They are much tougher than nerf armour. I have seen a crocodile give up on trying to eat a tortoise, 'cause it's teeth and bite force hardly made a dent in the tortoise's shell. The tortoise walked away unharmed.

This made my day. I was so excited today. Sammy, our female cat who loves our tortoise, felt comfortable enough to play with Shelly today. Sammy is our ambush cat. Her favorite game is what we call “Trench Warfare”. She hides in one of her many tunnels and waits for one of the other pets to walk by. Then, she launches herself through the tunnel and attacks. She’s clearly playing when she does it. No claws. At most she’ll boop her “siblings” or mock boop and then run away before getting in position again. She does that with the dog and our male cat. And today she did it with the tortoise too. Shelly also made an attempt at the stairs today. He plopped head first down one step. Then, paced back and forth along the edge stopping to lean over, stretch his neck out and get a good look at the next step. He decided it was too high. Once was enough. Sammy spanked Shelly’s butt. “Of course it’s too high for you stupid! Now get back up here so I can pretend to stalk you!” It’s never dull in this house.

You know it's bad, when freaking cats - a specie, that's famous around the internet for making much larger animals run in fear, is scared of it.
I like how at 1:36 the tortoise seemed very close yet hesisant to bite the cats face.
I think it can't bite because the cat's nose is too big.
I think the two are friendly, it might’ve been playing at a love bite. If they didn’t like each other, the cat would’ve left and the turtle would’ve gone for the bite when it had multiple chances.

It's like those horror movies where the killer is incredibly slow but terrifyingly relentless.
When we see turtles we see this dumpy, fat, cute animal but in nature they are very territorial. That’s exactly what is happening here. They are being territorial with these cats.
Besides the fact that they are not turtles. They are tortoises..
And at least some of these are clearly biting the cats if they get a chance.

it's more the fact tortoises can be very territorial towards other animals and not just towards cats either, they may even be territorial towards dogs or even their own care takers

Seems like Turtle is the only animal which cats cannot scare away or just dominate over, unlike all the other animals no matter how big they are, they'd always run away from the cat, but not turtles.

This is not ok. The one clip where the cat is "playing" with the tortoise? Yeah, when cats play they're hunting. Those are real claws. Tortoises have extremely soft skin around their necks and upper joints. This isn't cute, it's dangerous. That tortoise could die.
Letting a tortoise bite a cat because it's "cute" or "trying to make friends" is not ok. That can seriously injure a cat's tail or toes. Not just hurt, injure.
