There would be many, many more. Germany made a huge mistake invading the USSR the way they did. If the Nazis had allied themselves with Ukraine and secured the oil fields, they'd have had a better chance of defeating the USSR. A lot of Ukrainians actually supported them (anything is better than the NKVD), but the Germans' racist ideology evidently didn't include common sense.
Yelnya was first defeat, IMHO. Foreshadowed how the war was going to go.

Tell that to all the countries that were subjugated by the USSR after WWII ended. Tell that to all the women, both young and old who were gang raped by Soviet soldiers when they entered Germany. Tell that to the millions of civilians throughout Europe who had all their freedoms stolen from them when they had their countries occupied by the Red Army. The Nazis were despicable, but the Red Army committed more than their fair share of atrocities.
