People got mad because the content was basically all G37 type stuff and that's what built the subscriber base. It's standard practice for channels to not totally change their content after building a base, unless they're just enormous and it's almost entirely gained viewers through the personality (ie pewdiepie). So because of that it's good that you added Alex to this group.
I've been chatting with Alex since before he did videos and I found your channel through his videos. I AM also pretty much mainly interested in G37/VQ type content. But depending on what it is I may check out some other things too. I have some channels I'm subscribed to where I don't watch everything they post. I always pick and choose what I want to see. Sometimes I'll skip a video then come back later when I'm really bored and looking for some content.
The rude comments are lame, yes, but that is the internet. People can basically be anonymous and say whatever they want. I wouldn't worry about it, just do what you want and do a good job and even if they leave you'll end up getting other viewers.
