Awesome video! Do you know, are there any AHBCs left?
Thanks, I don't think there's any in the Republic of Ireland.
7:46 is anyone gonna mention about if you look closely at the wig wag on the right the right light is kind of glitching
I maintain all of the crossings from Annascannon to Clonahard. As well as 21 other crossings on the Mayo and Galway line 👍🏻
Really ?, that must keep you busy !
irelandbloke it does! Each one gets serviced 4 times a year
@@IainCr Is there much involved in servicing them ?
irelandbloke a fair bit yeah! They barriers are raised and lowered by a hydraulic pump unit so that gets a once over(they will get changed out if they begin to show signs of failure) and the large majority is keeping record of various voltages as well as checking relays, contacts and connections etc
There’s a sequence of events triggered by different things so have to make sure that everything lines up and operates correctly/as intended!
@@IainCr Sounds like an interesting job. Is there any sort of failsafe mechanism built in to them that would, for example, drop the barriers in the event of a complete power failure or would a power failure just trigger red lights on the line ?
Levington's Alarm Sounds Like A UK Level Crossing
Is it just me, or do Irish signals have larger lights than the ones in Britain?
I think the crossings outside Dublin have bigger lights than the UK
