    I had the TL1000s in 1997 and it was the most fun I had on any bike 👍

      Had a 98 in Black, wish I can find the same to buy it again, even with the fame of being the Widow Maker 💀, hell yeah!

    Excellent effort ma man. You’re very smooth and absolutely had the joy on the R6. Not bad for an old bike against a modern 130bhp 600. You weren’t even revving it out completely. Then the R1’s etc come by it’s like FUCK!! That’s quick. I’ve just bought my TL as a bucket list, I’m 60 so never too late. What’s been done to yours? Sorry it’s 2 years ago!!! 🤣. Just catching up ….. read ALL the forums 🙄🤣🤣👍. TL’s Rock

      Sorry mate missed the details of your note! My bike had a pretty stock engine. I made the airbox bigger and had short velocity stacks on it. Yosh RS exhaust, remapped powercommander. Marvic Penta wheels, Ohlins shock in back and race tech gold valves in the forks, resprung and revalved. The wheels/suspension were good and it ran well enough. Really fun bike to ride up to 90% or so!! Not the most fun if you pushed it as hard as you could, but absolutely great bike for what I was doing!

    Nice job ! smooth riding, i have a 97 , have done many track days on it , ( not recently) ,tough when these other 1000's are 150-175 HP

    • @rg500delta
      @rg500delta  5 лет назад +2

      mike e I think of the TL as basically a 600-class bike, just with less RPM and more midrange! But once you look at it that way, it’s OK. It’s a decent matchup against 600s and 675s.

  • @DontNickMe
    @DontNickMe 4 года назад +3

    These are 125hp stock... Most have upgraded exhaust+ PCIII = 135-140 hp. Also 80lbs torque which is more than the inline 4s

    • @rg500delta
      @rg500delta  4 года назад +1

      Nick my poor old TL pushed out 109 hp last time on the dyno. But you know what... it’s easy to ride!!

    • @rolandfrerichs5625
      @rolandfrerichs5625 4 года назад +7

      In our club no one has reached 130 HP. 120-122 HP and 73-75 lbs (102Nm) is considered excellent and nearly all of them have aftermarket exhausts and PCs.

  • @reaver69

    Funny to see how the old bike reels them in under braking and in the twisty bits. its only the straights where the newer bikes show the HP advantage 👍

    I just got TL1000r 01. Have u ever had with the neutral light not turning on?

    • @rg500delta
      @rg500delta  12 дней назад

      Nope, but the neutral position is detected by a little pack of contacts on the end of the shifter drum. You may simply have a break in one of the wires coming out from there? Search for 'TL1000S neutral sensor' and you will find many of those units for sale, maybe $30. I'd try swapping that out if reseating the connector doesn't work.

    impressive acceleration of the new 1000cc compared to TLS.

      rg500delta i think its a v4r... the r6 only scream (1m:0s) 😆and the mt10 in the beginning of the video doesnt fly way 👌🏻

      @rg500delta  Год назад +1

      I just watched this again- that guy on the Ducati- I didn't realize that was the same bike I kept catching up to. But man... on that front straight I think he put about 5 seconds on me 😅... Stunning. He turns into a tiny pinprick in just a few seconds. I suppose if the TL accelerated like that the lap times would be about 10 seconds quicker at Road America! Three long straights make this a fun place - even on a "milder" bike like a TL you get to go 150 mph a few times. It's super fun. I sold this bike in 2022, sadly - but it was a great trackday partner and it never let me down. I loved it.

    What gearing are you running? Just picked up a '98 TLS and looking to bring it out to RA next year. Great riding!

    • @rg500delta
      @rg500delta  5 лет назад +1

      Moto Mott gearing is stock. I ran a datalogger and compared the TL vs the KTM 1290R, I was actually faster thru most corners on the TL but the KTM gained about a second on each straight. I’ll have to post some of the datalog stuff, somehow.

    Does the 1997 tl 1000 s only have 108 hp Thats not much my dads 2001 Tl 1000 s has 138 as standard + powercommander = 153

    • @whisperdancer
      @whisperdancer 4 года назад +5

      No TLS has 138hp as standard, neither the powercommander would give you 15hp...

    • @rolandfrerichs5625
      @rolandfrerichs5625 4 года назад +1

      @@whisperdancer But it sounds cool doesn't it? My TL1000S says 92 KW (123) on the registration. But there's quite a bit of difference between years and regions. I think later models even had the power reduced in 1st and 2nd gear.

    • @rolandfrerichs5625
      @rolandfrerichs5625 4 года назад

      In Europe, the 97 model was faster than later models. It was deemed too dangerous so later models had their fuel mapping adjusted.

    • @Taz6688
      @Taz6688 4 года назад +1

      @@rolandfrerichs5625 Bought mine just after they came out in the UK, it soon had recalls petrol tank, steering damper and ECU it was savage, the ECU cured the stalling it suffered but it was never as raw as the first few months of riding, it was hard to keep the front down, the only tank slapper I had was after hitting a bunny that ran out, fond memories of open roads and far less speed cameras

    • @rg500delta
      @rg500delta  4 года назад +3

      Back in 1997, a real strong stocker would make 113. Guys were saying 120 with a full exhaust. Mine never made those kind of numbers, even after fooling with exhaust, airbox etc my best was 117 hp when it was newer. Oh well. don't get too hung up on the number. Somehow it can run next to track-fitted YZF-6Rs and 675s, I don't understand it but there you go. On the other hand those bikes handle much easier on the track! haha
