Loved this video Leonie!! I love colour with neutrals and juxtaposition of feminine and masculine in the same outfit. I think you covered so many possibilities:) thank you Barb
Great video Leoni as always❤ Solid color sneakers are great specially navy. I have a silver one but not so shiny its very subtle and yes its goes with everything.
Gen x here and I never left the high socks! Ive literally come back around and am now fashionable again!!LOL Also love a floaty summer dress with hi tops and socks.
My sneakers are strictly for comfort. I wear Hokas, exclusively. I’ve had many knee and back surgeries and don’t care about anything but comfort..I was originally wearing Adidas and the difference between brands is night and day!
Oooh so glad chunky sneakers are ok to wear with a lot more things! Going to Portugal and need to have comfy shoes!! I’m conservative and colorful shoes …??…. I would be worried about shoes being loud! So got light gray color….. On cloud runner 2.
I don't care for the cut -off look of the legs with socks over a legging for the most part. The rest of it - I say bring it on! It's a go for me. I have worn sneakers and combat style boots with dresses for years. When you are from the teenage true hippie days of the '60's you can pretty well accept it all....and I do. Well, I don't want my butt hanging out , but I say if you are comfortable and it makes you feel good and confidant then wear it. Our fashion is the least of what should worry us in these days. Great show, Cheryl
Slightly longer running socks are the jam, they don’t fall down like the invisible sock. Add a pop of colour too 😊 I’ve been enjoying a bootie suede sneaker that has the sneaker sole and a leather outer for a bit of style uplift.
My favorite sneakers are a slim-profile, metallic leather pair in *pewter* that I bought several years ago. A bit of shine, but more muted, and very versatile. Now that they’ve been thoroughly broken-in, they’ve developed character that somehow makes them even more attractive (odd, bc I usually want my shoes to look pristine). I also have a similar pair in black, with a gunmetal-colored metallic trim. I love the interest that a subtle metallic touch adds to a shoe, but a very bright and shiny full-on metallic sneaker probably isn’t for me.
What’s in style has only a mild influence on what I wear but for many years-I’m 65 I’ve worn leggings, socks and sneakers. Strictly for practical reasons-I don’t like to be cold.
I wore a navy t-shirt dress and my silver ryka's today. I bought the sneakers last year to wear for the holidays, but they looked perfect with my outfit today.
Nice to see so many colorful sneaker options, although brands like Ecco, Taos, et al. bring out colorful, sleek sneakers for spring. I find colors easier to style (and keep clean) than white. Love gray, yellow, and blush-beige. Not sure I’d stretch to wearing silver, though!
I have the dolce vita notice sneaker in crinkled silver and i absolutely love them, they go with just about anything and are super comfy. I'm also into nike air jordans and dunks in colors
I hate big chunky trainers but I do love the slimline o especially. I have the adidas spezials in og white and the bright red. I love them. They go with all my outfits.
I’m 49 and started wearing crew socks with my sneakers to the gym. At first I was hesitant because we wore this style in the 80s, but once I tried it a few times I liked the change from years of no-show socks. All the “cool kids” are wearing it 😅
I always like your videos and I love wearing sneakers as the “wrong shoe” with dresses but I’m wondering - does nobody work anymore? I’m a psychiatrist and I have my own practice and I do often wear sneakers or sandals or whatever I want to my own office, but I can’t wear those to places like court or jail (I’m a forensic psychiatrist). I’d love to see some modern cute looks that are also appropriate for more traditional settings since we can’t all be influencers, unfortunately.
I don’t mind socks with gym wear but I don’t like socks sneakers with dresses. Like the wrong shoe theory especially with a pop of colour. I have a lot of black and navy and a shot of colour on your feet is fun!🦋
I absolutely love my shiny silver Nikes. I actually find they look great with a ton of different outfits. I love shiny things, though. Great video! After watching your video, I’d like to try a colorful pair next. Cheers!
I have a pair of bright purplish pink adidas from 10 years ago that I’d hardly worn. Thankfully stored in a covered basket so they could breathe and not deteriorate. I’ve been wearing them this summer with cropped wide leg and slim leg pants, denim, etc, they are awesome 😎 But when someone asks where I bought them they don’t believe they’re that old 😂
I have a pair of Vans quilted slip on, a pair of Keds Professional woodland camo, a pair of Gola Liberty print in navy blue floral. They are new in box never worn and on Poshmark to be sold. I do love them very very much but they are not my everyday go to canvas sneakers like my Chuck Taylor. I like the idea of silver or all over bling sneakers but I returned every pair that I ever bought. Even though they don’t make my feet boat like (I have small feet), they still take eyes down, making me look even shorter.
I love the colourful sneakers, they are gazelles and spezials, not sambas. I get a lot of wear from my pink pair and blue pair, highly recommend getting some x
I tried on a pair of Adidas sambas last year and found them terribly uncomfortable! I remain a dad sneaker stan. Last winter I bought a few pairs of sneakers that are all men's: a crazy colorful pair that I frankly have not worn, a white pair that almost looks like lace--I wore those to work a lot, a pair of New Balance's in dark earthy colors. I also bought a pair of Onitsuka tigers, but they are light pink. They don't have stripes, but there are perforations that follow the outline of the stripes. They are so comfortable!
I currently have long socks on😂 I love trying out trends and the older I get the more adventurous I get. To be honest, this particular trend is a nod to my childhood self as this was very popular when I was in middle and high school. Nostalgia is a good inspiration for outfits when you get stuck in a rut too! I’m not crazy about the silver sneakers (although the adidas samba is kind of cute!) I do like metallic loafers though! I have a pair of cheetah print converse! And I will never wear chunky dad sneakers because I wear a size 10 so I they look like moon boots😂
I would wear these: 6:597:04. They are somewhat subtle, not screaming in-your-face "hi, look at my silver sneakers" look, if you know what I mean. 🤣 The super-silvery ones are a bit much and would be a no for me. I've never really cared to follow sneaker trends, though. 🤷♀ They come and go so quickly, I just can't keep up.
The wrong shoe theory is great, but not exactly new. I recall my young teen daughter(who is now 45) wearing short blue jean coveralls, a pink tee shirt, pink socks and yellow men’s style high-top, lace-up work-boots. It was adorable because of the contrast between the young and girlie and the total opposite.
I think that as one gets older some of the very “young” trends (ie: socks, sneakers with lace skirts) make us look older and that we are desperately trying to recapture youth. Sneakers with trousers looks age appropriate and depending on the sneaker style, can even look classy, but, in my opinion, a lot of these looks look clownish to me. However, anything goes when you’re really young; that’s when all fashion mistakes are forgiven.
Love the comfortable sneaker look while still looking classic and effortless. Hate the weird pairings. I think a wide leg trouser with a sneaker 👟 looks smart and edgy. The sneakers with a lace skirt or childish dress is going to look super dated in 3 months. Also, it never really looks good IRL unless you are super slim or above average attractive/chic. Feeling inspired I need a new pair!
I have a strong feeling that Sambas, as cute as they are, will be considered "out" in no time, because they came in super popular last year. You see them everywhere, almost too much, including on the Old Navy and H&M websites on the models, and when that happens with an item, it quickly becomes dated.
The tall socks make my legs looked knock kneed. I think of Kenny Smith from inside the NBA. And it makes me hips looks even smaller. Im sad I could not work this trend 😢
I’m boycotting Adidas after what they said about their brand ambassador Bella Hadid yesterday. I bought silver sneakers to wear with my metallic jeans, but I think they will pop with anything.i also bought a pair of butter yellow sneakers, totally different for me.
Love sneakers...yes to colours yes to neutrals...even bought red tartan hitop sneakers but still a no from me to socks showing. Like the look on some people but for me it breaks the vertical line and chops the leg line in an unflattering way.
I’ve noticed this long sock/sneaker trend not just with leggings but with everything in girls ranging 13-20. My 18 year old self had a flash back to before no-show socks where we had to fold them down over our ankles to get them not to show 😂
I LOVE sneakers, and invest more in that type of shoe than others. I have a very active lifestyle, so it’s mandatory for me to have numerous styles to go with outfits from the gym to date night. Socks are a fun way to add interest to a gym outfit. The leggings must be full length, though;). Great video!
I love pair my sneakers with dresses that’s and chunky loafers, the only ways to dress it down. I am looking of high platform sneakers Gucci& adidas ones. I like that it’s still sneakers with adidas stripes but really high almost 4 ‘ platform, so it’s shoes as well. And great to wear with those super long jeans or skirts , instead of heels …I saw on preloved sites gold one. If would be silver I would got it, but gold I don’t know. And white with green also not sure. They still quite pricey…So I will look for silver 🤔 I. Have low ones in silver with navy, and black with gold from Chanel, and it’s not so branded , there is cc not too visible but they are not chunky. Prada chunky white ones, but sometimes, I prefer something chunky but simple. Have a blessed day🙏❤️
We call them “uh-Dee-dus” …Adidas…all day I dream about soccer…there’s a famous Run DMC hip hop song about the shoes from the 80s when they were at the height of street style called “My Adidas”
I definitely don't like the socks with the sneakers. It has taken me a long time to just wear the sneakers. (I never wore them for years) I have small feet and preferred more dainty shoes. The silver shoes are not a new trend they were around a lot a few yrs ago. I like this look
I think the wrong shoe theory is an example of how something practical became a trend. Wearing sneakers with office attire or formal wear brings to mind NYC women commuting to work by train. They wore sneakers for comfort because they had to walk up/down stairs and several blocks to/from the train in all types of weather. They would then change their shoes to something office appropriate when they arrived to the office.
I like silver sneakers on everyone who looks good in cool metals. I prefer gold metallics. I love my colorful chunky sneakers. I like Ryka because they are available in wide width with great arch support and heel support that prevents pronation and supation. Keeping my knees aligned properly helps me get in the most steps without pain. Pain is not a good look on me. I have a combination of slim, chunky, walking, running and hiking "sneakers". I missed the Converse moment. I am only missing tomato red sneakers. I have brown and beige sneakers but also wear jewel tones as neutral complements. My periwinkle, seafoam, raspberry, peach, pink and violet sneakers require a little more thought but pair well with analogous colors that are lighter or darker. Bright orange with pale pink are a nice surprise. Sneakers are one more color area to PLAY with and NOT take it too seriously. So bin those boring white sneakers and force yourself to have fun and giggle.
I like the look of silver sneakers, especially the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico for the slim retro shape, but I am hesitant to go for it, because it is too viral of a trend right now. I will wait it out for now and see if I like it next year still. I do love my Onitsukas EDR78 in olive green though and am wearing them constantly. That little pop of orange in the back is just "chefs kiss" I do like the leggings with socks looks. I am not sure yet about visible socks and dresses though. My ankles are rather thick and I think it draws too much attention to them. I only wear it like that when the dress/skirt is very long and ends on the shoe or at least low on the ankle. I love adding contrast with shoes. I have a mustard yellow adidas pair that I didn't wear for the longest time. I think I've had them for like 8 years or something. I was about to donate them a couple of years ago but I gave them a second go and started pairing them with the "wrong" outfits because I got bored with the standard white. Loving them now LOL Even my husband noticed "Ok so these sneakers... they don't really go with these elegant bermudas and that nice shirt, but they do? It's a very IDGAF vibe and I like it!" I explained that I could have gone with white sneakers or a sandal as the obvious and safe choice but wanted to add a little "extra". "I get it I get it, you look cool🥰" He likes to analyze and understand my styling choices😄 sometimes he comes home and goes "you know that thing with the thing you started wearing last year? I've seen it on a few people now. My love, always ahead of fashion🥰" It fills him with joy for some reason and I think that's adorable. OR he knows it makes me happy that he is interested because he knows I put a lot of thought into everything I do. Whatever the reason, it's great LOL
I love the silver trainers. Unfortunately a lot of them are only stocked in the ladies sizes and I've got big feet so I need to buy mens trainers so I think I might struggle to get some. I think those leopard print trainers are hideous! Everything I've read says that Sambas as a trend are over although Gazelles are still on trend. Basically Rishi Sunak killed the trend! I'm still wearing mine though as I love them and they are so comfortable. I've bought the Gazelles in navy and in Sky blue rather than a stand out colour like the red or green. Navy go with jeans and the sky blue go with all my summer clothes and very light wash jeans. That way they'll still be wearable once the trend passes.
As an older lday, bring on the sneakers, I say! Any kid, every day. I found a.pair of red Adidas Gazelles that look great with my wide leg jeans, with shorts, even with a red dress I've got, for the "wrong shoe" look. I'm tall and i can wear sneakers with socks, too.
It's really funny how we get influenced by what we see ... for so many years I have worn only non visible socks with sneakers. Since I am seeing so many people, specially young people including my kids, I more and more started liking socks that can be seen. I do not wear leggings (only for jogging) but for all other sneaker outfits I really prefer visible socks now! I recognized that with so many other styles. First you think omg, I will never wear this! And then, after a while you can't help getting into the trend and you don't understand why you haven't worn it always like that...
Tall socks, especially white ones, makes me think of my dad! Yup I get it’s a trend. But this 60 YO thinks of it as an old man thing. Just where we are on the cycle I guess
Definitely no socks, and no leggings either - leave them for the gym, make a bit of an effort and just get dressed ladies! It doesn't take much to put on a pair of jeans instead of leggings. Lovely Leonie, when you feature examples of a certain trend in your videos you always show very wacky outfits. I live in London and I don't see anyone wearing this kind of outfits, many of the ones you show are plain ridiculous, please show us something more wearable that would also appeal to women over 40s, not just young people who use clothes to get noticed
As usual these trends cater to long legged narrow body types.......i'll stick to my short boots and birks for summer! socks and sneakers cut off the length in your legs, not cute.
Scandi? This is not a Western thing. I've been seen these socks and chunky dad shoe looks in East Asia for the past 5 years+ That and baggy clothes, long skirts and minimalistic old money styles. I remember everything in the US being skin tight and living in Taiwan during the pandemic and seeing everyone in the current looks and then going oh, I guess the West is now following Asian style trends once it all made its way here.
Interesting... I just noticed that all of your pictures of women in different styles? Not one Asian female. Scrolled through a few more of your videos. Very very very few Asians. Considering how many there are nowadays in the modeling industry, it's obvious which way you lean. Very telling. Thanks for decluttering my feed.
I love that socks are making a comeback!!!
Love the silver sneaker
Leoni, fabulous video on sneakers! Very much appreciated!
Love my silver sneakers with white in particular.
Loved this video Leonie!! I love colour with neutrals and juxtaposition of feminine and masculine in the same outfit. I think you covered so many possibilities:) thank you Barb
Yay, thank you!
Love the crew sock look! Just bought myself some tube socks from the 80s for the gym!
Looking forward to the silver sneakers
Great video Leoni as always❤ Solid color sneakers are great specially navy. I have a silver one but not so shiny its very subtle and yes its goes with everything.
Gen x here and I never left the high socks! Ive literally come back around and am now fashionable again!!LOL
Also love a floaty summer dress with hi tops and socks.
When I'm at the gym, I'm not worrying about whether my socks are in style! Strictly function!!
Naw I gotta like what I see in the mirror at the gym. Look good, you feel good, you have a good workout
My sneakers are strictly for comfort. I wear Hokas, exclusively. I’ve had many knee and back surgeries and don’t care about anything but comfort..I was originally wearing Adidas and the difference between brands is night and day!
Still Own a pair of silver white sneakers from years ago. Glad I kept them 😉
Oooh so glad chunky sneakers are ok to wear with a lot more things! Going to Portugal and need to have comfy shoes!! I’m conservative and colorful shoes …??…. I would be worried about shoes being loud! So got light gray color….. On cloud runner 2.
LOVE Silver sneakers! I love silver tho, I never get tired of it and own several silver
pieces.
Pink! Last year and still love them
I don't care for the cut -off look of the legs with socks over a legging for the most part.
The socks cutting off my legs must be the problem cause it makes my hips look smaller and my legs look knocked kneed 😢
I love silver sneakers! Been wearing them
What’s in style has only a mild influence on what I wear but for many years-I’m 65 I’ve worn leggings, socks and sneakers. Strictly for practical reasons-I don’t like to be cold.
I wore a navy t-shirt dress and my silver ryka's today. I bought the sneakers last year to wear for the holidays, but they looked perfect with my outfit today.
Sounds super cute!
That does sound like a cute outfit!
This gives me motivation to pair my bright orange rebocks with something other than my gym wear! 🎉
Love that!
love the socks!
I LOVE the longer socks and have even been wearing with short!
Love a silver trainer ❤
Nice to see so many colorful sneaker options, although brands like Ecco, Taos, et al. bring out colorful, sleek sneakers for spring. I find colors easier to style (and keep clean) than white. Love gray, yellow, and blush-beige. Not sure I’d stretch to wearing silver, though!
Ecco quality is fantastic!!!
I love my chrome Jordan’s
I have the dolce vita notice sneaker in crinkled silver and i absolutely love them, they go with just about anything and are super comfy. I'm also into nike air jordans and dunks in colors
my absolute fave walking shoes which i wear with jeans too: Asics Gel 1130 Silver on beige ❤❤
I hate big chunky trainers but I do love the slimline o especially. I have the adidas spezials in og white and the bright red. I love them. They go with all my outfits.
I have an old pair of turquoise Pumas that have come in handy. ❤
Perfect!
Yes to silver sneakers my Adidas stan smith are very cool wear with all black and a white cap to tone down never with loud colors.
Bottom line wear what you want no matter the trends 🎉😂❤just be comfy and be YOU 😊
Yay just purchased some lovely bright orange sneakers, glad they are in fashion, just liked the colour and I’ll wear them with white or khaki 💪😀
Looking for some 'smart' slimline sneakers for Euro travel this October... The beige-y neutrals may be handy.
They are super versatile that's for sure!
They all cute 🥰
I’m 49 and started wearing crew socks with my sneakers to the gym. At first I was hesitant because we wore this style in the 80s, but once I tried it a few times I liked the change from years of no-show socks. All the “cool kids” are wearing it 😅

Yes I hear you on the socks with sneakers and dresses. I'm not sure I'm ready for that look either x
I absolutely love my shiny silver Nikes. I actually find they look great with a ton of different outfits. I love shiny things, though. Great video! After watching your video, I’d like to try a colorful pair next. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing!! I may revisit the silver sneakers as I love anything shiny too x

AWESOME!!!
Nobody believes my Doc Marten originals are 40 years old, either. They really are
Really like the unexpected pairing. 👟👟👟
Love love love my silver tiger sneaker ❤👟
Totokaelo style are very stunning and trendy
I can wear a big kid size 4. I have new pink adidas with a gold emblem. They are the bomb!
LUCKY!

Hi Leonie, May I ask where your top is from ? Love it !
I love the colourful sneakers, they are gazelles and spezials, not sambas. I get a lot of wear from my pink pair and blue pair, highly recommend getting some x
Love the video but I don’t see the inks to the shoes
Sorry I forgot but they are there now!
Never heard of the wrong shoe theory. 😮 thanks ❤

I’m trying to figure out if I get pale blue or bold red and white sambas, so I’m on the fence atm to🤔

ah yes, the 90's Grunge era 🥰 I had black combat boots myself and wore those with everything

I missed that - what did they say?
@@Thestyleinsider.They dropped her for her Palestine activism. Not a brand I would buy
😂🤣
Adidas will be around and become even more popular despite people like you. When will people learn to leave politics out of stuff?! 🙄
Silver sneakers … 👟 done right … on the hunt
Have 3 silver sneakers get a ton of competition and it makes your casual more trendy
Love sneakers...yes to colours yes to neutrals...even bought red tartan hitop sneakers but still a no from me to socks showing. Like the look on some people but for me it breaks the vertical line and chops the leg line in an unflattering way.

I LOVE sneakers too and wear them more than any other shoe!
I'm just like you, wear mostly just sneakers and it's always a cool pair of sneakers for datenight instead of heels😘
I’m 69 and I love the crew socks with leggings!!
Im all for the colorful sneakers but fang, I can't make up my mind which color to choose. 🤔
Sweden sneakers on everything. Young, old wear until white turns brown nothing like cleaning😂

I do like the leggings with socks looks.
Loving them now LOL
Even my husband noticed "Ok so these sneakers... they don't really go with these elegant bermudas and that nice shirt, but they do?
Links?
Sorry I forgot but I've added them now x
I don't like skinny, leggings. I wear straight leg to gym. Maybe a pool shoe in winter? No socks.
I own a pair of silver, slim style sneakers and I love them. But the visible sockers trend is a definite no for me.
Sneakers & Leggings FOR THE GYM PLEASE
No show socks. Im 53. I do like unexpected details.
Nice!
Tall socks, especially white ones, makes me think of my dad! Yup I get it’s a trend. But this 60 YO thinks of it as an old man thing. Just where we are on the cycle I guess
I hear you 😫😂
Well.. if socks, only with long legs.
I hate chunky sneakers. What are the brands that have slimmer type sneakers.
Longer sock. No thanks. Never ever.
Adidas burgundy
No to silver sneakers but l due like silver other shoes
🙏🏼
Definitely no socks, and no leggings either - leave them for the gym, make a bit of an effort and just get dressed ladies! It doesn't take much to put on a pair of jeans instead of leggings. Lovely Leonie, when you feature examples of a certain trend in your videos you always show very wacky outfits. I live in London and I don't see anyone wearing this kind of outfits, many of the ones you show are plain ridiculous, please show us something more wearable that would also appeal to women over 40s, not just young people who use clothes to get noticed
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💪
Definitely agree!
❤❤❤♥️♥️♥️👍👏
As usual these trends cater to long legged narrow body types.......i'll stick to my short boots and birks for summer! socks and sneakers cut off the length in your legs, not cute.
I def agree socks and sneakers cut off your legs but it’s such a popular look atm 😫😂

Boycott Adidas!!

So sick of Sambas
