- A Royal Air Maroc Boeing 737-800 registration CN-RNP prepares to depart
from Rotterdam bound for Casablanca. The airline usually operates to
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, but due to ongoing operational difficulties at the airport they’re operating out of nearby Rotterdam.
As the aircraft climbs and the crew performs their after takeoff procedures,
they notice that the aircraft’s trailing edge flaps are not retracting from their takeoff position - a condition referred to as “Trailing Edge Flap Disagree”.
The “Trailing Edge Flap Disagree” checklist calls for the crew to perform
a non-normal landing with flaps 15, extended using alternate flap extension.
This will result in a higher-than-normal landing speed and increased rollout distance.

I was on that flight! Unbelievable what happened I was shocked 😮
Was the information communicated to the passengers? Did they mention it was flaps or controls or just "a technical problem"? Curious to know 😊
I was on this flight too.
We heard a bang in the right wing with a sudden loss of altitude.
Passengers were freaking out.
Communication from crew says engine failure.
Flight departure was delayed which was suspicious enough as the aircraft was already hooked but not boarding any passengers.
Landing at schipol past midnight, we were left to spend the night at the airport with no further communication.
Nada (handler) for royal air maroc refused to accommodate passengers with taxis/hotels…
Friends from the airline HQ received a different report from this incident- the investigation was not carried out.
Always mildly surprised by the number of controllers involved in these situations
As long as it’s mild you should be ok
Thank you very much!
2:46 Subtitle says "...we have trouble with flap extending", I think more correct subtitle would be "...request radar vectoring".
Exactly, the pilots didn't mention in any case a flaps extension problem, they said only jammed flight controls

Copy that 👌🏻

Especially when viewing on a phone
"are you ready for a frequency change" , I don't hear that useful question often
this is my home airport how can i lesining
to this
*unintelligible
not illegible
How in the heck do the pilots and ATC actually understand each other? So much static and all that? Is the copy of the radio calls that we have available a big downgrade from actual real in cockpit and atc tower quality?
Yes. The receivers that upload this stuff to the internet are not as good quality as those in the aircraft or in the ATC facility.
@@JamesGJGSUSHI thanks for answering
@@BenoitRAG3 it can also very from the accent and tone of whose talking , but typically at least for me the comma are pretty clear. If anything the problem comes with the speed of the speech.
@@thankyouforoneyear2971 the static over the speech is where I miss a lot. I was born deaf and rely a lot on reading people lips even tho i've got full hearing now. I've always kind of broken down non visual audio different. I hardly even hear the lyrics in music, things like that.
Very poor sound quality overall on this recording - the poor quality from the aircraft may have been because it was low and some distance from the receiver.
FL50? Aren't flight levels only used above 10000 feet?
50 is 5000 feet. US is where they do the weird changover at 9'er or whatever it is.
ATC is very strange outside of the US
The US and Canada transition at 18000'. Australia transitions at 10000'. Different countries do different things.
@@essaalshammari3225 Ha ha - it's the other way around. The USA is different in a lot of ways from the rest of the world.
@@Shamrock100 The US is the home birth of aviation. Here’s something for you. Outside of the US, they use nautical miles for distance but use meters for visibility. They use knots for airspeed but use meters per hour, sometimes per second for wind speed. Also, they say runway 09 for runway 9. And say “ vacate” the runway not exit which is stupid. And the dumbest thing is they say don’t “ penetrate” the apron instead of don’t enter the ramp. I’m not from the US but I’ve flown there and got my licenses. When I compare the US with the other world definitely the US wins easily. Also I forgot they call the altimeter QNH which is so weird.
how the hell do they understand each other? - this is intolerable.
