actors and great music and visuals and amazing story but hill house was packed with more visually scary scenes which was amazing and bly manor was packed more with a deep story and more emotional depth ....anyaway i had a idea of watching this series with someone who really loves it so if you got people who would like to make a group or we can also watch it and watch it together ..we can watch it on rave or some watchparty app ..do let me know if you're interested in this idea. PS: i would love to know what you liked most about hill house ..like what stands out to you most ?
@@AkshatSharma-ef7pu I gotta say that twist of the bent neck lady isn’t even close to being topped by Bly, and then Hill’s episode Two Storms is up there in the best TV episodes ever (that’s the one where the episode is one continuous shot).
I only realize now that the Lady of the Lake is shown at the very beginning
I never thought a Horror show would break me this much. Wow
Holy cow, this intro becomes a lot more horrifying after episode 7😭😵
Holy cow the imagery is so important, it’s worth the slow burn everyone!!
Definitely!
Heck yeah we're keeping the theme
If they are doing haunted homes in literature they should do The Haunting of Eel Marsh (Or The Haunting of Eel Marsh House). The story of The Woman In Black.
Omg yesss
YES!!!
Hell yes!!
That could be another idea for season 3
If they wanted to for some reason do a Steven King book, they should do The Shining or 1922.
Perfectly splendid
Ross Honde flora? This you?
This theme is so amazing I’m happy they kept it just like American horror story same theme different stories and I hope they keep it in every season
I think that's Mike's plan after all. They even use the same cast from previous season just like AHS.
The defenders intro
Haunting. I Just can't wait anymore.
This video was perfectly splendid!
I have the feeling that is gonna be awesome and will make us cry a lot, like first season. I cant wait 🖤
Well u are right
Yup cry a lot I did

Legit cried for twenty minutes
the season left me a sad broken mess
I watched all Episodes in 1 day , It's perfect series
A perfectly splendid series !
What a perfectly splendid masterpiece ❤️
I never skip the opening credits.
I love the theme to this and the show so much, but having seen the finale this brings the PAIN
This is just genius! The shots, the lighting and the music together!
The Haunting turns out being one of the most influenced horror franchise!
Blu-ray out October 12th.
fantastic, an incredible atmosphere
I am obsessed with Bly Manor's story. Loved it so much. I wish for a 3° chapter of 'The Haunting of' series.
this is such a cool intro sequence; a shame that it's so short
A bit slow at the beginning, then it gets exciting after episode 7
Episodes 1, 3, 4, and 6 were slow, episodes 5, 7, 8, and 9 were exciting, and episode 2 was the creepiest for me at least.
I didn't enjoy episode 5 much but otherwise it's perfectly splendid
Epidode 4 was so sad 😢
This show was so gorgeous
I wish I could watch this and hill house for the first time all over again
This intro fits so well in the show. It's just perfect.
Love all the music this show had and the trailers
Intro of the decade! chillingly beautiful!
Another Mike Flanagan masterpiece.
It’s just...perfectly splendid!
The intro is hauntingly beautiful
I prefer this title sequence over the Hill House one. This is the only category Bly Manor surpasses Hill House in.
Wow got goosebumps while listening to this beautiful theme ❤️
I-CAN-NOT-WAIT
Love this ominous theme in both Bly and Hill House!
Intro's Perfectly Splendid
It's more like a sad love story than horror, but its still good
This song is so good.
Perfectly Splendid 😉
Binge watched it in one day :D
reminds me of the haunted mansion at Disneyland lol
Yesss finally someone said it...It’s like the stretching rooms or hallway with the paintings
Great show!
wow tremenda obra de arte asi como la de hill house
Perfectly splendid. I've watched this season 3 times. As long as you think of it as its own story rarther than comparing with Hill House, it's brilliant.
I remember i automatically skipped the opening tiles because of the screeching in the beginning.
perfect serie
After watching the show, I understand more the facial expression on the portraits, especially Rebecca's
“I never left you Becs...”
Peter & Luke, 2 incredible disgraces for a human being, each in their respective series!
I wondered why they didn't include the kids portrait on the title collage..
Edit: wait they did, it's just not the same portrait as the one on the sequence..
A well crafted love story ❤️❤️
Will there be more seasons?
We love you, Nelly.
I don't know if its just me but I love Hannah's painting
Me too!
Yess is the best one
if it's half as good as season 1, we are in for a treat.
Chills
Is it weird that Peter Quint was my favorite character? (not saying he is good) He had so much depth! His character in hill house as Luke was also amazing. I really wanted Hannah and Owen to be together, Hannah being my second favorite. Violas short role was "Perfectly splendid" and the actress who played Theodora in Hill house did an amazing job. Lastly, yes Hill house was definitely better than this one.
Haha Peter is an interesting character, not too weird he would become someone's favourite!
I hate him with all of my heart though xD A selfish asshole dragging everyone down with him. Always playing the victim (class blah blah), but being the one to constantly hurt others. The rage/control issues, tricking Rebecca into dying, letting her feel the drowning part so he wouldn't have to, tricking Miles, KILLING HANNAH! Oh, poor Hannah.
I'm sorry, no one I've talked to has seen this yet and I felt the sudden urge to scream out my hate for him. Probably because men like him exist (minus the ghost thing) and ruin peoples lives.
The fact that I can hate him with such a passion means that he's a well written character, if you ask me 😅
I think at psychological level this season is better but horror is better in hill house which made it better overall
@@CherryLipstick6x3 yeah I hate him but I love the shades of his character
@@pratyushsharma6655 really? Maybe but I think the psychological level in hill house was better...even the horror... Especially Nells bent neck lady, Luke as well as the mother going mad. Even Theo and her psychic ability. But everyone does have a preference.
@@aminam2281 Bent neck lady reveal is best part of haunting series hands down. No one can argue with me on that. But as you said for my preference some people who died in this season and not realising they are dead and keeping sanity by hannah for years is fucked up. Atleast in hill house ghosts knew they were dead. Also peter killing jessel to keep her with him is also one of the best episode for this ssn. Thats just my preference.
Its kinda cool how Hannahs portrait already has her eyes close and in a circle frame, like they tried to warn you
Well considering she didn't eat anything throughout the series, you should have seen it coming anyway 😂
It's not as scary as Hill House, but I'd argue that's because the season is not, over-all, scary. I find Bly Manor to fit more to its themes: memory, entrapment, the innability to go on. Hill House was more of forgiveness, cycles and the innability to let other's in.
Hill House is a stomach, for resentment slowly consumes you, yourself willing to do so.
Bly Manor is more of a locked trunk. Suffocating, and even if you'd wish to get out, you can't.
So, it fits that Hill House is scary, because letting someone in is scary. Forgiveness requires that you let go of the pain, that you are the one who ends it. Bly Manor is therefore dreadful, because nobody ever feels ready to let others go. In order to overcome, you must remember that the pain has already ended. And then go on, never forgetting the goodness that was.
I'd, however, throw some keys in this sequence. Maybe show Bly as heavily layered, in contrast to Hill House in its opening theme, being a labyrinth of sorts. And instead of a closing red door, a key, leaving it's keyhole, or perhaps sinking into a lake.
should i watch hill house first before this?? i'm kinda at episode 4 of bly manor already....
@@series25a No, it's okay. They are stand alone stories.
I think that Bly manor is a lot scarier than hill house especially with the lake lady
That was creepy!
This season gave all the answers of ghost’s origin, which was lacking in its ancestors storyline
Imo if they made the faces fade over the episodes in the intro, that would be much better with some slight change in the music over the episode too
She looks like james franco 0:27
And that is scary.🤣
@@saakshishetty7899 😂
Maybe it's just me, but sounds inspired by the 28 Days Later theme. Can't go wrong with that approach. I'm sure there's a music theoretical explanation - e.g., same main key/chords - but I'm no expert.
So dark and rich
Thought it was her..turns out I WAS *HER*
This show is so confusing but it’s worth it
Not really. It explains everything
@@Marco.91 yes but it has background stuff like how the ghost Viola killed were in the back of many episodes and it can get a little confusing sometimes
Gave me the vibes of the horror game Layers Of Fear
Rahul!!!!!
See i dont know how people think about this series but i dont know i have main crush on this series its really fantastic story ofcourse best series then haunting of hill housee
The Haunting of Summerwind
Why does the beginning of the music reminds me of Daredevil intro theme?
I hate that the intro is in the very beginning because Netflix automatically skips it when the next episode starts so I have to rewind it so that I can watch the intro.
This intro theme was so romantic compared to the first one
I really wish they would have used a different theme song to distinguish Bly Manor from Hill House. I think the reason I didn't enjoy Bly Manor as much was because I was constantly comparing it to Hill House. The shared theme song only made it easier to compare the two.
Not a Ghost story • It's a Love Story •
Also known as The Further Twinventures of Luke and Nell
Not as good of the first one, but still, a good hauting love story...
I would like to have paintings like this, is it possible to make it? Ofc with my likeness, not the series characters :D
Am I the only one who thinks that this intro music is somewhat similar to that of Marvel's Defenders intro music
Thank you
Wait this is the same opening as hill house, are they connected?
Same detectors just a different story
Not narratively. It's a slightly retooled arrangement of the first season. I suspect they'll use the same tun for each season with slight twists.
Yes and no. Some of the same actors but a new story. It's an anthology.
Sounds like Marvel's The Defenders opening
