    5:07 - Technically, the crimper with the indent on one side is only supposed to be used on bare crimp terminals; because, the indented part of the tool will compromise the insulation on the connector. The part with the half - moons on both sides is to be used on insulated terminals/splices. Otherwise, great instruction which includes all the steps for this repair. Thanks.

    I have a KitchenAid ksc24c8eyp02 and the freezer is not freezing. This is a slightly newer model with the control panel on the outside of the freezer door. The freezer is cold like the refrigerator portion but even that is a tad warm (40F instead of 37F). Is the defrost thermostat the only thermostat? I have searched for parts and only find the defrost thermostat WPW10225581. Have replaced the starter relay, the fans are fine, the compressor tests out ok, and the defrost coils are not built up with frost. Getting frustrated...

    My Whirpool freezer coils keep frosting over causing the fridge side to warm up. For the last few months we’ve been opening up the back to the coils, taking a hair dryer to thaw out the frost and putting it back together which ends up fixing the issue with the fridge warming up. The only really waterproof connectors they use are on the heating element, which is actually on the side or bottom of the evaporator. Should the element get power if the thermostat is gone?Because mine does,albeit makes no difference,anyone :(

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  9 лет назад +2

      gregsir You can go to our site and enter the appliance model number to view the parts breakdown and see what defrost heater is called for. If the defrost thermostat has failed in a open circuit the heater would not get power, if it failed with the contacts fused together in a closed circuit the heater would be on during the whole defrost cycle. The defrost thermostat is a safety thermostat that turns the heater of and on during the defrost cycle so it does not over heat the freezer and defrost the food.

      @@appliancepartspros Model: WRS321SDHZ01 thank you. The problem is that the evaporator gets iced and over the time creates a big block of ice and I have to thaw it out every now and then.

      Are you able to hear the evaporator fan running by chance?

    I wish my Whirpool came with screws all around. It only has screws on the bottom the rest snap on the side which tend to fall out leaving gaps once you reassemble, poor design.

      +AppliancePartsPros About every 3 months I get a 1 inch thick ice slab behind the panel. I probably need this defrost thermostat.

      +Frank Roper If it is not defrosting it could be any of the parts in the defrost system, thermostat, timer, or the heater. You can also post the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem.
