Probably DC’s most underrated and underutilized character ever. Can’t believe the last time we’ve even seen Icon in any DC media were his brief cameo appearances in Young Justice
That’s because icon is a milestone character not DC. Just like static shock.
Icons underated, his origin is soso but thought it was funny when Superman thought icon may have been another Kryptonian.
Not only is ICON one of my personal favorite black heroes but he definitely deserves a movie or a TV show🗣️🗣️🗣️
Long as the TV show has an extremely high budget I'm down. If not then the movies definitely the best option!
Not to mention Icon is so powerful even Superman has joined forces with him and Superman once asked Icon to train him

Icon is a very interesting character IMO. In terms of his raw power, he is arguably on par with Superman especially when it comes to raw physical strength.

Icon has\had the best cape of any hero anywhere. In Milestones first crossover when he first met Superman, they of course had a fight.
It was a big battle and Icon of course used his cape to fool Superman. He took it off and threw it across the sky. When Superman got tangled up in it,BANG.
I hated when Milestone closed up and was merged with DC. We don’t get enough of him these days.

There's so many characters that are up there with the powerhouses but since they lack appearances people just assume they're weak just because they don't show as much stuff. When that's clearly not the case. There's writer intent for them to be up there with the powerhouses regardless of them lacking showings.

We need our own superhero spaces instead of constantly waiting for DC &Marvel to cater to us or give us some scraps
It shouldve been OBVIOUS from day one that Icon is THE superman of his world &as such is the premier power the king daddy up there with the kal els the sentrys (speaking of which we bout to have an Asian superman before we get a black one) the omniman or homelander etc..
As brilliant as McDuffie was (RIP/PBUH) the fact Icon didn't headline milestone &was named Icon &was given a backstory stripping him of all agency or the fact that some baseline cop could hurt him in his first issue was a lowkey sign of a collective inferiority complex we still have strong traces of even today in 2023 &NEED to get rid of. Expeditiously..
Icon needs to be up there with superman or Black Panther in black fandom.. that's what I want for him going forward.. but for that Milestone NEED to get away from DC.. or they'll continue to be second fiddle
So keep doing what youre doing keep pushing it out there keep honing your content the more of us learn about these heroes the closer we get to the dream of milestone one day being in the position marvel studios was circa 2008

Just subbed. Liked your description of Icon and his power levels compared to Superman. For me, the defining issue was Icon #16 - where these two fought to a draw. You described it in your video.
I'd even go as far as saying that these two have an MCU Thor / Hulk relationship as far as power levels - where Hulk is the STRONGEST Avenger but Thor is the most powerful. Toss in Icon's use of his Positron Energy and this evens things up a bit for Icon and Superman. I also know that Icon would have his hands full with Supe's Heat Vision AND Freeze Breath.
Superman's writers rarely have him go "All out" with his powers. If these two ever fought on the Big Screen they'd probably wreck the city they were in.
During a Young Justice episode when the league was voting in new members, Green Arrow claimed that the only reason Superman wanted Icon in the league was because he thought he was Kryptonian.

Love icon! The costume not so much. It's too busy. It needs to be simplified some. Keep the colors, but the belts, straps gotta go. Keep it clean, and simple. Red top, black bottom all the way to the feet, and green cape. Just simple look.

New rebooted Icon is seemingly his universe's "Superman". They even gave him Heat Vision this time around, along with other abilities like minimal telekinesis on top of his OG powerset. I like that they went this route with the character. No offense to the Maestro, Dwayne McDuffie, but Supes doesn't have to be stronger than Icon. Icon can easily be his equal or superior.

They respect the origins of the original, but expand upon it. For example, they show him trying to stop slavery but quickly realize the inevitability of it. Dwayne hinted at it in the OG series, but never went in-depth with that storyline.
Don't get me wrong. The core origin is still intact, just slightly modified. He's no longer a human/Terminan mutate, but instead a shape shifting alien with similar powers to Kryptonians on top of the original continuity's powers/abilities. He still meets Rocket the same way, he still has his skepticism about revealing his powers to the world, etc.

How strong is midnighter dc
It’s a misconception about main DC universe and Dakota verse merging during the Rift Between Worlds (worlds collide) story line. They do merge but only temporarily, they get split back apart at the end of the event. That is one of my favorite stories.

That was actually in the "Justice League and Shadow Cabinet" crossover event. Icon had joined the Shadow Cabinet's team temporarily as they invaded the Watchtower to steal an important artifact. Icon "struck" Superman to stage a "fight" between he and Superman but the resulting blow not only knocked Superman out of the watchtower into outer space but it ALSO lead Superman to state "It was the hardest he'd EVER been hit."
This would include Darkseid, Doomsday, etc, etc, etc.......

He seems to be Juggernaut range of strength. His striking/blast power even higher. Not that much of a Gap of Superman's level of strength.

He would get clapped if Superman is trying but you can not doubt his power.
Supes "did" try, though - in Icon #16. His plan was to knock Icon out and win their fight and then help BOTH his universe and Icon's "Dakotaverse". The being known as "Rift" basically refereed the fight.
This comic, Icon #16, was listed in Ivan's video above. This comic was ALSO a part of the epic crossover event for Milestone's (DC) universe (Dakotaverse) to eventually merge into Superman's universe and continuum.
This crossover event spanned Steel's comics, Superboy's, Static's, Hardwares, Blood Syndicate's, and a few other comic books as both universes merged. The total comic count was around 15 if I recall.
This helps to explain how Icon, Rocket and even Hardware existed in Young Justice.
@@MrLJ1819 Yeah but rebirth Superman is just a bit too much with the crazy feats he has displayed, High outerversal to even boundless. He has consistently had better feats than Icon and people forget Superman always holds back to an insane degree. Most heros do but Superman is kinda on a different level and is mainly portrayed that way more than most other heros. It's been confirmed even sub consciously he hold back and it physically affects him.

If you are fortunate enough to read the entire comic (GREAT READ, btw) you'll notice something very important. Icon is matching Superman blow for blow until the very end. You'll notice - at the VERY END of their fight right before Rift breaks them up - that Icon's fist is imbued with his Positron power. He's already used his Positron blast once during their fight and it knocks Superman out temporarily. But this glowing fist of Icon's does NOT make contact with Superman because Rift stops the fight before Icon lands this potentially crucial blow.
Rift then goes onto explain - "Neither of you will ever yield to the other, so I'm stopping this fight."
I truly wonder what would've happened if Icon landed that Positron-infused BLOW on Superman. He'd only used his Positron BLASTS on Supes until now........
I've seen some write ups on Icon's use of his Positron energy blasts and I've read that it's compared to ION ENERGY - the same wavelength that Lanterns use.
In his comics, he rarely uses it. But when he DID use it, it stopped whatever he used it on.

As far as Superman? Oh I've personally read on many of his feats. He's been written VERY WELL over the course of his comic life, in regards to feats. I personally wonder if he's ever been written using BOTH his heat vision AND his frost breath simultaneously.
I also recall a comic where Supes and Hal Jordan teamed up to actually MOVE Earth out of harm's way - with GL constructing a planet-sized pulley device and Big Blue using that device to move Earth out of harm's way.
Pretty incredible stuff.
This just goes to show you - these characters, Icon and Superman - are equal. That's the point of Icon #16 and I think that for the writers it was important on a Social level to make them equal, which I believe is right.
Icon - in the hands of the same writers as Superman - would be as good as Superman. It's ALL ABOUT the writers. If a writer CARES enough then good things happen.

Idk how this guy is rated for durability but YES some people don’t get that durability HAS to scale with strength otherwise you’d be breaking yourself when attacking.
Icon is far more durable than you think, he's just not as extremely durable to borderline invulnerable as Superman is, Icon is nigh-invulnerable. He's tank hits from a serious, battle ready Superman and endured his intense heat vision attacks as well, so yeah.

Icon's durability is based on how aware he is and if he is flexing to withstand it. kinda like Goku being hit by Krillens rock throw or being shot by a lazer is Resurrection F

In the comics Icon actually admits to Superman being "Physically Stronger" than he. But - as we saw in Marvel with Hulk and Stormbreaker Thor - physical strength doesn't always make one more "Powerful" than the other.
What matches Icon with Superman is Icon's Positron Energy manipulation. In Icon #16 he uses it to literally knock Superman out momentarily.

IvaN The UnStoppable do you believe that it is fair for small channels like yours to get stepped over for worthless celebrity channels like the failure of RUclips channel like Brie Larson's channel a channel that had the backing of Hollywood , the media , RUclips itself and the platform as well as being a channel that was monetized and verified before its first video was ever even posted be honest IvaN because man most small channels are struggling and had to actually put in work to get what they have right ?
It's definitely unfair but hey. Life is unfair it does suck seeing channels that don't do as much work succeeding by a hundred fold but hey I'll get there eventually!
And yes I agree if you're not a celebrity. Growing on RUclips is probably one of the toughest things which is part of the reason why I've expanded my platform to tik tok as well
