    Hi! I have a question. Which is the paper of the histidine at the 64th position in this process? My teacher talked about this particular aminoacid but you don't mention it so I don't understand the paper of it in the process. Thank you!!!

      Since you wrote this a month ago, you probably found out the answer... but for anyone else who needs it:
      His-64 is involved in the proton shuttle, which helps regenerate the active form of the enzyme. A nitrogen in His-64 accepts a proton from the H2O molecule that has bound to the Zinc. The zinc is now bound to an OH- (this is the active form of carbonic anhydrase). The OH- goes on to attack the CO2 in a nucleophilic attack, which is what is explained in this video. The protonated His-64 donates its proton to the buffer (bicarbonate), which concludes the proton shuttle.

    How come oxygen has 3 bond in the start (one with zinc and two with H) and he dont carry a net charge?

    • @yashitverma8334
      @yashitverma8334 3 года назад

      H2O is acting like a ligand instead of forming a Covalent Bond, no need to show any charge
