[PM] Pokémon Platinum - Champion Cynthia

edit: I appreciate the healing item usage being bad but this video is almost SEVEN YEARS OLD. I don't use healing items in my newer videos!
I adore the battle background in this one, as well as Cynthia's animation. The background is a lot better than Lance's in HGSS imo.
Spiritomb, having no weaknesses outside of an exploitable but not natural Fighting weakness, always presents the annoying problem of "What should lead?" I decided to go to Altaria for the fact that it had a stat up move. After four DDs and a couple of Hyper Potions (due to Spiritomb's 3HKO) I used Dragon Claw and took it out, possibly thanks to the critical hit.
Next came in Garchomp, who was actually the primary reason I chose Altaria (I have Ice Beam on Empoleon and Ice Punch on Electivire, but both are weak to Ground). Dragon Dance meant that Altaria quickly got a Dragon Claw in and took it down.
Next came Lucario, who also died to my dragon, albeit this time from Earthquake.
Milotic came in next. I had a fear that Altaria wouldn't OHKO it despite the tripled attack and unfortunately that came to reality; it missed the KO and Milotic shot off an Ice Beam. The next logical choice was Electivire; I sent it in, used Thunderpunch and took it out.
Togekiss came next, who also died to two Thunderpunches. Aura Sphere just wasn't enough to take down Vire, despite the level difference.
Roserade was last, and she knocked out Electivire before I could get an Ice Punch off. I could have easily gone for Houndoom here, but I ended up going for Gallade to exploit Roserade's much lower physical defense. Sludge Bomb failed to knock out Gallade thanks to his excellent Special Defense and then one Psycho Cut later and Roserade fell, making me the champion! Well, at least giving me the abilities of a champion. I never did actually stand there and wait for people, after all.
Hall of Fame is in as usual, but unlike Diamond there's still a lot more to cover before I'm done with Plat.

That altaria dragon dance strategy is super op. I replayed platinum and used altaria because of watching this vid. My level 57 altaria 1 hit KOed her entire team after using dragon dance till my stats couldn't get any higher. The only difference is, I used roost instead of abusing potions.

You need someone to set up entry hazards and someone with Drizzle and the Full Restores aren't needed.
Basically, the entry hazards help you drain some health when they are sent. Drizzle causes Rain and Magikarp has Swift Swim, so it becomes faster in rain. Have all Magikarp hold a Focus Sash to ensure they remain at 1 HP, then spam Flail. Flail deals more damage if the user has less HP. Use some other Pokemon to deal with Spiritomb.
You can also have a Pokemon with Roar or Whirlwind. It causes automatic switching and can drain a lot of HP

Never had a hard time with her tbh. Maybe it's because by the time I got DPPt, I've already learned EV-training, in addition to which moves to use better, and the Physical-Special split.

The strangest thing happened when I was fighting Cynthia. She sent out her Garchomp and I sent out my Garchomp. After that she missed FOUR FREAKING DRAGON RUSHES! I was able to win with my level 50 Garchomp. ( I lost to her four times before that.)
Also, no emulator. Just a real DS.

@@massigshorts yea its a ghost type. Ghosts are weak to dark types. If its a primarily dark type, use foresight and a fighting move.

Lucario isn't weak to Psychic. It's only weak to Fighting, Fire, & Ground. Flying isn't effective against it as well.

From my very apparent fire weakness her flamethrower garchomp gave me quite the trouble, but after 5 tries i managed to sweep with sword dance gliscor and a few Full restores. It only took me 5 tries but it still was the hardest champion fight in my opinion.
