I bought the Sprocket first. What I like about it: travels well, doesn’t have to be plugged in to use, prints fast, fun app that can print collages and sticker backed paper. What is disappointing is: the colours can be dreadfully off-many have a very blue tone and I can’t print a 2x2 photo which is needed if you buy Stop The Blur kits from Heidi Swapp. I’ll be buying the Canon Selphy.
This video is so helpful!!! Thank you for sharing this comparison!! I thought the canon Selphy looked too complicated, but the way you explained how to use it helped so much!
I just purchased a Canon Selphy I thought it was going to be too technical I wanted something easy for my Mom, but I am glad I did because I can clearly see the big difference the quality is amazing and I just have to throw my two cents in here, but there are waaaaaaaaaay too many people that need to get off their soap box giving feedback is one thing, but being rude is just being rude 🙄 There is a reason they came to your video and thank you for doing a comparison because I was truly debating on getting my mom a HP Sprocket because of the design but I am glad I didn't. Nice video, but to be frank I don't normally put comments but felt need as as it seems when people (Your viewers/audience) give you feedback you seem to criticise them that they are picky or saying they can be compared because of your audience. You should be providing them with more informative buying choices, I own both and purchased a Sprocket before I saw your video but still wouldn't change my mind as they are for different purposes and quality. As some mentioned you're comparing APPLES vs ORANGES here, the Selphy is a dye-sub which produces professional quality where as the Sprocket produces ZERO INK (Z-INK) photos that provide par quality. So you should even update your comments or redo the video about the printers and their purposes. I use the Sprocket more daily journals or where I don't need HQ photos and use the Selphy when it's a photo that I want to ensure I retain blah blah. But just advice is that you shouldnt be defensive and be accepting to the criticism as it will give more info to your viewers. Don't assume....

this was the exact video i was looking for as im asking for the selphy for Christmas and was wondering if the sprocket was worth it...NOT. 😂 Thank you for confirmation! I can wait to use the Selphy for my journaling!
You should say, you can't use just any 4x6 photo paper with Cannon, it has special paper that has performated tabs at the top and bottom that you remove, just saying. But I also prefer the cannon
Hello. I am curious. How do you connect the printer to the iPhone like this: 7:24 mark?? I am struggling to get my printer connect to my WiFi. I have two WiFi at home. I use the usual Wifi but it’s not work. I had to use the second WiFi. Therefore, the second WiFi is not work during the daytime. So, I could not able to connect the printer. How do you get it fix?
Make sure both your printer and phone are on the same wifi. For us, we have one router but it offers 2 different speeds so I have to make sure it's all on the same one.
Awesome and neat presentation. Thank you. The quality outweighs everything. Looking forward to one soon; depending on the Availability with Canon Australia.
I had recently purchased my HP Sprocket 200 the same one as yours the black noir color and now I am currently experiencing problems with the print quality just after three uses. I noticed after printing out some photos have red spots or blotches on them. I am worried this will be an ongoing problem whenever I print something from my HP Sprocket and I don’t know what’s causing that problem and I need help. 😥
the blue paper on the HP is not the ink. that is for calibrating the picture quality. i do like both of them, it really depends on how u want ur picture to be, Canon for quality photo and it will last a long time, waterproof, smudgeproof paper, but it needs power or plugging in while using it. on the otherhand, the HP is for on the go that doesnt need to plug it in when printing.. so it reallt depends on how, what u will use it. NICE review though, i finished ir vid. very well said.
I am aware of this and clearly this video wasn't targeted towards you if you already understand allll the things about it. It was targeted to my audience who do not need to know all of that information.
Your comparing 2 different ways of printing. The sprocket is zink paper. That means that it uses heat on the photopaper to bring out the picture. Different heat brings a different colour up but it does not focus on a coulour a time like the selphy does. The ink is in the photopaper and not on the calibration sheet (blue paper). The selphy is concentrating en focusing on all different layers and colours because it uses one colour a time (first yellow, then red, last blue)
Either way, the quality vs price isn't worth it to me. Most people, like me, are not sure how it works...we're focusing on the quality and I understand that how it works plays a role in that but when they're both that close in price, the Selphy blows it out of the water. Thanks for letting me know how it works though! I didn't understand that blue sheet (I even said that in the video lol)
Hi, I am interested in getting another portable printer. I had a HP compact ink jet printer a few years back. I can’t recall what happened to it but I think it was defective. It’s a good thing I came across your review and was thinking of getting the Sprocket. I want something like the Selphy and checking their website to see their current models. Do you still have the Selphy? If so, how’s the long term usage?
Canon selphy CP1300 is a dye-sub color printer, both HP sprocket (Studio, select and 2nd Edition) series are Zink Technology mini color printers, can't compared to Canon Selphy CP1300. Only Canon Ivy color sticker printer is using Zink Teleology.
Selphy seems better in many ways. If they made sticker backed photo paper then it would 100% blow sprocket out the water. The sprockets downside is just as you mentioned. I have managed to play around with it to get the color quality better but it's a constant guesswork process and it's ANNOYING to have to even do that. Can you customize a photo collage?
Ohh if it had the sticky back paper, that would be amazing! You can customize a photo collage- I didn't play around with that option in the video but in the Selphy app, there's the "shuffle layout" option and the "combination layout" option. You could also download a collage maker app, resize it to fit the paper in the Selphy and then print it from your photos. :)
I seen that one on Amazon but I honestly never looked at it lol For me, I would be okay with taking the Selphy on the go but if someone traveled a lot, I could understand wanting something more portable. Thanks for sharing! :)
The Canon does have a 2x3 sticky back photo paper for the Canon Selphy CP 1300. The Canon website have photo paper and the tray as well as Amaxon, see link below from Amazon. Canon website have it for $14.99. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008PJWPWY?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
@@AshleyAnderson There is sticker paper for the CP1300. You need to buy the PCC-CP400 paper cassette, and then you can use KC-18IF (credit card sized labels 86mm x 54mm), KC-18IS (square labels 54mm x 54mm) and KC-18IL (mini labels - 8 per sheet, each label is 22mm x 17.3mm) ink and paper packs.

Interesting how you compared apple to oranges. One is smaller, portable and simple to use and it was designed for convenience. The bigger one was made for better picture quality. Not a fair comparison.

Is the paper 4x6 once you snap the edges off or does it lose a little bit of it's dimensions? I'd like to know as I want to buy this for my printing business for my 4x6 movie prints.
I just received the HP Sprocket Studio which prints great 4x6 prints. It also has perforated sides. After removing the perforations, the size of the remaining photo is a full 4x6. I love it so far!
@@nikkihoffman2891 I purchased the Canon Selphy CP1300 not long after making my original comment and I can confirm that after snapping the edges off, it is not an exact 4x6.
hi thanks for the video!! how many 4x6 sheets are you typically able to print with the 108 ink/paper for the canon selphy? I have heard that there's usually not nearly enough ink to print 100 pages as advertised, but I'm not sure.
This is not comparable, to be honest. The photo sizes are different. The purpose is different. The method of printing is different. Sprocket is a quick, portable, small photo printer for family gatherings, friend selfies, etc. The Canon is really a desktop printer, that is nowhere to be carried. It's bulkuly, fat, and prints standard size photos. This is really an unfair and I feel like a bit biased comparison. Thanks for the insights tho.
