  • Learn simple metal clay jewelry making techniques to create a pretty floral silver clay pendant. Sculpt it with any torch fired silver clay, including Art Clay Silver and Precious Metal Clay.
    If you know how to create polymer clay jewelry, you can easily sculpt silver clay jewelry with PMC3, Precious Metal Clay, then fire it with a butane torch and have lovely fine silver (nearly 100% silver) jewelry.
    Fine silver is as pure silver as possible, 99.9% pure silver. Sterling silver is only 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper, so fine silver jewelry is even more precious, plus it doesn't tarnish as easily as sterling silver jewelry.

    Olive oil, for keeping clay from sticking to hands and tools
    Small spray bottle of water, for keeping clay hydrated
    If you are going to be keeping your clay for any length of time, add 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar per cup of water to prevent mold developing in your clay

    Small airtight storage containers
    Small terra-cotta pot (soak in water)
    Saucer or plate to put terra-cotta pot on (cannot be unglazed terra-cotta)

    Nice job. I like that you didn't make everything perfect so we could see how to fix things. When beginning, life is full of mistakes so I can use as many tips as possible.

      It’s something you SHOULD definitely respect. The best way to consider using it is with care and planning.
      If you have all of your safety gear and tools at the ready and know exactly what you’re going to do, then you can approach it confidently.

      @@SandyHuntress I honestly think I don’t have the area with cleared space enough to use it inside my house so maybe I’ll try it outside.

    does it tarnish?

    • @SandyHuntress
      @SandyHuntress  7 месяцев назад

      That's a great question! Sterling silver tarnishes because it is 7.5% copper, and it's the copper that oxidizes. However this is fine silver, which is 99.99% silver, so it may darker over time, but it will do it very slowly compared with sterling.
