Met packy on several occasions, honest to God, a finer gentleman you will not meet. One time I'd had a few refreshments and went over to speak to him, if I was packy I'd have told me where to go, but he took time and had my picture taken with him. A TRUE legend.
Packie is a legend...such a great guy, and servant to our club. The goalie of my youth, McStay, Aitken and Bonner team cemented my love for Celtic. A lesson in heart and humility for today's generation.
Thanks Paul and Pat . This was a superb interview. Paddy (I always called him that bcos my dad did) , Danny McG & Big Roy were my childhood heroes. Great memories. Limbs in the jungle will never be beaten 🍀💚🇮🇪
Hi from south Africa . I got pat Bonners goalie jersey from when he played in Danny mc grains testimonial game at celtic Park against Manu ..pat gave the jersey to Gary Bailey the Manu goalie that night ..after GARY Finished in football he came back to live in south africa and worked on sport TV..I got a shock phone call from GARY Telling me to met him at the sports TV studio's ..he then gave me the gift ..to find out that Peter latchford should have been playing not pat but latchford injured his finger in training and pat bonner got the game that night ..and then pat became a celtic legend hail hail
My hero growing up and playing in goal. I was absolutely obsessed with Packie back in the day. I'd love to meet him just to say thank you but they always say never meet your hero's!
Celtic need to increase capacity to 80000 (treble the main stand) and give these fantastic Irish fans a chance to come over and support their team! (think of the extra revenue).
Idolised big Packie as a wean growing up in the 80s & 90s. Still remember going doon tae the local newsagents for my Panini sticker book and cards. Swapping sticker cards wi yer pals tae see who filled their books first. 😄 Aw, the times before mobiles and internet were a true joy. 🍀
We did have a club in Ireland. Belfast Celtic. The greatest team in Ireland. Kicked off the pitched by a mob of Linfield supporters thugs who invaded the pitch and injured the players. They were forced to leave the Irish league due to naked sectarianism.
Excellent idea with buying a second team in Ireland. It looks like the Scots are too backward to introduce the pyramid system in the Scottish League structure like the rest of the world, which is unfortunate if not unsurprising. Having an unofficial Celtic-Desmond owned team with a stadium in a Dublin suburb playing in a high-level Irish League where 7/8 players age 18/19 from the B team could be loaned (or sign on frees with exclusivity buy-backs to dodge red-tape) so they could play at a higher level after playing in the lowland League for a year or 2 would be ideal for development into Celtic first-team standard players.

Grew up watching the big man. One of the unfortunately ever dwindling legends. HH

If you haven’t done it already read the big man’s book. A real eye opener on his early days at Celtic. HH

Prepare for massive, inexplicable overuse of the word 'almost' by Pat...Maddening.
