Instead of lipstick I use lipliner in the color I want. I can find them for pretty much dirt cheap usually $1-$2 and just put clear lipgloss over them. The lip pencils last longer, no one knows what lipstick you’re wearing anyway other than what they see as the color. The color tends to last longer and I can have more color options for cheaper, and also it’s more portable.
Caitlin I am loving your new era of videos! Media exposure can be so toxic, espcially for many of us young women who are impressionable and, as much as we don't like to admit it: naive. Influencers, celebrities and companies prey on our insecurities and create a false narrative around the products and services they profit off, making us desperate to own more, newer, prettier things in hopes that it will make us feel a sense of belonging. We're made to believe that this external validation is the key to happines, and can sadly become victims of our own fantasies and desires. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us, I hope more people see your videos and the much needed life lessons they convey
I think most new makeup is overhyped. Like you said about the lipsticks, most of us have our go to shades and products, and most of us won't get use out of the countless eyeshadow pallets etc. I also think most influencers only hype these products for content and because they make commission. I can think of several beauty influencers who have more makeup than a Sephora store, yet they sport the exact same makeup look almost every video.
Omg thank you for mentioning your side effects from the lash serum. I’ve been using GrandeLash for a long time, and I also noticed the area around my eyes looking darker/pinkish/purple…this whole time I thought I was aging or just not sleeping well😭my eyelids also went from looking more hooded to having a lot more creasing, which makes sense as these lash serums can refuse the fat. Im definitely going to miss all the compliments of people thinking my eyelashes are fake, but it’s better to stay away from these. !
Re eyelash serums, I used to use the one from Rodin & Fields that was around $130 a tube. I stopped after several tubes when I noticed that my eyelid area was darkening. I also noticed that while my lashes grew super long, they all broke off at the base after a certain point. Skip ahead a few years, there was a class action suit against them for failing to disclose the risks of the product. On the bright side, I ended up getting a settlement check for around the price of one tube. I still lost all the other money I spent on it, but I was glad that the truth came out.
I asked my friend today what she wears on her lips as they always look gorgeous and she said pawpaw ointment! Lolz that was not what I wanted to hear. Not magic enough for me 😂
I have just realised that this is never going to end. We are only going to stop consuming once there is nothing left to consume. Also: the 20-30s is a big market because they don’t know the value of money yet and are typically newly released from home/in college/first job. By the time you get to 30 you only know that half of it is rubbish because you actually tried a lot of it. Now you have go to lipsticks etc. And in saying that: I realise that I have joined the ‘people in the ivory tower’ who can say ‘X doesn’t work/make you happy’ … because I actually got to _try_ it. Sad because your message is great but I wish past me could have listened then. I wish the current victims would listen: but they are most likely in a totally different corner of the algorithm actively watching the reviews and have already made the purchase.
I remember when eyelash growth treatments first came out and they still has to be prescribed by a doctor. The commercials (starring Brooke Shields) had a side effects disclaimer that said the product could cause discoloration to your skin or changes to the color of you irises. Fast forward to now and these products are okayed for OTC with no warning labels at all which just seems wrong!
Totally agree when it comes to lipstick. I have 3 main colors - pink, coral, and fuchsia. But, I still like to see if Chanel, Bobbi Brown, etc. have new versions of those colors each season (Chanel's nudes last season was a big bust). Other than that, I have given up on red - even after finding flattering ones, I just don't use them.
Love your current direction and videos I’m so here for it! I’m using the budget planner you recommended it’s honestly the best! Also after deleting my Facebook and instagram accounts I’m feeling like a new woman! Would love to see an updated beauty video on your routine skincare tried and true faves it was such a great video last time X
The eyelash serum caused me issues too. My under eye became hollow and bluish purple - looked like I aged 10 years. I got under eye boosters to get rid of it (in the clinic I’m usually going for Botox) - that helped. I’m not using those serums with that particular ingredient anymore. I’m using the Olaplex serum - which is an eyelash conditioner. Honestly, the results are very subtile with this one but at least it doesn’t give me dark circles. Edit: even the medical spa where I’m going for my Botox is selling those toxic lash boosters so I’m not blaming influencers for advertising them either.
Glad you didn't have long lasting side effects of that serum! I've been using L'Oreal Paris Makeup Voluminous Lash Primer before mascara and I think that's been helping my lashes look longer
Darling have you tried castor oil for your eyelashes? I lost mine after each of my (sadly many) rhinoplasties from swelling, and I grew them back with castor oil
I only buy lipstick in the mini kits these days. I know mini size costs more, but I know I never finish using a lipstick because I normally don’t wear it. I love tiny cute mini lipstick though. It’s almost like a Barbie toy lol.
Caitlin I am always always looking forward to your videos so so so much and your videos are really really so so helpful to me you are my inspiration and I wish you have a wonderful day always💖💫🙂
I’m a big fan of beauty devices and LED lights. The one rule with all of them is they “Must be used Regularly”. I used Revitalash too and agree it worked, but stop using it as I believe it made my lash line red and then medical info started coming out about it. It’s annoying because I still have a full tube of it 👀
Regarding lash serums I’ve had the same issue. I’m only in my early 20s and thought it was the signs of aging where I constantly looked so tired😅 So glad you’ve picked up on this and I will stop using asap! How long did it take for your eyes to go back to normal?🤷♀️
Caitlin, I was told by my Benefit brow bar beauty expert castor oil is great for your eyebrows and eyelashes. It will thicken your brows and lengthen your eyelashes.
Same with contouring. We don’t all have the same features. Been wanting an led mask but I have skincare tools that are plenty for me to use. They also take time to utilize. So telling myself “no!” Wow on the eye lash serum 😮 I’m kind of scared of them. Now, definitely a “no!” Thanks for sharing!
I find many commmon points with you that makes me coming back to your vid every now and then 😂 I used to be buying lux like crazy in my 20s but now I hv almost stopped lux shopping with the economy and the drop of quality and service~ also the same at one point of my life I owned over 50 lipstick (all end up expired or melt really ugly) now wind down to around 10 (but actually I just use two) and same about the less makeup part 😂❤
I used Bimatoprost as well, since a dermatologist influencer said it’s the only thing that works, the vid was uploaded a few years ago. I did my research and she fully informed about risks as well. It ended up being to tedious for me and I kept poking my eye with the applicator. Thankfully never got any side effects
Hi Caitlin, so when it comes to makeup and lipsticks, oh boy i was on that crazy train, chasing the next best thing😳🤪😂 but this year, i am so proud of myself, i evaluated what aesthetics i like, and bought only a few items. It had to be something super unique, that i would buy. like Prada just released eyeshadows no fall out, lasts all day 🤪😂😜 yes i bought it, but Chanel new collection just released and i dont care🤪. No trends do i get sometimes influenced , but only what i really like, and i know that could look good on me. Hair products thats another trap, i get fallen sometimes😂 Devices not so much. Lashes on boy, i damaged them by having eyelash extensions, for over 5 years😫 so much money wasted and nothing to show for it. Serums i tried only few. Should never done it. Have super sensitive eyes, so both times eyes got swollen badly 😂 Have a blessed day🙏❤️
I am very careful product recommendation specially skincare products (I do not wear make up)... As you said, each skin is unique :-) I did get the mask LED but i did lot of research before the purchase.

As soon as I stopped following makeup gurus my makeup spending went way down 😂 I buy enough as it is, but I knew I was bad when I needed to buy a storage unit with 5 drawers to fit it all…
Omg 100 lipsticks 😅😅 I wear two colors: raspberry and deep red. I have these 2 colors from a couple of brands because it took me a while to find the perfect product. Plus I have the TOM Ford soleil lip blush (which is shit BTW) So maybe I have 9 in total?
I just discovered your channel. I do feel overwhelmed with the process of all beauty equipments just like what you mentioned. I love colors and lipsticks are certainly my guilty pleasure 😅😅😅 they do have expiry date we need to be extra careful. After all, we got only one pair of eyes and ε and basically one face to paint this canvas. By the way, you remind me of Cara Delevinge 🥰🥰🥰
lipsticks ads are soooo deceiving! I'm embarrassed to admit i thought my lips would somehow look like the Charlotte tilbury ads by buying her lipstick lol. Spoiler alert - they didn't!
I used it and my eyelashes got really long (especially when paired with lash lift and tint), I didn't need mascara. BUT, I ended up with the dreaded dark line, it looked like I constantly had dark reddish eyeliner. I never noticed because the lashes were so long until my beauty therapist sent me the before & after of a facial treatment and I saw in the photo just how bad it is. I at first thought I was allergic to something so after taking out different things in my regimen, I realised it's the lash serum. It took probably around 3-4 months for it to start going down after I binned it + I used an eye cream religiously. I emailed the company about this and they just sent me a generic instruction on how to ensure I use it correctly, Lol.
@@Anete-Lusina omg I have that reddish line along my lashes as well, like you said reddish eyeliner. I better stop using it and see how it goes. Did the red line go away after you stopped using it? Thanks for your reply.
I use Flash Lash and have never had any of the problems you mentioned. However I’ve just discovered Lash Illusion serum (Australian) which is supposed to be all natural and safe with no nasties. I will be trying that next.

Latisse and lash serums are no joke. Not a one of them doesn’t have serious risks.
@@LotusesGalaxyOcean You're right! I stay away from them altogether now. It's not worth the risks.
