/r/Eurovision recently concluded the first top 37 rankings, and this song came in first by a MILE. And I totally get why. It's in my top 5 too and I would not be surprised to see it competing for the win in May.
The winner will either be Sweden or Finnland this year. No other country comes close to those two. Sweden will win the jury voting with Finnland winning the televote.
I see what will be the challenge is this: it is a better/more clever song than Tattoo, but Loreen's voice power and emotive performance will be the giant hurdel to overcome. It is amazing that those two will be duking it out... will a 3rd song managed to squeak in between them as they are bloodying each other?
I have to compliment the choreography of this song. It's amazing. Let me explain this. Yes Käärijä's dance moves, outfit and gestures are very camp on purpose and professional dancers are brilliant. Like many people have mentioned in earlier comments, this song is about social awkwardness and letting self regard loose after a few drinks. Suddenly a shy person is not afraid of a dance floor anymore but decides to have fun feeling great and being on top of the world. I bet everyone has seen that "hulk dance" in night clubs. Yes the message is: It's crazy, it's party, it's Fun. For everyone....come as you are and don't compare yourself with others.
It is not much deep song but it is far from joke song. being socialy awkvard is serous problem for those ppl and he is singing about that. I find video much better to understand what is song about, but this live is epic and much much better for ESC. Pure energy
The tongue is the gesture of respect to Till Lindemann from German Industrial metal band Rammstein, I assume, bc Käärijä is a fanboy. The outfit is a part of a Mexican wrestling costume (watch the MV). Anyways: Cha Cha Cha is a gem! 💚🥳💃🕺💃#itscrazyitsparty
He looks in the costume like Hulk for me , angry Hulk at the beginning who loosens up at the end I will vote many times for this song because I want that Käärij wins, I want that he is happy because he makes me with this song happy
There is a official video with English lyrics. It's about wanting to let go after a hard week but only after a few pina coladas goes to the dance floor and being free...he is a rapper and known as the shirtless rapper, so the sleeves costume has to do with that. The song is both lyrically and musically genius. The pallets has to do that in Finnish pallet is called "lava" and that also means stage in english, so he is kind of performing in and on the eurostage, eurolava, so to say, something the Finn's know.
I see the song as a moment in every person who wants to have fun, something that is not suitable for a normal person, something that is out of the box, and who wants to provoke society a little, but then goes back to normal behavior, that's when the song calms down . Cha cha cha is, in my opinion, just a sung word choice which works very well and can be sung by anyone, regardless of language background..
I wouldn't call it profound, it's a simplish party song, buuut, there's a lot of interesting stuff going on in the details. On one hand it kind of is just a song about getting drunk to relax and have fun at a club... buuuut really it's more about letting go of social anxiety and stress in general. It's really more about why people drink than drinking as such. It makes you go "okay I do drink to relax, but maybe it's not great that I need to do that? Maybe it's not bad either?" Because the guy in the early parts of the song so clearly isn't happy about needing to drink, but then again it does work, so..? Then, when you combine the text with the music and staging, there's clearly additional subtext about masculinity and the ridiculousness of needing to look like a tough manly man, (but without being mean about it). That's something I really love about the song. Oh and the part where the song switches from harsh metal/EDM to campy pop music is also the point in the lyrics when the main character finally let's loose and "isn't afraid of the world anymore", and in the music video there's also a costume change to a campy white outfit with kind of a girly white wig. Then when you combine that genre switch with the subtext about masculinity and toughness and suddenly that's a whole commentary on the relationship of music and gender right there. I think it's a great example of what pop music can be at it's best; on one level it's a simple fun story about having fun, catchy and silly, but the attention to detail and nuance gives this just enough depth that it becomes interesting to think about and analyze, and very far from superfluous. You could easily write a whole paper on all the things going on here, but you can also influence a lot people with stuff like this because at its core it still IS an easy to understand, simple, relatable story about letting go of stress and anxiety. If you understand Finnish that is. If you don't, it's still an absolute blast because it just bangs so hard ❤
IMO, everything you said makes it actually profound :) quite thought provoking - certainly made me think about my own choices. And fun on top of that. Excellent job for Finland, and you have my Serbian vote in the semi, there's no doubt about it :)
@@igortirkajla8042 Well, it's not like there's an objective definition of what is "profound" 😄 Serbia has a great song this year too btw, probably going to get a vote from me.

Finns (and especially Finnish men) are quiet and reserved but hard working. The pallets indicate working with wood, so a carpenter maybe. He says at the start it has been a long hard week but now all he wants is to hit the bar and go dancing. But he needs to come out of his icy shell. Cha Cha Cha here is symbolic. His 💚 costume is also symbolic. It is the pupa in which he is "in hiding". The whole song is about him transitioning to the dance stage after lubricating his mental lock with beers and Pina Colada. The repetitive monotony of work is reflected in the electro beat and tough lyrics. But he does finally hit the dance stage and the music style is now Finnish pop. Eventually he is pouring champagne over himself. The caterpillar or centipede is another transition. At the end we see him sawing. If the week was exhausting the weekend was even more exhausting. He collapses at the end!
I have a fun story about this song. Yle our national broadcaster releases the songs at midnigth at local time so I went to bed at 9 pm and had an alarm go of at 11.55pm. When they released this song I laught the hole way trough the song and I listed to it for an hour. Then the reactions started coming. After couple of hours I went back to bed to sleep. All my brain was going was cha cha cha. I was so tired at work the next day and all I could think of was hope he wins the national selection because other wise I did this for nothing 🤣. Love your reactions! Its so refreshing that you tell what you think and you all have good insite on ESC and what it is all about.
First of all, this was not initially my favourite song. I am very into metal, EDM, synth sounds etc. but what kind of put me off was the lyrics. I interpreted the song as an anthem of drinking alcohol in the beginning and I thought it is the message that will ruin it's path. So I did not consider even the winner of Finnish UMK. When I saw the song live on stage, everything just found the right place. It is not about drinking, but it is about dancing, and letting yourself be free from worries and everyday stress for a little moment. When I first would have interpreted that in the end the "storyteller, me" will pass out of drinking, he actually passes out of dancing. The lyrics (the story) itself is split into two halves. So is the song as well: you see the mood change from the beginning to the end, as the story changes. So actually I think, while the song has been written, these guys have actually already thought about what it is gonna look like on stage. From a stiff, stressed, worrysome guy to the one, that has sipped a few pina coladas and has enough courage to hit the dance floor, where he has wanted to go, and not worry about how his dancing looks like, how he looks like with his weird costume, and eventually he owns the stage and even the professional dancers start dancing the same weird dance style. But story goes: he has a rough week at work. Now he only thinks about loosening up by drinking a few and then hitting the dancefloor. However, she is not self-confident enough to just to hit the floor, so he sips a few more, and slowly he starts to feel, soon it is the time ("niinku cha cha cha, mä oon jo tulossa...", I'm coming). And when he has had enough, the stage opens (pallets, that are in Finnish called "eurolava", and again that translated to English: "Euro stage") for the dancing part. And the weirdness can begin or continue. I do not think it is a song that would stand out on my taste. I am a fan of even rougher sound. So I was hoping that the beginning, the stiff sound would have somehow altered to even more aggressive, but in the end, the song is a good mood song, something to dance with, and not something you can just bang your head against the wall with. But after I have understood how cleverly it is structured and how the performance have been thought through, I applaud to that performance. The live performance is better than the video, and the video ain't that bad either in the end. As I am a Finn, I will not say a word whether it can win. I have a tendency to be a little bit pessimistic about Finnish chances in Eurovision. And even when Lordi won, I was not a big fan of the song, and the win was more a shock to me, than a reason to celebrate. There is a saying: "The hell will freeze over before Finland wins the Eurovision." We have already won once, but I am kind of still thinking, it needs a miracle of some sort to be at the top. I did like Blind Channel a few years back. The Rasmus was a mistake, but right now, I think Käärijä was actually in the tough UMK competion eventually the only ESC worthy choice.
As a Finn I've been accustomed to our performers getting zero points (or very few) and I've actually been looking forward each year for that embarrassment, but I don't think that'll happen this time. It'll be very strange, but I'm sure we'll get back at sucking next year onwards.
@@ZakhadWOW Blind Channel was great but The Rasmus was totally forgettable for me, which is especially disappointing because I really love some of their old songs. They didn't do great in the competition either when you look at the scores.
You are right, this is art, and the lyrics and even the stage setup has clever hidden meanings as has been explained in the comments. The best part in my opinion is that even Finnish speakers have different interpretations of the meaning of the lyrics, it can be just a party song, but it can also have a deeper meaning. I really love that this song is representing Finland this year, and I really love the artist, who was until eurovision also quite unknown even in Finland. They have this way of being silly and stupid while at the same time he is genius. ❤️❤️❤️
Amo l'Italia! Studio la lingua italiana da luglio 2022, voglio sapere il testo di "Zitti e buoni" senza aiuto, senza testi, ma non sono ancora bene per fare cosi. Ma un giorno, sono certo! Btw, in Finnish, Italy is "Italia", as it should be!
"Suomi" is so old word even us finns are not sure where it comes from, there are many theories though. But it's been and always will be Suomi always for us 😁
There's been at least two languages in area of modern Finland after the ice age and before Finnish, they are both lost in time, but echoes of them are still present in names of many places around here. Suomi might be one of them.
Tongue thing in metal is done on purpose. It's supposed to make some people feel disturbed and little uncomfortable. It's such a norm these days in metal that I didn't even pay attention to it. lol
Finally! I was thinking that out of four of you, Maia is probably the one who doesn’t buy this, but I was wrong, she was so hyped! As you for sure by now know, there is a boxing ring in the music video, so good thinking. Whole Finland is so into this song, can’t wait Liverpool! P.S. Perfect pronounciation of Käärijä, Bekah P.P.S. It is Finlandia in Spanish for example. And there is Finlandia vodka which is quite famous.
They call him Mr. Cha Cha Cha and he's rocking the stage! I love the colors, the sounds, all the surprises. A unique entry and in my top 3. Perfect 3 min song to brush your teeth to!
It's about social anxiety (self controlled people in modern work life). Having few Pina coladas to get over it and go dancing (the last part of the song) :)
It's not a string of random words. He, of course sings, in Finnish. The lyrics are about a guy having fun after a hard week. He has a few drinks and turns into a party animal. This is a fun party song. Käärijä is a funny and nice guy. The song doesn't represent a particular known genre but a mixture of them.
The message. He is this cool persona, he has a typical Finnish social tuogh guy attitude that prohibits him from letting loose and just having fun, so he have to drink to be able to let go and just have fun and enjoy him self and dance his heart out, so the second part of the song he is drunk enough to dance and get out of his tough guy attitude.
It took me a minute but I decided that I like it now. In my top 10. Very entertaining, will qualify with ease and do very well in the final unless the juries bury it - but I don’t think they will. Love the manic dancers - he HAS to bring them. Will it win? It’s certainly possible but I think it’s too early to call. Should be top 5 though.
the meaning is about finnish people being introverts and after an hard week they can enjoy some drinks and breaking the ice shell on him and the was doing that funny dancing was when the ice was broken
If the song manages to provoke a discussion as to the ironies and bluffs inherent in the creation of 'art' then I guess that bestows at least a smidgen of validity upon it.
Another tip regarding the message... The "red dancers" represent alcohol, and the long ties between the singer and the dancers show how a few drinks make this man overcome his shynes, and step on the dancefloor. To have fun! There's other meta, easter eggs etc. 😊
Interesting - my interpretation has been that the dancers are his emotions, also fears. He tries to keep them under control, they pull him in different directions. Until he lets go of them and relaxes, at last, after a few Pina Coladas.
Been binge watching Käärijä reactions on youtube lately and this one was very fun to watch! You have a great channel, much love from Finland! Also, Maia is awesome
Cha Cha Cha won the audience vote by a milestone, while the judges votes awarded the prize finally to its antithesis - another emotive, beautiful, powerful song loaded with symbolism and modern dance that is Loreen's winner. By contrast Cha Cha Cha takes the absolute piss out of the message and the symbolism that so dominates pop these days -it's so camp it takes the piss out of camp. THIS IS ART
Based on the lyrics, the dude's had a hard week at work, so he wants to get wasted and have fun on the dance floor like Cha Cha Cha. The dancers are the drinks he pours down his throat with both hands.
This could win depends how the jury votes…. It’s very catchy will be very well received in Liverpool but it is only the second half of the song that’s actually catchy. It’s defo one of my top 3 and Sweden isn’t in my top three 😀
I lolled at "it probably has a profound intelligent meaning" 😆 But actually - the lyrics are kinda jokey, he's basically singing about drinking himself senseless - BUT the message IS meaningful. It's about the debilitating shyness of (Finnish) men, how they dare to DANCE only when drunk. The message is encouraging to let go and have fun. It's a sarcastic take, but I feel the point is we should be able to dance and relax without drinking ourselves senseless. Although, I have no doubt 95% of atleast Finns miss the sarcasm and just drink themselves senseless to the song and then bounce around the dance floor. How I would describe the song is that it is a humorous song, but not a joke song. And it has actual artistic value too, I think, I mean it's a good song even if you understand nothing of the words.
Yes, there are at least 230 million people who call it "Finlandia" (spelled "Finlândia"), since that's how the name of the country is pronounced in Portuguese!
So the song is about a man that goes to bar to have some fun after rough week at work. It also criticize toxic masculinity, as drinking is main way for men in Finland to relax and be "themselves"
i think this tekkno sound is very influended by the German band Electric Callboy song - We got the moves... that band was in the run for the German Preselection 2021... 💚💙💜❤ what i love the most - they sing in Finnish - what a beautiful language -- well done Finnland this will a Top 10 song
Those pallets are called Eurolava in Finland, but lava also means a stage, so Käärijä is performing on Euro(vision) stage. It is word play that Finns understand. 😅 Also the pallets form the boxing ring used in the music video.

/r/Eurovision recently concluded the first top 37 rankings, and this song came in first by a MILE. And I totally get why. It's in my top 5 too and I would not be surprised to see it competing for the win in May.
Yeah it would be a shock of this isn't one of the top songs for the year.
The winner will either be Sweden or Finnland this year. No other country comes close to those two. Sweden will win the jury voting with Finnland winning the televote.
@@DePaii7 Well, that seems very likely at this point, but we'll see when the dust settles. There's always some surprises.
I see what will be the challenge is this: it is a better/more clever song than Tattoo, but Loreen's voice power and emotive performance will be the giant hurdel to overcome. It is amazing that those two will be duking it out... will a 3rd song managed to squeak in between them as they are bloodying each other?
This song will bring the audience together in Liverpool! Its gonna be SO loud in the arena! CHA CHA CHA! It's crazy, it's party! 💚
Finland song make me happy, and its funny! I hope they will win this year
In the beginning it was my 2 place but I feel it becomes 1st💙🤍
I guess I've never before pushed "play" button so quickly as now 😂.
🇫🇮 Käärijä is cha cha champion! 🤩 This will do well! Everyone in Liverpool arena will sing Cha Cha Cha! ❤ Join the party! 🥳
Käärijä for president! Cha Cha Cha😝! (Parliamentary elections will be held in Finland on 2 April 2023)
I love this so much!! It's just ridiculous and fun... exactly what I want in Eurovision.
”Okay that was incredible” haha loved your reactions. Käärijä FTW in Liverpool 🎉😊.
It is not much deep song but it is far from joke song. being socialy awkvard is serous problem for those ppl and he is singing about that. I find video much better to understand what is song about, but this live is epic and much much better for ESC. Pure energy
I have never seen Maia smile continuously for 3 minutes during a song….so this HAS to win in Liverpool 😅🎉🎉🎉❤
💚12Points from me!💚
This song better win! 🇫🇮💚
I was waiting your (all four included) reaction so long and I love it!
This is a rare case where I get the hype, it's in my top 5 this year. Really fun to listen to.
I honestly wouldn’t mind Finland winning this year! I love this song so much! 😁🖤
He looks in the costume like Hulk for me , angry Hulk at the beginning who loosens up at the end
I will vote many times for this song because I want that Käärij wins, I want that he is happy because he makes me with this song happy
Do note he had adaptation of Rammstein logo tattooed on his chest!
It's very visible with this outfit.
I love that he fully committed to that pun, and then made it totally work.
Vamos, una poesía de canción y una melodía y dulzura de voz que echa para atrás! Jajajajjajajaja.
It's still a bad song sorry lol
@@omaewamoushindeiru6581 Cha Cha Cha 💃💃💃💃💃💃
@@omaewamoushindeiru6581 bad! Pero bad, bad, bad, bad!!!
The winner 12 points from Sweden 🎉
Likely yes, but I hope this wins
I see the song as a moment in every person who wants to have fun, something that is not suitable for a normal person, something that is out of the box, and who wants to provoke society a little, but then goes back to normal behavior, that's when the song calms down . Cha cha cha is, in my opinion, just a sung word choice which works very well and can be sung by anyone, regardless of language background..
I loved it, best thing ever...and now you are baffled that it came second place, and actually won the crowd!
@@igortirkajla8042 Well, it's not like there's an objective definition of what is "profound" 😄
Serbia has a great song this year too btw, probably going to get a vote from me.
BTW Kaarija's own take on the song with his limited English? "It's crazy! It's party!"
I am so ready for all of his interviews!! 😂 Reddit has been tempting me for weeks now
@@MyrtleP it will be quite chaos 😅 I've seen some videos where he was speaking in Finnish, English and Swedish all together 😂 but he is so lovely so I'm sure people will love him anyway 👍🏻
@@helky8 Noa references it in her song, but Kaarija (Jere Poyhonen) is the TRUE *unicorn* at Eurovision
WINNER!!!!!!!
If Finland don´t win a least it´s getting the funniest reactions 😂
Top 3 for sure. Maybe the winner. 👌
The hairline comes from that he was bullied in the school toilet, where the bigger boys cut his hair like this. He has kept this hairstyle since.
The energy, the staging and the visuals are amazing .
12 points from Poland for this
As a Finn I've been accustomed to our performers getting zero points (or very few) and I've actually been looking forward each year for that embarrassment, but I don't think that'll happen this time. It'll be very strange, but I'm sure we'll get back at sucking next year onwards.
umm say what now? Neither Blind Channel nor The Rasmus performed badly #Huh ??
@@ZakhadWOW Blind Channel was great but The Rasmus was totally forgettable for me, which is especially disappointing because I really love some of their old songs. They didn't do great in the competition either when you look at the scores.
Hahah there's the true Finnish spirit 😂😂😂 Although ngl I'm the same onneks tänä vuon on edustaja, josta olla ylpee ❤
I love how analytical you are in your reactions. As if you all studied aesthetics!
in Italy the name for Finland is FINLANDIA! little fun fact in finnish it's called Suomi, totally different hahahaha
Yes, the customers iin New Zealand asked me what Suomi stands for on my passport 😅
In lithuanian the name for Finland is Suomija.
Suomi might be one of them.
loved that a ton. top notch sonic material. have I been living under a rock all these years? 🔥🔥🔥
Im voting for Finland this year 💃💚 it's crazy, it's party
Tongue thing in metal is done on purpose. It's supposed to make some people feel disturbed and little uncomfortable.
It's such a norm these days in metal that I didn't even pay attention to it. lol
Finally! I was thinking that out of four of you, Maia is probably the one who doesn’t buy this, but I was wrong, she was so hyped! As you for sure by now know, there is a boxing ring in the music video, so good thinking. Whole Finland is so into this song, can’t wait Liverpool!
P.S. Perfect pronounciation of Käärijä, Bekah
P.P.S. It is Finlandia in Spanish for example. And there is Finlandia vodka which is quite famous.
FUN FACT: all those -ia country suffixes proceed from a Greek root!
They call him Mr. Cha Cha Cha and he's rocking the stage! I love the colors, the sounds, all the surprises. A unique entry and in my top 3.
Perfect 3 min song to brush your teeth to!
Teeth brushing playlist! This is something I could get behind.
Cant wait for ESC finals
It's about social anxiety (self controlled people in modern work life). Having few Pina coladas to get over it and go dancing (the last part of the song) :)
It's not a string of random words. He, of course sings, in Finnish. The lyrics are about a guy having fun after a hard week. He has a few drinks and turns into a party animal. This is a fun party song. Käärijä is a funny and nice guy. The song doesn't represent a particular known genre but a mixture of them.
Carlena, in Portugal we say Finlândia 😊 you’re totally right!
Uploaded on a Friday, of course!
Finlandia is how we say it Portugal but also the name of the vodka 😂
It’s art, it’s crazy, it’s party and hopefully this years winner! 🎉❤
You guys are so fun to listen to! Happy i fond your channel😊 Chachacha is my 2nd place!, And i didn't like it at all the first time i heard it🙈🙈
Welcome! Glad you found our little corner of the internet
I think this wins the televote in the final, love it myself would be great to see this win but I think top 5 is more likely.
12 Pina Coladas to Finland from Hungary.
@@lokkikissa Cool interpretation as well!
Maia's facial expression and grin says it all. The song just grabs you and gets you moving. I love the song!
It was one of my favorites!
It's going to win and Liverpool is gonna dance and rock out so hard to it
Been binge watching Käärijä reactions on youtube lately and this one was very fun to watch! You have a great channel, much love from Finland! Also, Maia is awesome
Finlandia is its name in Spanish
Very cool video. Love it.
Winner!!!
THIS IS ART
The woman 2nd from the left, pronounced his artist name perfectly 🙏
Televote winner for sure.
Cha cha cha💚💚💚
Based on the lyrics, the dude's had a hard week at work, so he wants to get wasted and have fun on the dance floor like Cha Cha Cha. The dancers are the drinks he pours down his throat with both hands.
In my Top3 from Spain ❤️
This could win depends how the jury votes…. It’s very catchy will be very well received in Liverpool but it is only the second half of the song that’s actually catchy. It’s defo one of my top 3 and Sweden isn’t in my top three 😀
Tyler after 1 second: ”LOVE IT” is such a mood 😂❤
Vote for Finland. More than 1000km km with Russia. Lets have fan.
My grandmother called those sleeves "soul warmers"
I lolled at "it probably has a profound intelligent meaning" 😆
But actually - the lyrics are kinda jokey, he's basically singing about drinking himself senseless - BUT the message IS meaningful.
🥇FINLAND🇫🇮🍹it’s crazy. its party.
In portuguese Finland is called Finlândia 😅
The lady with blue hair understood it. :)
MY ABSOLUTE FAV SONG
❤👍❤️🤗❤️🏆❤️🙏❤️ 🇫🇮 This was THE REAL WINNER! 👍
Shy guy double-fists pina coladas until he gets drunk enough to dance like a loon in public. It ain't deep but it's a lot of fun!
Can you imagine Germany had Electric Callboy wanting to go with that sound and not picking them? Now they are playing big shows
10:19 oh wait until Austria
"Yeah yeah you figure out what these lyrics mean"
I'm not a big fan of ESC but this year this was the only fun song in the finals.
It's just nuts that this at TATTOO (Loreen) are in the same semifinal.. as it is 100% televote it will be a bloodbath.
i think this tekkno sound is very influended by the German band Electric Callboy song - We got the moves... that band was in the run for the German Preselection 2021... 💚💙💜❤ what i love the most - they sing in Finnish - what a beautiful language -- well done Finnland this will a Top 10 song
I thought Sweden had this. Then I saw this... Loreen has to make an attack with the fingertips.
I think the dancers interpreted the "heavy metal cha cha cha" excellently. Very aggressive and crazy, almost psychotic.
A song of two halves ;)
