No Reverse Gear Rashid. A monster of a player. His games are exquisite. I've heard stories from agadmator of him and Tal playing speed chess in Tal's flat, late into the cold Moscow nights, enjoying black tea and vodka. That would've been an absolute treat to watch.
I love playing over Nezhmetdinov's games. To me it's a grave chess injustice that this guy won the Russian Championship 5 times but was never awarded the GM title. For God's sake he beat all of the world champions and super GMs of his day. What a great player! Thanks for the video, Simon.
Not true, he never beat Tigran petrosian. In fact he struggled to beat a lot of defensive players. But I still agree with your point, anyone who has a lifetime positive score against Mikhail Tal is deserving of the GM title, Bobby Fischer didn’t even have a plus score against Tal.
@@justinbieber8028 Why you naming Bobby Fischer here? Bobby Fischer lost to Tal when wasn't at the peak of his game, at the peak he won both the games against Tal.
Number 1 was the best Ive seen Simon's and other Analysis of that game and its in the most beautiful chess games ever played list. Lev P. told Yassier S. "I had beaten Rashid a dozen times and drew him a dozen times. But I would of traded them all to have played the pieces the one game he won against me."
Keep these coming Simon! I need your lessons in order to escape the level where players need two queens to checkmate my lonely king after I made my usual blunder in blitz.
@@disasterpiece7583 I use the resign button regularly. But some are like the knight without any limbs in Monty Python that think that you are like them and don't know how to mate with just a rook. You know these guys that caught your blunder but need two queens...
@@USEER-bxleo I have literally stalemated with 3 queens before while trying to disrespect my opponent. Needless to say I spent the rest of that day banging my head against the wall... Maybe that brain damage is why I'm so bad at chess.
My favourite is the positional queen sac against Chernikov. There is no instant reward, just compensation. I think I have seen people let Stockfish and/or Leela play this one out, and the general gist of it is: the sac is sound.
Great player and he was the teacher/ friend of the magician Mikhail Tal..Can you please show us 5 mind blowing moves of Mikhail Tal, wizard of Riga :D Nice vid and keep up your great work Simon
Another tactical maniac was Kurt Richter. There is an old book with his combinations. Not so famous as Nezh but one of the greatest attackers of all time.
I think knight checks on B6 is also a good move as white has to take it with bishop, then queen takes bishop. White will move a7 pawn either 1 or two places to stop the immediate checkmate then black rook takes and white B7 pawn can't take if A7 pawn moved to A6since discovered check with the black bishop so king has to move to B8. Nothing can be done to stop a checkmate
The first game took 11 steps of calculation and much more because you have to take into account the variations and assure that king won't escape or it's over for black. Phenomenal calculation and pressured mate.
A positional queen sac? What? How? Oh, and spoilers I guess, but the killer move discussed at 5:25 is rook d8. Pinning the rook to the king and allowing queen g7 mate next move, regardless of what black does. (edit: except king h7 leading to queen h8 mate, also good)
My problem is that I do not understand algebraic notation, so please make a video on algebraic notation (nick de firmian) in particular from the book please
4:21 OMG, how can you decide here not to show the rest of the game? It is not that long anymore and now we miss some of the most beautiful moves after the initial queen sac.
Greatest Attacker ever, the best 6 years of his career were interrupted by WWII. Would have been up there with Fischer, Tal, Magnus, Kasparov and Morphy had the war not happened. Him and Harry Pillsbury would have been legends.
at 04:25 - My advice to black would be to liquidate, accept being a pawn down and play for a draw. How likely that draw is, I don't know but I think it is the best that can be done.
The one of the most underrated player of all time. He is truly the best attacker of all times, i would even say better than Tal. P.S- The killer move was Rd8!!
Most deserved player for this is Vishy.. 1 .against Levon 2. Sergey wijk 2006 3. Ivanchuck 1992 Linares 4. Against Joel 1997 5. Kramnik 2008 championship match
You should try to mention the context to make it even more interesting. At 3:00 Chernikov stands and walks around watching other games. In most cases it would have been a no brainer draw. But Rashid Nezhmetdinov starts to think. He thinks over for 40 minutes. Suddenly a young kid runs up to Chernikov and cries "Uncle, he sacrificed his queen!". As we see, Chernikov didn't stand up again before the end of the game.
In 6:47 wouldnt Ng3 work as well if the knight is taken by the bishop then queen takes rook and if Kg1 then the knight can go to e4 for example and Qxh2 would be mate
The position @4:31 looks ridiculous for black. I always wonder what happened so that that position came about. Gorgeous positional queeen sac in the 2nd one. Was that sound or can a computer refute it? Impressive move in any case.
One of my favourite chess players. this level of chess without computer analysis is just an art form. No school like old school.
Psh
Chess continuously proving itself as true Art
5:27 The KILLER MOVE is Rd8
Saw that immidiately also
🙌
Ugh, i late
I see this move at 5:25-5:23 (4 seconds before)
very easy right?
Yep, after all the hard work was done, seen that killer move right away. Pen the Rook to the King. Checkmate next move, no matter what.

I started following this channel because of these series... Freaking Ace, Simon!
Nez and his friend Tal the most entertaining players in my opinion.
Trueee
These videos are a great series, bro!
Greatness from 🇦🇿. One of the most talented players of all time.
Great , great , great games and players.
Rashid is my favourite player now!
Thank you very much
These are really really good videos. Funny, informative, crisp, well produced, just top notch content. Thanks so much!!
5:25 Rd8!!

This is a GREAT series... Thx Simon!!
the most brilliant attacker of all time (in my opinion) Nezh is such a tactical maniac!
Another tactical maniac was Kurt Richter. There is an old book with his combinations. Not so famous as Nezh but one of the greatest attackers of all time.
I think someone who equals Nezh in sacs is Michael Tal
Few others : Morphy, Alekhine, Tal, Vishy (90's), Topalov, Shirov, Kasparov, Jobava, Judith
The game against Polu was, in my humble opinion, the most fantastic combination ever.
Thank you, Super Nez is right. i want to watch these moves again, they're so good.
it quite easy to spot the outrageously attacking moves, it just hard to calculate that they work
Imagine Nez having StockFish 16 or Leela to help him prepare !! The modern Super GMs would dread to sit across the board with him for sure !!
One of the best chess player of all times. He played like Tal who I believe he’s the best ever chess player.
I really enjoy this series. Keep it up!
I love this series please, make more similar videos
Just imagine a player with the combined attacking abilities and imaginations of Nez, Tal, and Ivanchuk. Wow.

Another great video from the very entertaining GM Simon Williams.

Simon: Please name the oponent in these games. Also the tournament name etc.. Thanks.
This kind of chess play is so creative, that we should call it a piece of art.
One of the deadliest atracker of alltime
Another excellent video from GM Williams. This is the best series on the channel. I would subscribe...but I already have.

Nice one, love these attacking combos.
Do Tigran Petrosian's 5 most brilliant chess moves.
His moves are too defensive
My man doesn't need a queen to end you. Even I dont play I still love your videos and it's interesting to watch these intelligent moves
I would expect no less from the man who trained Tal.
At 5:23 Rd8, black rook take on white rook and then Qg7 checkmate
Great video. Thank you.
Positional queen sacrifice was way much satisfying.
Simon. Love QxB sac. My all time favorite. The Lock-Nezh Monster. Morphy-esque to the 2nd power!!!!
Is this in preparation for Tal? 🤓
He is Tal’s teacher btw
Love this series!!
He has many very attractive games on the board, for example with Tal, Lusikal and other players
- what was your favorite exemple ?
- yes
Rashid was the best atacker ever !!!!! 👍👍👍👍
example no. 5 is crazy I knew that position but its such an amazing sac i can watch it again
Even glimpsing at the last one only - if you have a position like this against RN you are toast.

Which match last move? Who played with GM Nezh?
These moves are to brutal and so great a human can’t deal with it Rashid nezmedinov 🔥

5:25 the killer move is Rd8
6:46 does Ng3 also win?
It seems like white can hold: Ng3 Bxg3 Qxg3 h3 Rxh3 kg1 Rh2 Nf3. But maybe I missed something. Edit: Fixed previously wrong line
