I was really impressed with these, have you heard them? what you thinking?
Streaky I bought a pair as well. Just got them yesterday. Just did my first master in them, just waiting on some feedback A+
Good point comparing cost to professional requirements. Audio gear is relatively inexpensive compared to other industries/pursuits. Thanks : D
Waiting for mine, have bought them today coupled with an RME-ADI-2-DAC at scan uk
Great review. When it comes to my next headphone purchase they will be first on the list. The only thing is, I'm glad you like the look but they look a bit massive for me. They make you kinda look like a certain character from starwars, that for the purposes of decorum I won't name 😬 Other than that, cool cans 😉👍🏼
I am very sensitive to treble on headphones, but I love a great highs on speakers. This headphone has exactly the upper register presentation that I love on speakers with zero fatigue. Amazing.
I could go on about many other technical areas that are on par with the flagships 2x the price. Anyway, I am keeping the HD800 and the Focal Clear but selling everything else that I have.
Do you prefer the HEDDphone or the Focal Clear Pro's ?
I would love to see a comparison video from you between the HEDDphone; Sennheiser HD800 and Audeze LCD-X without Sonarworks and also with Sonarworks where you actually use them on a session. It would be great to hear your opinion on what are the strengths and weaknesses of these compared to each other. Thanks
They are exceptional :)
Streaky, what are the best headphones you've ever heard (for mixing/mastering)? Have you heard LCD-4's, and if so, how do these compare? Thanks!
own them, love them.
LCDX or the Hedds?
Hi Streaky, will you be able to do a comparison video between the Heddphone, LCD-X n Focal Clear Pro. Thank you.
Hedd sounds good. Like hd 800 with more bass. Great soundstage and deatail. I don't know what he thinks is fast in them though...
But they are fuckly and heavy as shit.
LCD-x takes the cake in comfort and layed back sound. Detail is there but you have to listen for it. And planars are fast!
Clear is detailed and bright. Opposite to lcd-x. Try and get the closed back vocals. Stelliar I think. They cost twice the hedd but you instantly hear that they are worth it!
I bought the hd800 used and am using eq. Cant beat that price for what you get.
Lcd-x has allready a place on my desktop. Just waiting for the production to catch up...
What Amp or DAC did you use?
Heyy Streaky, what u think of mixing and eventually mastering on Beyerdinamic DT880 250 Ohm open back headphones?
Or do u have any thoughts on them?
Thankss
Would like to get your opinion on the Neumann headphones. I think they are excellent, very flat.
how would you say they compare to Audeze LCD X's
What headphone amp did you use?
you know its a premium unboxing experience when theres a nIcE bIt Of MaGnEtIc
Hi! How in comparison with austrian audio composer and hi-x65?
You get sweaty head from the ear cups because they are synthetic and not leather (as you said).
I do mastering and i use audeze lcd-x with Sonarworks,Canopener and a custom made balanced amp.Do you think that also these Hedd headphones need correction or a crossfeed filter like Canopener? Thank you
They sound good clean I’ve not tried playing with software but maybe you can customize them to you pref
Back to the future!
Can I borrow this and never give it back? 😏
Damnit I spit out my drink at the Prince Andrew sweaty part 😂🎧
made me cackle and wake up my dog!
Based on visuals I would stick with the Focals ;-)
Will you do a review of Heddphones Two?
These vs Audeze lcd-x ?
these are better
Look amazing. You sure? 😋
4:40 - What the hell are "sliders" ??? If I sound like an amateur, that's because I am. That's why I'm asking?
Sound review at 07:25
streaky buys the ultimate monitors and start reviewing headphones instead :P
I am wondering how come you did not let them break in first, before you compare them to other headphones. Since there is a physical diaphragm it will loosen up some in the beginning and that affects its performance, sometimes quite a lot. In this way it is hard to know if your review is worth much.
They are the demo pair so had plenty of ears in them before me...
@@Streaky_com Thanks for reply, that explains it.
Hey Streaky :-)
How they compare to the AKG K812?
Peace from germany
I’ll get some in
@@Streaky_com I am just curious because the AKGs i use for a couple month now and i really love them, best Studio Reference Headphones i ever heared. Of course this is a little subjective too but i thought the K812 would be great to compare!
@@kaspahauser Hey Daniel, I bought the AKG 812 a long time ago for mastering purposes and I loved it at the beginning. But at some point I thought something was wrong with these headphones. Mainly it was a lowering of the mids starting from 1KHz and a lowering of approx. 6dB. I tried to compensate for this with Sonarworks but the result sounds very strange to my ears. By chance I came across the heddphones and what I got them for 2 weeks. What can I tell you - I am very excited. In a direct comparison, the AKG sound like a tin bucket :-) Of course, at the price you also have to add a strong headphone amplifier, but for me it was worth it.
Would be interested too
My friends call me Princess Leia now
Would be nice to do a time motion video when testing would be good for facial expressions or if your asleep 😂 that was a joke
Streaky apparently got some beers while listening :D Lookin tipsy in the review part :D
Please checkout the stax sr-009
Would have been nice if you attempted to answer the question you posed in the title...
sony mar 7506 are the best headphones
From now.. I couldn’t hearing any headphones better than the Sennheiser hd800
Thought the same loved my hd800 but switched to focal clear ...would not go back. But to be honest depends on the music you make.
lol RTFM it explains the "rattle"
Check out the Rosson Rad-0s, you wont be disappinted
7:20 minutes in and still you haven't talked about how they sound?
zeepster ... Agreed, very frustrating...
note that AMT by design add 2nd order harmonics to the sound... i wouldnt want this as a tool ..
you should check electrostatics
I just go by what I hear
any more explanations on why AMT would add 2nd order harmonics?
@@metam1nd it's because of the fold.. it could be folded in a way that its 3rd harmonics that would be added.. but of course 2nd order harmonics distortiob sound better.. note that AMT push more air by travelling distance.. this should translate in less distortion and more dynamics comparable to other types of planars.. but all depends on the implementation, surface size etc..
also maybe in headphones its different since its very near to the ears..
my take on this is since i do electronic music i dont want added 2nd harmonics distortion because lots of work is about balancing the distortion colors over the instruments.. its similar to uneven FR that sound sweet.. you will EQ wrongly..
@@Streaky_com try LSA HP-1 and LSA hp-2 both cheaper and comfortable..
Prince Andrew 😂
1:29 weight on the key features list seems about 600 grams off 🤪😋
"Prince Andrew And A Bit Sweaty..."
you can hear god talking when you use this
I remember them having something like +10dB at 3kHz and -6dB at 6kHz. Not what I would call „flat“. Doesn’t mean they sound bad, not at all! But c‘mon, don’t say your ears are tuned to EQ and then call them flat.
Ok I’m wrong I know nothing about eq ! 😂😂
@@Streaky_com he's pretty much right about the figures. Still, the heddphones are very close to the Harman AE/OE target as shown here, which is interesting: www.head-fi.org/threads/hedd-announces-heddphone-with-amt-technology.906270/page-32 . Does a ruler flat headphone even exist?
But "your ears are tuned to EQ" :)
No good headphone designer would want to tune his design to ruler flat. Headphones measured ruler flat do not sound flat. If it was that simple, all headphones aimed at professional use above $400 would be ruler flat. Headphone design and "acoustics" is way more complicated than that. On a headphone what the ears (your brain) perceive as a "flat" response actually has many peaks and valleys. If you look at Headphones vs Speakers eg.
a.) The natural interaction of the sound with the listener's head before it reaches the ears is eliminated on headphones.
b.) No crossfeed on headphones between your ears.
c.) "Freqency is one of the ways we determine direction and distance of sounds. The soundstage of course is closely linked to the apparent direction and distance of instruments. Changing/tuning the FR will therefore have an effect on the soundstage of a headphone."
d.) "Mixes/masters would normally be done on and for speakers, not headphones. Therefore the equal loudness curves would differ, particularly in the bass, because a headphone doesn't have the advantage of bone/body conduction and therefore needs a boost in the bass response to maintain the same apparent power."
c.) etc
If you don't believe me, just imagine a perfect mix made on perfectly flat monitors. Then imagine listening to that mix with your ears glued right up against the speakers. Clearly it would sound very different. Listening to music through a headphone means the sound is coming directly from the surface of your ear. This is as unnatural acoustically as it gets. Your ears were not designed for this so this needs to be compensated in the headphone design. Anyway, if you're interested about how to read headphone frequency graphs and understand what to look for, you can start here:

@@jekeydaniel7276 thx 4 this, this is very true
I came very close to buying these...until I saw the review and measurements on Audio Science Review. I was put off by the distortion levels and the review comments. I am still intrigued by them and may end up with them as a second pair of head phones. For now I ended up ordering the Audeze LCD XC.
How did you enjoy the LCD’S? And did you choose closed back?
@@DNGMaestro I ended up with both for a short time. Then I got rid of all of my headphones and am now using a set of 64Audio u12t IEMs. Best audio decision I have made in the last 15 years. I don't think I will ever go back to headphones.
@@CrazyAboutVinylRecords you prefer the earphones to headphones? Just out of curiosity, can you elaborate a bit on that?
@@DNGMaestro Sorry it has taken so long for me to respond. All I can tell you is that I have owned headphones costing as much as $5,000 and every single one of them disappointed me in one way or another. I don't think very many advances in headphones have been made in the last 10 to 15 years. But IEMs have really undergone a transformation. I paid $2,000 for my 64Audio u12t IEMs and I think they sound better than a loudspeaker system that I paid over $8,000 for. And it wasn't that the speakers were wanting...they were very good. But the IEMs were better. They were more timbrally accurate, better resolving, had greater clarity at higher SPLs, and just sounded more like live music when fed the right source material. Switching to IEMs allowed me to move 200lbs of loudspeakers and 120lbs of amplifiers out of the house. An added bonus is that my wife no longer knocks on my office door to complain the music is too loud. I still have a pair of very good headphones that I use for recording and mixing in my home studio. I would use my IEMs for that too but it is not quite as convenient. That being said, where sound quality is concerned my u12t IEMs reign supreme.
Pardon me… but it would be really a super extra bonus if these beasts were really 118 grams… 😁
What happend to your content....? I follow you since few years because of good gear preview and good mastering tips. Now i feel like i’m in woods super duper shop...
I like to mix it up
Streaky maybe its just me but i liked your neutral previews more than this teleshoping style. Thanks though for all the work you put in.
Streaky why is your face like pressed up against the camera 5:36. Chill bro and back up.
I wish they were just 118 grams lol
He said the weight was 118 grams... That can't be correct, can it?
The Sennheiser hd 800s's blow them away.. the hedd's are too heavy after 2-3 hours on your head you need a massage
The sennheiser win against all headphones on weight so it depends on if you are listening non stop without taking them off for 4 hours it could be a pain
I have the HEDDphone and I have the exact problem you mentioned. To my ears they sound perfect but they‘re just too goddamn uncomfortable :( Did you compare them to the HD800s? I‘ve heard from people who have heard both that the HEDD sound like the HD800s „should have sounded in the first place“ ...
@@metam1nd I would go for LSA HP-1 at 1300$us
@@metam1nd they sound 90% the same.. the 10% difference isn't worth all that weight on your head
@@walterblake1 is the missing 10% between the hd800s and the HEDD the bass performance? If so, would the more dynamic Focal clear be a good balance/compromise headphone to select?
700g. I'd rather break one driver and use with 2 ears in that case. Anything over 400g is breaking the limit of tolerance and above 500g is sheer stupidity. Why can't we just strap two studio monitors on our head instead.
Were you paid to say all of this? I have these headphones and they're significantly worse than HD800s, TH900 and GL1200, Jade II, and basically anything else in that price bracket. The mids are all muddy and really off. These don't sound neutral or normal at all. This is coming from a guy that owns Martin Logan AMT speakers and loves the crap out of them. This is not that.
Let the phones talk or sing, don't talk yourself tooo much
you have to buy them from a dealer? shit who cares then
MQA is a scam. Please don't promote it as high quality audio - it isn't.
£1500+ for headphones? I'm sure theyre really good but 1.5k for headphones? No way for me. you can get dt880 pro and dt 990 pro plus half decent monitors for the same kind of money. would love to hear them though. There arent many places that stock hedd equpment let alone demo them near me. Happy with my type 20s. build quality is exceptional
Please stop lurching forwards and backwards in front of the camera. It’s so distracting. Thanks.
Ugly headphones. They need to work on making it less bulky and stylish.
