What can i say great video running on 3s pretty quick...30+mph....cool...my Brother..stretch the shock-spring's a little,That will help the stability of the buggy...at higher speed's...Now you got to go brushless..And unleash the Beast....Lol...Just love your vid's my Brother....Another thumb's up...
Hey cheers bro, good idea on the stock springs that would work, ive already swapped some oil filled ones onto it and added a cooling fan for Round 2 haha, so i'll give it a go on a much wider and longer road to see exactly what she can pull at the absolute max on this stock setup. I have a couple brushless combos on the way that I am waiting on to arrive and will definitely be converting this to brushless in the near future! Cheers as always for the support Ruflasto 👍🍻

I am not quite sure about "stretching" the shock springs can improve the high-speed handling. 🤔 Out of many RC racing years experience I would not have gone this direction, but it is always good to be open for new way ideas…

OK,
oil shocks working good together with the right spring-dampening setup will definitely make a huge difference, but for the improving on high-speed handling on concrete surface like in the video, I am convinced that the tyres are making the biggest difference. The stock tyres are just ballooning and flexing too much at such speeds over 50km/h, making the handling quite unpredictable…
At least my opinion…

Very nice to see that you are going with the stock electronics trying to get the most out of the model…
Just like you say, all the brushless conversions are certainly also fascinating RC projects, but for my taste they are sometimes not so interesting, mainly because all the used equipment is reaching into quite higher price dimensions, at least not really too much budget any longer…
Of course,
it is great to see, what can be done with a good quality budget RTR later…
But we like it, when best possible performance is achieved as budget priced as possible.
Isn't this one of the highest fascinations from our RC hobby…?
Working, trying out and testing with the given and use own ideas and practical changes to make something better…

although i added a fan to the motor heatsink and added an aluminium heatsink to the ESC, i would not recommend 3s without these mods, both were getting pretty hot.
but anyway...after 2 months of playing on 2s with it, i went 3s and the motor's carbon brushes lasted another 1 month afterwards. i guess the stock motor does not take the 11-12V with pleasure :) but it does get really fun
sad thing is you can't change the brushes separately when they wear out, only by buying the whole motor cap with glued-in brushes, which i could only find on aly* and shipping sucks
I run mine on 3s all the time and so far so good! I love this truck!

Are you sure that your ESC is still working…?

If so, I would recommend buying a new 550 brushed motor with ball-bearings and a internal ventilation.
The stock motor just had bushings and, I guess, no internal ventilation, but I am not absolutely sure about the ventilation since I do not have a 550 motor in hand in the moment; but I know their 540 motors do not have ventilation…
Since you want to use 3S I would recommend getting NO motor with less than 21T…
This looks like a possible motor, but unfortunately, I have no personal experience with it yet… Sorry

@@BUDGET_RC_RACER hi! i can say for sure this 550 can has ventilation in it, i would also expect it to handle 3s with 15c, but i don't know if more than that....either way, the stock ESC on this 12402 car might burn up using a 30c on 3s

I really like the look of this truck, and it's a great off road basher, I recommend it for the price David.. and yep good eye.. it has a slight toe out... I'll be running it again soon as I've fitted oil filled shocks and cooling fan now.. Its got a couple more kph in it if I can run it on a longer road.. how many minutes can run on stock electronics in 3s bat.coz mine i use only 2s but only runs for about 7 to 8 min.
Never ran mine on 3s long so don’t really know, I honestly don’t recommend it as you may have a risk of burning out the esc, thanks for watching

Yeah man its a quick truck in stock form, I couldnt even let it stay on full throttle so i think its got more top end speed for sure, i have it ready for another run on a longer and wider stretch of road soon 👍
Hi great video can you tell me what the dimensions of the battery compartment are? which dimensions fit in as a battery?
4.5in x 1.75in x 1.25in. there is a perfect fit 3s lipo for it.

Yeah should be fine mate as long as it fits, I used a 150pmah lipo in this video and it was a tight fit

how hot does it get on 3s and stock electronics ? do you get a weird burned plastic smell after running it 5-10 min? because i do on mine with 3s :)
Hi mate I haven't ran this rc truck for a while but when I ran 3s it did get fairly warm, but I never ran it that long. Best add some sort of cooling fan over the ESC and that will solve your heating issues

Long term are you still running it on 3s and has it caused damage to the esc/motor long term?
Haven't ran this for a while so can't really say if the ESC won't last continuous running on 3s. I mainly run it on 2s Thanks for watching 👍

What is the battery compartment dimensions for this Wltoys 12402-A Truck?
I don't know mate, I don't sit there measuring battery compartments, more interested in running the RC lol. Check out the listing it might say on there, thanks for watching
i may know why you are asking :) wanted to know the same thing before getting this car so that i know what batteries i can DIY into it. after buying it, i can tell you for sure that 3x18650 batteries will NOT fit(neither one on top of each other, neither in series). but you can cut some plastic out and make room, that's what i did. the size of the default compartment is L=11.5cm, W=4cm, Depth=2.7cm(but 1.1cm is occupied by the closing mechanism - check pictures of it online)

That looks great! I ran my 144001 on 3s and did fine but as soon as I put a fully charged 3s in it it fried the esc. Are you using fully charged or partial?
This was fully charged, i also used this same 3s lipo in my 144001 and it made 83kph top end speed

hey Robert, i can't decide weather to go with 3s on this WLTOYS 12402 or not. i don't want to fry the stock esc like it happened to yours. looking at pics of the 144001's esc it seems different, so maybe worth the try with this 12402? what would you say...
really sad though i can't actually find any voltage or wattage specs for these stock ESCs
@@user-qz6ix7od3b Is that the blue and yellow Jeep? If so I ran 3s in mine and it did fine for a few runs and eventually locked the motor up. I changed to a brushless system instead of replacing the stock motor.
