Great to hear Chris again. I started listening to Radio 1 breakfast since I was 15. When Chris left I stopped listening to all of Radio 1. Tea was always flying over the windscreen. Funny as fuck. 👍
Absolutely brilliant interview. Loved the relaxed chat. It was like we were all sat around a table in the pub and just listening to these two banter off each other. Thoroughly enjoyed that.
When chris left radio 1 i was 16 i remeber the playing the golden hr in science every friday, i skiped school to see the end of the longest show ever, i had just had my leavers assembaly at school and i was ok and when chris said he was leaving that made 16 year old me cry
Radio 1 has never been the same since Moyles, and a few years earlier Mark & Lard left the station. The line up on there these days is the 'tow the line' style management wants, but its lost its way with creativity and balls as a sacrifice. I remember Chris ripping tracks he didn't like to bits on air, like City High What Would You Do. Mark and Lard also laying into Pied Pipers Do You Really Like it. They'd be sacked on the spot for even saying they weren't feeling Stormzy's new tune too much these days.
I've no idea if Chris will ever see this but: 1. Thanks for a fascinating insight 2. Who on the show got threatened with firing for being crap? Was it Jammy James? 3. You said you had one whole year off "writing". Did anything come of that, is not something I've heard you talk about... What did you write?
Love Moylesy, he was so good for Radio 1 even if they couldn't see it - it's awful now! I get my Radio X fix now, even if they play the same 10 songs on repeat hah
Chris your as relevant now as you always have been. Greg James very boring dj, nick grimshaw absolutely horrible especially when he has a young audience and he doesn’t even try to speak properly.

He talked about what he did re: writing with Stephen Nolan and James O Brien as well I think possibly, he wrote scripts when he was in America.
