Same here. I live here in Brussels and can see via the news and Internet how ignorant our countrymen have become -the strategy of keeping them poor and dumb really shows. If being well educated, articulate, well traveled and able to think critically is going to be a crime, a lot of us veterans are heading to MAGA jail.
I agree. I live in Wales, and have friends from Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, and even Russia, so I don't need the "liberal mainstream media" to tell me what Putin is like. The difference is always intent and the country's governments. Defending yourself or your allies from an attack is not a crime. Killing innocent civilians or general military personnel of any country is always a tragedy.
However, here in the US, what Ukraine is doing, it is known as self defense. They were attacked. They became a sovereign nation a long time ago.
The other difference is the people of Ukraine young and old came out to defend *their* country. Russians were drafted and many even ran and hid to avoid going to "war" because it wasn't *their* war, it was Putin's.

We are spending almost 1 trillion a year on military spending and at least 500 billion a year to protect us against Russia. Spending 70 billion for Ukraine to eliminate that threat is a deal

What's even better is that most of these aid packages we are sending are contracts from US companies that build the military equipment that Ukraine is buying. We are not sending them $70 billion in currency it's some currency but most of it is the value of the contracts that go into the local economies of the US.

I'm 63, and I am still shocked to hear Americans my age...any American of any age actually, that have such a small understanding of what truly made America the country it was that THEY were born into, and their complete ignorance of THEIR part in destroying what took two and a half centuries of new generations to create.

As a Ukrainian it’s incredibly painful to hear comments like the ones in the video. My hometown has been occupied by russia since 2014, my parents lost their home, they left all behind to start life anew at 60+ just to be bombed by russia yet again, this time in Kyiv.
The majority do not think that way, and want Putin brought down.

People often embrace autocracy because they believe that they will benefit from it by getting what they want - power, wealth, status, or the ability to impose their "just" beliefs and values on others - and believe (foolishly) that they won't eventually be a victim of it. "It's okay to oppress and persecute others, as long as it's not me." They'll even try to rationalize it by convincing themselves that it isn't oppression at all because it's happening to the people they don't like and whom therefore "deserve it."
And when you have cable "news" outlets like Fox News constantly telling their viewers that the people that don't share their values, don't agree with them, or are simply different from them are their enemies trying to tear down the entire country and thus need to be feared, hated, and punished, they are being primed to embrace autocratic rulers who will do that for them.
