I, for one, fully support Paizo having an official option inside the game called "Tour Guide." It could be a kind of "Content Creator" Android that loses the emotionally unaware flaw, but gains a penalty called "Pendantic Rambling" instead. Sounds like a solid character option!
I agree with you about the Emotionally Unaware aspects of Androids, it’s one thing for it to be an option, but if they’re already got consciousness in a Space FANTASY they might as well also be able to read the room-in more ways than one.

It sounds like those Prismeni issues need to be reworked into more feats. A high level feat to pull a ship into the Drift seems fair, a base ability is a bit much. Similarly, starting with a very good cantrip in Electric arc is worth a level on feat, but the battery charging aspect should at least require one more feat either at level 5 or 9.
First off, loved that you used Garnet as a reference. Second, I agree with all of your points. I also wouldn't mind seeing an Android heritage that reflects one that was created illegally as a slave, then escaped. I think the Prismeni could be fixed in two ways: 1) Their ability to act as a Drift conduit should come with a major drawback, like losing half their HP and being unable to heal it away with magic/tech (and probably require the ship MUST have a Drift Engine, even if not working). 2) Give them the choice of either Electric Arc OR Recharge Weapon.
Point of interest: while I know this is a quick summary, Humans do have more than just the one new Ancestry Feat =] There's one for 1st, two for 5th, one for 13th, and both 17th level feats are also completely new! And some of these would be amazing just to port over to PF2E right now 👀 Nitpick aside: I also *LOVE* the Kasatha and totally understand why they needed to be "toned down" a bit, having played a Kasatha Fighter in PF1E that went both sword'n'board and two-hander for insanely high tanking and heavy damage output. 'Course, that was before even SF1E so there was very little lore on the Kasatha back then (they had a small spot in "People of the Stars" and later "Inner Sea Races"), so RP'ing the character was a bit bland without much to work with, but I *really* like what they did when they became a core ancestry in SF1E ^_^
I said MOST of their ancestry feats are the same, and then chose to highlight one that was new. But yes, I should have been more clear. Glad to see another out there who likes the Kasatha.
Artisan (crafter) and laborer do a lot of heavy lifting. I mean, what jobs can you think of that you’d want a ‘slave’ Android to do? Manufacturing (artisan), labor, maybe C-3PO’s job of translating, or fighting. That covers a wide array. I mean, I agree that more would be nice, but those 4 cover a wide area.
This is just a playtest, there may be more to come whenever more books come out. I like that they covered the basics, at least. Otherwise, I do think ancient warrior androids should have armor options in addition to weapon advancements, even if it just ends up being a free Light Armor choice or whatever.
It is a good thing that the Venture Officers have recommended your videos. @ 1:15 Androids have the most screwed up lore in terms of their existence. The soul can change, but the body doesn't. A soul can leave the body when its mortal life is at an end. Look at the Dead Suns AP for more info.
Yeah, I know. I avoided talking about it because it can be a touchy subject for some. And I don't want to get into all that heavy stuff on this channel. I'm not qualified, and this isn't the right place. Also, I'm honored that there are some venture officers out there that have recommended my videos. I didn't think they were much good at all. Tell them thank you for me!
The Kasathans are funny to me due to their lore combined with their attribute flaw. They could have all tried to coexist with the Akitonians but were like “But that would involve social interaction and I’m not sure how I feel about that.” I feel you Kasathans. I feel you.
There's not good flaw for Kasathans. They are supposed to be wise, so wisdom is out. Strong, lithe, and able to survive the desert wastes, so all the physical attributes are out. They are supposed to be some of the best ship builders, so intelligence is out, what do you do?
@@PsiPrimeProductions1 Oh don’t get me wrong I’m not saying it SHOULDN’T be that. It’s just that the flaw gives a very comedic reason for them staying in orbit. Not bad mouthing. I mean funny as literal funny, not judgmental funny.
Overall most of the races seem "fine." Not wildly exciting, but with one or two interesting quirks each. One or two seem outright busted, and not necessarily in a way that would be fun for the GM or players. Ahh well, that's why we have playtests. Keep that input coming, testers!
On the topic of androids and emotional understanding, in 1e and PF2e I interpreted them as possibly being an allegory for Autism and neurodivergence. Mostly because of how well u and a few of my friends related to the flavour text
I personally think Multi-armed is a tad too weak to be all an ancestry gets, but agree it can't be buffed easily without creating a monster. Perhaps Kasatha should have an additional racial trait?
I mean, humans don't get ANY racial traits so . . . Also, I have seen a few recommended buffs, like that four-armed species can get a free action to switch their arms 1/round.
I've seen them used a couple of times. Usually if players are in a time crunch and have to cover a lot of ground quickly. But yes, it is situational. Same as that Ysoki heritage that lets them ignore difficult terrain of 'small spaces that are small enough to be difficult terrain, but are not so small that you are squeezing.' Haven't seen that too often. Some of the abilities are fairly niche.
One thing I'm wondering is. what ancestry would fit an android who was once human, but basically turned themselves into an android to escape the weakness of flesh.
Not sure that is possible in the lore of Starfinder other than the reincarnate spell. Each body can only take so much modification (max number of augmentations). But if you are doing a home game with your own lore, try Android with custom mixed heritage human or vice versa.
@@PsiPrimeProductions1 I mean. The main lore justification is uploading the concincunus into a new body. If there's magical tech to augment your body with, or Helldrives. (Yes. Those are a thing) I'm sure there's tech to die that. (Said character would be a mystic of Treune. You can probably see where this is going) :3
Hmm... too many ancestries with limited telepathy... too many Charisma flaws... with the 4-armed peeps, limit the second pair of arms to light activity, like Weber's treecats, which would remove at least some of the perceived egregious possibilities... I find it interesting that Paizo made genre-specific ancestry feats for humans, though they presumably allow other Pathfinder ancestries (e.g. elves). Supplements, maybe.
Most of the Golarion species survived the disappearance of Golarion, and so yes, most Pathfinder anciestries should be available in Starfinder. In SF1, there is an empire of Gnolls (now Kholo) who are quite nice, an evil empire of Hobgoblins, and Elves are originally from Catrsovel (and some are still there) so all of them are almost certainly going to be available.
I, for one, fully support Paizo having an official option inside the game called "Tour Guide."
