  • Ian Enochs, research ecologist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Lab, and Michael Studivan, an assistant scientist at the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science’s Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS), are running experiments to identify the Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease (SCTLD) pathogen. The disease, first identified off Miami coasts in 2014, has decimated corals in the area and continues to spread rapidly. The experiments are being conducted in an innovative NOAA coral lab at the Rosenstiel School.
