I watched every single movie/series except for the Indian one. The same plot but each of them has its twist. I guess it's up to the viewer what their preference is. For me though because it was my first series and it touches my heart was the Korean Version plus I like their OSTs. Though I don't understand the songs it touches my heart and matches the drama. That is my opinion as a viewer. I didn't like the ending but I like the 2005 Hana Yori Dango Ending.

Story wise, hana yori dango 2005 is the best.. It really portrays how powerful the F4 is and their families and most of all, makino and domyouji chemistry is beyond imagination. Matsujun really shows that the character is somewhat stupid and smart at the same time. Lol. But the F4 in meteor garden hits like a storm! I super love them 😍

Hana yori dango series (2005) has the most realistic female protagonist. She is the most fearless and strongest out of all adaptation. The japanese series storyline until season 2 was the best. And Matsujun's acting as domyouji is chef kiss. Meteor garden was the most popular but the season 2 was a downfall..because of how they made it too long that I aside from the amnesia parts, people really forgot what happened. I myself remember scnes mostly on season 1 only lol. Boys over flowers was okay, but they fell short with the acting. The chinese version was funny and they look like ordinary rich brats instead of powerful sons of wealthy people. The japan movie was the most hilarious with all the effects. Its really the live adaptation of the manga. Haha 😂

Hana Yori Dango 2005- Even after many tries, it still feel the same way. The chemistry, chills, and this version really defined how powerful F4 was in Japan. Maybe because of the good storyline and the songs are very good as well. Plus the movie wherein they got married and she got pregnant. Happy ending ❤
Boys over flowers- I realized that Leeminho's acting durinh this era was really stiff (im sorry for the fans but he has improved).. Still good but cant finish it.

Hana Yori Dango the Anime and the 2005 Japanese version will always have a special place in my heart. These in my honest opinion are the best adaptations of the original source material. Jun and Mao did such a fantastic job that they fell in love on set and eventually got married in real life....really was happy ending for us fans.

I've seen all versions!! From the anime version to Meteor Garden to Hana Yori Dango to Boys Over Flowers to the most recent one. Meteor Garden is special because it reminds me of my childhood (haha laking pinas). Loved the anime and korean version (BOF) too but out of all the versions, HANA YORI DANGO will always have a special place in my heart! The chemistry, the story line... everything was just perfect! I cried so many times, I laughed too and when the series ended, I was seriously so sad that I would cry sometimes (haha silly young me)! I'm in my late 20's now and I still watch it from time to time. Domyouji and Makino forever!!!!! I love them so much that I went to Tokyo just to visit Ebisu Garden, the place where they had their first "date" haha

2001 is the most iconic for Filipinos I guess. Coz here in the Philippines, even if you're a kid, a teen or an adult... DAO MING SI and SANCHAI were loved. Actually even up to this day.

For me it was such a dissapointment that I didn't even watch the last episode. Everything was rushed through like they wanted it to be over and fast with that you couldn't even appreciate the plot. It started out great, but it just fell flat after the first 2 episodes.

My personal ranking:
1. Hanayori Dango 2005- it has season 1 & 2 and even have a movie! I've been watching it for a hundredth times and I still love it.
2. Meteor Garden 2001- well honestly this one is beyond comparison. This is where the f4 fever started and it actually marked the whole world. I just don't seem to like a bit about the season two: Dao Ming Si's amnesia is so painful and long.
3. Boys Over Flowers(2009)- I so love Korean dramas and Im so happy when they made a Korean version of this. This version is good too but the saddest part though is the ending left me hanging and I still want a season 2 until now!
4: Meteor Garden 2018- the leads are fresh and young, the story suits the modern generation. Less violence and even played some original osts from MG 2001! I heard they're going to make a movie but still unsure.
There's this fifth version from Thailand showing soon. Im looking forward to watching it. This story will never get old, I admire the author of the manga so well. ❤️

I rewatched the 2001 version recently and I never really realized how serious the tone of that entire show was. I guess that's one of the reasons why it worked so well, it felt a bit more realistic (and thus more relatable)

Agreed, I rewatched recently and it hit me just how raw its depiction of violence, bullying, and sexual assault is. Shancai's characterization is also more brutal than the other versions, she's a girl toughened by the endless cruelty that surrounds her. I find it super refreshing and definitely more relatable.
And also how terrible Asian drama glamorises those topics and their solutions to it is that she eventually falls in love with the jerks over the good guy. Hella toxic society ☹️

I think in the Philippine context, 2001 Meteor Garden is the most iconic. Prior to it, Mexican telenovelas were the craze. Filipino audiences wanted more asian dramas and when the other taiwanese dramas that followed weren't as good, we ended up watching korean dramas. They were even called koreanovelas back then and now it's k-drama.

Meteor Garden reopened this story to the world in 2001 but the best for me is Hanadan 2005. Acting wise and ost wise. It's impressive how they revised the storyline from Meteor Garden but shortened it to 11 episodes per season (i think). HYD still the best!

The way San Chai hits Dao (Taiwan) is very natural compare to others who look animated and cringey.
Looking at their expressions, no one can beat them - SH’s toughness and DMS’ shocked face that hint you to a possible romance.

In real life, a girl would hardly be able to knock out a man. Therefore, Makino from the Japanese version of 2005 is objectively the most natural shot. Doesn't fly in the air like a ninja, and has been hitting boys since childhood. And it was a very serious moment, without cheerful music in the background. And this look of Domeji, full of love and bewilderment, is the most realistic without overacting.

Meteor Garden '01 and Jerry Yan & Barbie Hsu's chemistry will always have a place in my heart, but HanaDan has put me on such a chokehold ever since I watched it. Jun Matsumoto & Mao Inoue's chemistry is absolutely unmatched! Also just everyone in that cast was SO good. The pacing was great through the entire series and it had the perfect balance of humor and angst. Never fails to make me laugh & cry hard even though I've already watched it so so so many times. Also the OSTs were super duper iconic, especially 'Love So Sweet' & 'Flavor of Life'! 💯👑
I first watched the Japanese 2006 version in 2010. Then 2016 Korean. I recently watched a Thailand one. Every director, screenwriter has his own vision, so all versions are good in their own way. I have favorite scenes in everyone. The 1995 film is special to me because it is the first adaptation of a manga and a good comedy. Let the main character fly when the main character hits against the background of funny music. Nowadays, a good comedy, where you can laugh well and heartily, is rarely done.

Debo admitir que primero vi Meteor Garden, me dejó con tremenda crisis existencial cuando la terminé y duró mucho tiempo como mi Dorama favorito, había visto BOF pero tipo solo los 2 primeros capítulos, de ahí no la pasaba, hasta que un día me puse a verla completa de principio a fin y Ay Dios mío! La competencia de cual es mi Dorama favorito entre las dos versiones del mismo manga está cañona, simplemente creo que no puedo elegir 😓
