  • As part of the FMF's Campaign for Home Rule Roadshow, FMF CEO David Ansara interviews the Mayor of George, Western Cape, Leon van Wyk. The mayor outlines the city's efforts to protect itself from the deteriorating state, emphasising their primary concern for security. The George municipality has established its own safety structures similar to the Law Enforcement Advancement Plan (LEAP) implemented by the City of Cape Town. Looking ahead, the municipality aims to take control of the rail, education, and health sectors within George.

I would like to know what Knysna had to say about Law Enforcement in Sedgefield, or the lack thereof? We have a problem with people erecting dwellings on the sand dunes, which is illegal and a huge danger to themselves, should the dunes collapse. Not only is it infringing on private property, even the residents of Smutsville are complaining, but no one is listening. Everyone is at their witsend!! Knysna Municipality is dragging their heels to enforce the law!

Increase our staff, expanding our control room... and... and. To me it sounds like more government, just on a local level! As a Libertarian minded person I would like to see more outsourcing to private entities and less empire building.

Over 600 CCTV cameras already in George? OMW! Talk about "Big Brother" watching. All in the name of "safety and security"...

The term Decentralisation seems so utterly moot within this Radicalised SA of today ...
Delivery Gaps vs Legality of private endeavors?
    Kindly explain.
