That 03 tour is when I saw them too. They threw a giant pig's head into the audience and it got stomped through the floor. After their set and before cannibal, they had to patch the hole. It was wild AF.

in the mid 00s black metal bands seemed to go out of their way to try to get banned from concert venues, and almost always did. i think they had some sort of unspoken contest with other bands on how many US venues they could get banned from.
I saw that tour. They didn’t do that in Omaha. But it was funny. Watching the DF drummer looking stoned out of his mind. Effortlessly blasting on the Pissing Razors drum kit. With a big stoner smile on his face

So many bands only have that “raw” sound because of the tools that were available to them when they started making music. I love that sound too, but there’s plenty of space for all the various production styles. Variety is the spice of life. We also have to consider what the music calls for. In Dark Funeral’s case, I think the cleaner sound helps us to greater appreciate just how fast, precise, and consistent their performances really are. Go see them live, and if you’re still not impressed, then maybe YOU are the poser…HAIL DARK FUNERAL!!! 🤘👹

I've heard some demos by LA and it's remarkably close to the final studio version. He really has a complete vision for the band. It's the same with Jari from Wintersun, his demos are nearly as good as the full length.

Dark Funeral are the Slipknot of black metal because the first ep and the Secrets album had a darkness about them. When Blackmoon left DF no longer had that darkness.

Ya great question about them not confronting Islam or Judaism etc. He says he's against all religions, but DF is clearly designed to be anti-Christian first and foremost---and if he's against all religions, then why isn't Satanism included in that statement?
