Looper no offence but it was metroid and catslevania that made the shonra not just catslevania but I love you're channel also most of you're facts are wrong
I'm glad you liked it. THIS was part of my childhood. I must of spent a few hundred hours playing SOTN. And my hand-me-down NES came with all the Castlevania games. Part IV was fucking amazing on the SNES too.
Welcome to the Bloodline family. Don't forget the classic "Rondo Of Blood" Which if we want a cheaper version like I did. Get a Sony PSP, pick up Dracula X Chronicles. And unlock the original arcade Akumajo Dracula or "Rondo Of Blood". Have fun!
wantsome480 weirdly enough this is exactly what Konami did with Lords of Shadow 2, which is why they stopped making games for tje series and went full pachinko
Lords of Shadow was absolutely amazing. Yeah it suffered in parts (the camera and controls) but the story, the characters, the Dante's Inferno inspired protagonist's decent into darkness... it was incredible. Honestly I can't praise it enough, it really gripped me unlike 90% of the games I play. Even the choice to have each level narrated by Patrick Stewart who captured the feel of the story perfectly was great, shrouded in an incredible composition by Oscar Araujo. It's just such a shame they couldn't continue it with LoS2, it was such a let down with incredibly terrible design and development choices. I think I'll go play it again...
I love the timeline of Castlevania. From the Belmonts, Alucard/Genya Arikado, Shanoa and Albus, Jonathan Morris up to Soma Cruz(which is Dracula reincarnated).
they should have gone with the bad ending to keep it going(making Soma a new evil). The 100 year thing isn't even that big of a deal cause they broke that rule all the time. Or other people used the power of the castle or dracula ect.
GadGades exactly, they could always have power hungry warlocks trying to resurrect Dracula, or Dracula himself go through rituals to break the 100 year rule and come back whenever the hell he wanted to. They focused too much on the timeline and lost their creativity. They could have stuck in a game anywhere they wanted, give us an alucard back story, a Dracula origin story, a Belmont origin story, shaft side stories, they got stuck or lazy.
I'm waiting for Netflix Castlevania Season 2's three episodes, Season 3's two episodes, Season 4's single episode and Season 5's half episode plus DLC where Alucard finally gets to Alchemy Laboratory after getting the Cube of Zoe
They only did 4 episodes for the first season as a test run basically too see if anyone would acctualy enjoy a castlevainia netflix original. Season 2 has 8 eps and season 3 will have 10 apparently.
Castlevania has been my obsession since I was a child in the 80s playing Simon's Quest. I now own practically all games and replay them constantly. Symphony and Harmony of Dissonance are probably my two favorites
Wrong! It was a Catholic Church bashing propaganda show by a hindu producer and a satanic white guy with poor animations that told everyone to sympathize with Dracula.
Yeah I'm not Catholic but I did feel as if it was heavy on the Catholic Church bashing. For Europe of the 1,400-1,500 to be fully anti science didn't make sense, the single most largest threat to Eastern Europe then was the growing Ottoman Empire for them to worry about science. Also I think that they would've turned to science to develop weapons to combat the Ottomans, I mean it was literally how many decades before the Renaissance Era. If it was set in the Dark Ages 900-1,200AD pre Crusades of the Medieval period then yeah I'd get they'll all be anti science but not in the few decades before the Renaissance.
You showed clips from the film Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) but didn't mention that Lament of Innocence's story is a direct homage to that movie (particularly Mathias Cronqvist)
Here's the truth. The creator and key developers left to make Bloodstained. If you want more Castlevania, play that. Their last effort before departing from Konami was Harmony of Despair.
I miss the Lords of Shadow part of the franchise. It was a very cool interpretation of Castlevania. And I liked the fact that they tried to ditch the goofy 90s monster designs and went for something more creative.
Yes, Yes I do feel old. Especially when you try to think back to something that happened in the 80's and you say it happened 10 yrs ago. Only to realize you are living in the wrong decade. This happened to me the other day, I was discussing the L.A. riots (92) and Hurricane Katrina (04). I didn't think time would slip away from me so quickly.
His real name is Adrian -- Alucard is his nickname since he opposes Dracula. Even the Netflix show mentioned it, which I find really impressive. Such an accurate show.
We need another Castlevania game..NOW! I'm a big Castlevania fan since the 1980s plus looking forward to season 2. Another fun fact: The bosses influence from the games was from Universal studios to Greek mythology creatures.
If I had to speak "objectively" I wouldn't say it's my absolute favorite because of the horrible levels which were just uninteresting corridors and big rooms. But subjectively, I can never have enough of that game. Godlike soundtrack, fun as hell combat and the ID system is FUCKING GENIUS, maybe the best "magic" system in the entire saga. Plus the longevity was crazy for completionists. My favorite is probably Order of Ecclesia but for God's sake Curse of Darkness is a close second. Subpar visuals, but absolute masterpiece of a game. (I also think Lament of Innocence is amazing too, tbh. Not a single Castlevania by IGA, plus Circle of the Moon, that I don't like)
Fascinating. Thank you. Just finished devouring the first 2 seasons of the new animated program, eagerly anticipating when 3 drops. All of these mysteries are in the right places. One theme is the shadowy origins of intellectual property.
Well konami over the years have pretty much killed all of their long running franchises in order to either make pachinko machines or worse yet fire the uber lord in hideo kojima. One of these mistakes was allowing to remove Circle of the Moon from the timeline when in fact the game was had really high scores and considered to be the best game boy advanced game.
The Truth about Castlevania?-----------Makes it sound like the creators were dishonest or something. Why not title these videos "facts about castlevania" or something? Title is pretty misleading. Unless of course your counting on people to click on it because of the misleading title...
Kind of sucks that programmers were told to use fake names. If I worked on a video game I would want to use my real name, how do you prove that you worked on the game?
+aaronimpactnz I think that was the point. The bosses tried to make it harder for rival companies to find out who made the games so that they can't tempt those programmers with better offers.
In the U.S I remember it was because they just didn't want people to know the artist and wanted them to know the company. Wonder if it was the same in japan. But then they changed it. I used to think it was a character limit.
I love Castlevania. Too bad Konami doesn't care about the series anymore. Well, at least we have the anime and IGA is working on a spiritual successor called bloodstained ritual of the night.
I know a lot of people hate it, but castlevania 64 started it all for me when i was a kid. Ive loved castlevania ever since and i am so happy about the netflix series. So glad they didnt mess it up.
COOL... Metal Gear Solid was one of my Favorite games and now another one of my favorite games Castlevania Lord of Shadows (Hideo Kojima) was the Producer the creator of Metal Gear...AWesome
One inaccuracy is that you said the MSX game never left Japan, but it did see a European release under the title Vampire Killer. The rest seems fairly accurate. An interviewer once asked IGA who the creator of Castlevania was, but he said he couldn't say because that person worked at a rival company.
I don't care how bad people now see Captain N was. I never missed an episode as a kid and I have all 3 seasons on DVD and still watch them. As a kid that show was the best thing ever.
The truth about Castlevania is that I wanna play it and even watch videos such as this one simply because I adore the soundtrack that much (also watched the Netflix show and actually really enjoyed it, but oddly enough that didn't make me wanna play it)
How can you not LOVE a franchise featuring some of the most intense, challenging, platforming action with a badass gothic horror Victorian setting and over the top character designs and KICK-ASS soundtracks??? (> w
I love Castlevania, but the current state of it is pretty garbage. Konami has an amazing franchise that they just need to sell off to someone already. There is a good 3D Castlevania game to be designed out there in the ether somewhere. If I had it my way I would give the team behind the recent Tomb Raider reboot (Crystal Dynamics) a shot at Castlevania. Rise of the Tomb Raider is the best 3D Castlevania I've never played. -Platforming sections with navigation hurdles? Check. -Interconnected map that is more easily traversed with upgrades and new items? Check. -Backtracking with new items and upgrades yields further exploration of old areas? Check. -Hidden platforming sections and fun secrets found through cracks in the walls? Check. Those are the core of Castlevania games. The maps and navigating their secrets. That's what people love about them. When LoS came out that's the stuff everyone bitched about. Just take Tomb Raider and make the setting a castle built into a mountain. You'll have outdoor areas, indoor areas, all the icy, magma filled, and hellish wonders of the castle basements carved into the bowels of the mountain like the Mines of Moria from Lord of the Rings. They can do crazy shit and won't even need to do anything to justify it. Dracula's castle is literally defined by impossible architecture. A dev. team with that much freedom could go nuts and not have to care. Replace Lara Croft's guns with melee combat weapons and replace her faceless henchmen enemies with interesting creatures. You can keep the camping and crafting if you just gear them toward Castlevania stuff. Crafting throwing knives instead of arrows. Enchanting them with holy water/silver/fire/whatever for different effects. Upgrading your items is the same. Instead of upgrading your rifle with a new scope you upgrade your whip with a new tip or something that makes it a razor whip or a fire whip or something sort of like Castlevania: Circle of the Moon had with the cards. I could go on for days about how a 3D Castlevania is possible, but I wont. My point has been made. I'm open to other people's opinions on this and if you have any Developers you think would make a good 3D Castlevania.
I have ALWAYS loved Castlevania. My personal Favourite ideals of Dracula/Prince of darkness /Alucard. Alucard is hands down, the best. > Interpretations of him seem to be everywhere.
And i really, really, want to replay SOTN with an Xbox controller, if possible. SOTN will ALWAYS be my favorite side-scroller. 200% in vid is the best idea EVER.
That would likely be because - hold on (actually bothers to fact check) - the influence of the artist Yoshitaka Amano. As far as I could tell he's sort of like a frigging _star_ in Japan's art world especially around the mid-nineties to early 2000s. Initially I thought he did work on Symphony of the night but no, although he did work on quite a few games (mostly final fantasy). If anyone really loved symphony's art style and character designs then _definitely_ go check out Yoshitaka's work, he has some absolutely amazing work and there's plenty of online galleries of his work.
Did you know that the the 1985 movie is based on Hideyuki Kikuchi’s series of 1980’s light novels along with the sequel movie “Bloodlust” that came out in the early 00’s! I own a few of the novellas and they are translated very well plus illustrations by Yoshitaka Amano himself. I’m not far enough into the books to find out exactly how D is the son of Dracula but he is his offspring! Highly recommended stuff.
Dracula will ¨always¨ come back after a hundred years, unless someone awaken him, or use his remains to obtain more power, just to back fire and made him the new dracula. This are the games were that happened Castlevania Circle of the moon Castlevania Order of ecclesia Castlevania Harmony of dissonance Castlevania Portait of ruin Castlevania Simon quest Castlevania Dawn of sorrow Castlevania Symphony of the night
Despite it being a 80s Saturday Morning Show I love Captain N the game master! You wouldn't get an amalgam of so many cool video game characters in one spot since well Smash Bros!
What about Castlevania having two origin games? Sure Castlevania Legends is retconned with Lament of Innocence placed as the real origin, but there was almost a different beginning
Well, I have to say I really liked the Lord of Shadows and wish they would continue on. In any case, Castlevania fans like me are in dire need of another Castlevania game, just my humble opinion.
Few medieval artisans' names are known. Their artistic fingerprint is enough. Were they that bothered, they would make their presence known on wikipedia. They did their duty and completed their projects. Who reads the credits anyway?
I remember Captain N as a kid. I liked it at the time, because it was about video games, and I was like seven years old. But, they ruined almost every video game character, except for the bad guys. Did they call Pit from 'Kid Icarus', Icarus on the show? Corporate idiots. If they would have just made the cartoon in a serious manner, it would be making money for them still today.

You guys did some home work for this. Castlevania was always known for its cheesy dialogue. The Netflix series does it justice!
Looper lies lies lies you probably get you're facts of wikipedia
Everything with you guys is "The Truth" "The Real Reason" "Untold".. Come up with some original titles please.
Looper no offence but it was metroid
and catslevania that made the shonra not just catslevania but I love you're channel also most of you're facts are wrong
I think the original Castlevania was influenced more by the vintage Universal monster movies than Bram Stoker.
Netflix Castlevania is awesome. I enjoy it.
So do I. It's very dark.
So do I It's very dark.
Dracula did nothing wrong
Not to me either.Great series, can't wait for more
Can't wait to see the second season.
Not gonna lie. Wasn't a bad Netflix original
I got into this franchise last week, and dude. It's amazing.
Pranav Rao Thanks dude.
Eduardo Rios welcome. You have almost 30 years of games to get through! Have fun!
I'm glad you liked it. THIS was part of my childhood. I must of spent a few hundred hours playing SOTN. And my hand-me-down NES came with all the Castlevania games. Part IV was fucking amazing on the SNES too.
I'm happy for you. The series is amazing. Definitely check out Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, and Order of Ecclesia.

Back when developers focused on created quality experiences instead of cash grabs.

Right here.
I loved his character
Here buddy
hell yeah. But I'm biased.
LOI was my favorite game but then i didnt like what they did with COD.

Captain N didn't get anything right
probably the dumbest cinema/animation translation ever.
Nope but it sure was entertaining at 11 years old.
The kid alucard made me cringe how do you go from a serious, dedicated warrior to THAT
But they got Simon's and Alucard's hair color right, tho...
Castlevania on netflix is soooo fucking good.
crazy good
It is. But they only made four episodes.
Felix Zaragoza next season has 8

SWEET!!
Mine is "Portrait of Ruin", followed by "Rondo of Blood"!!^^
Mine too. The soundtrack creates such a captivating atmosphere.
I don't know rondo of blood, but portrait of ruin was pretty good.

I still have my copy of my original Castlevania from NES system.

Oh yeah Dracula that guy from that batman movie, didnt know that he got his own gaming spin off!
The Netflix Castlevania is a perfect animated show.

You know I hope Netflix Castlevania will continue up towards the next chapters like in the games..
I think *_Vampire Hunter D_* (1985) had some influence on the game too ..
That movie is awesome
Bryan Kelly It does. Alucard's sword looks very similar to D's sword. It's even more obvious in the Netflix series.
That would likely be because - hold on (actually bothers to fact check) - the influence of the artist Yoshitaka Amano. i remember watching captain N as a kid XD
I still want our Castlevania 1999!
Despite it being a 80s Saturday Morning Show I love Captain N the game master! You wouldn't get an amalgam of so many cool video game characters in one spot since well Smash Bros!
We need a new classic 2-D Metroidvania game asap! Hell I would take a remake of Castlevania 3!
Everything I already knew about castlevania the video
Wow ty
You have just educated me on castlevania the greatest vampire game/anime ever made
fred fuchs disliked this
So, basically Kojima killed the entire franchise?
Holy shit the original castlevania nes game is 31 years damn I'm old i remember getting it when i was like 4
Nintendo published the only castlevania games that mattered up until the genesis.
I'd love to see a new Castlevania.
I don't think we could find a better versionof Alucard anytime soon
What about Castlevania having two origin games? Sure Castlevania Legends is retconned with Lament of Innocence placed as the real origin, but there was almost a different beginning
Loved castlevania since childhood. I really hope they continue the netflix series!

Did they call Pit from 'Kid Icarus', Icarus on the show? Corporate idiots. If they would have just made the cartoon in a serious manner, it would be making money for them still today.
props for mentioning that good comic though
The only real "truth" about Castlevania is that a man is nothing more than a miserable pile of secrets. 👹
