Thank you for these videos. I have learned so many useful tips which have helped me improve my skills. I especially enjoyed learning how to use petal dust to color Gumpaste. I have tried using it as a dry powder in the past with no luck. Looking forward to using this method and paying it forward by sharing with other sugar artists. Thank you!
They are beautiful they look so real, just starting Wilton Fondant and Gum Paste Course watching you now I am reallly looking forward to it thank you! Thank you for teaching and sharing your talent with us all!!! Liz...

Thank you Alan. You gave such a lot of information in this Tutorial. Thanking you Kindly from the North Shore Cake Decorating Club in Auckland New Zealand!
Hi chef Alan thank you for the beautiful tutorial this is my mother’s favourite flower so want to try them for her. Also can I ask where can I get those work boards from the green and white. Thank you in advance
I've never been enrolled in a baking class...watching your video really developed my interest in baking....as i'm beginning to collect the tools needed in baking some of which are wilton's, are there ready to use gumpastes in the market and what brand is best to use...Thank you so much!
Repairing the petal of a broken flowers can be difficult. If you want it to be edible use Tylose gum glue and lightly brush the broken ends, allow to dry until tacky, then piece together. The gum glue will leave a shiny spot so be careful not to overuse. The easiest fix for broken petals is Super Glue, applied sparingly and hold the petal until it bonds.
Thanks for this clear and great tutorial. How can we do to make fondant elastic when it's cracking and dry. Also wish to know if its necessary to use gum paste before doing flowers. Thanks
If your fondant it dry and cracking it may be old or you have left it out too long in the open. Keep all unused fondant in a plastic and work quickly when rolling and covering cakes. You may also need to try another brand of fondant that works better in your climate. Be sure to follow my FaceBook page as I am now doing FB Live events! facebook.com/globalsugarart/
mmmm wonderful. is defecult to find color dust in my place. so u still use oil base coloring. i must set my petal for more longer to make bit hard so i can work with my petal.
Hello Alan, thank you for the tutorial. I have made gerbera but the petals are so fragile they break very easy, you mentioned in another tutorial that if you were to mix 50/50 of gumpaste and fondant it would help in the prevention breakages, did I get that right or misheard it. and would it help any suggestions please. thank you.
It all depends on our use of the flower. It you wire then for use later in an arrangement, you need to use all gumpaste. If you are just placing them on a cake, a 50/50 mix works well. I find the best tip is to color the petals BEFORE they dry. I find most breakage occurs when dusting the fine petals.

I love all your videos and I too have learned so much from them. Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing your time and talents with us. May I asked what the green board you are working on is called and where I would be able to purchase one? Thank you.
THANK YOU!! FOR SHARING THIS TEQNIQUE!! IM A CAKE ARTIST AND I HAD SOME TROUBLES WITH FLOWERS.. NOW I WILL PRACTICE MORE . I HAVE TIO MAKE A WEDDING CAKE WITH STARGAZER LILY , WHAT IS THE RECIPIE OF GUMPASTE YOU USED? I USUALLY PUT SOME CMC TO FONDANT TO MAKE IT HARD AND PREVENT THE HUMIDITY CAUSE I LIVE ON BEACH. AND WE HAVE 4 MONTHS REALLY HUMID.
I usually use Satin Ice Gumpaste but you can also add Tylose or CMC to fondant to make a good gumpaste. Be aware that adding CMC or Tylose to Fondarific or Choco-pan will not make a good gumpaste.
There is a recipe for gumpaste posted on our website under the Tutorials section. Simply adding CMC or Tylose to a fondant does not always make a good gumpaste. Every brand of fondant is different in texture and elasticity and they all produce a different product when extra gum is added.
I very much enjoy your videos. One correction, though. Wilton actually sells 3 sizes of the forming cups, and the one you used in the video is actually the medium size. (you stated that they make 2 of the forming cups and the one in the video was the larger. Wilton initially had only the 2 sizes, but over 1.5 years ago, they developed the largest one specifically for the gerbera daisy.)
I ordered the PMI cutters but had to order the large seperate.( The three piece didn't have the 4 inch cutter.) Love the tutorial but did get confused about the PMI cutters
It is a pleasure going through your tutorials . Hats off to your work
