Son of Judah Gohan was never a fighter, picaloo kidnapped Gohan and forced him to fight. he felt obligated to go to namek, he was basically forced to fight cell, buu killed his family.

Hit kills Goku, Vegeta beat up Gohan, that he couldn't do shit, he starts training with him, they go after hit and super dragon balls to wish for a revival of Goku. Meanwhile Goku will fight against Golden Frieza once again in hell / heaven.
When I first started watching Dragon Ball Z, I had always assumed that the end result would be Gohan as the new "Hero", "Protector", "Guardian", or "Saviour". Something along those lines at any rate. Dragon Ball was Goku's story. The story of a boy who grew up not knowing who he was or what he wanted out of life. He made friends and he made enemies, but ultimately it was the thrill of battle that kept him going. Each fight he'd find a way to surpass his limits and save the day. He did it over and over again. Then comes Dragon Ball Z and we're given Gohan. A kid, who much like Goku, didn't know what he wanted to do in life. His mom wanted him to be a scholar and his dad wanted him to be a fighter. He was never really given a chance to do anything else really. He was forced to study by his mom every waking moment of his day. He was forced into fights that he didn't have any business being in. Throughout all of that though, we're given glimpses of something special. Something that no one else has but him. He has this power in him that could potentially make him the strongest fighter alive, but he doesn't want to use it if he doesn't have to. The entire series starts with Gohan being kidnapped, then he's forced to train because if he doesn't people will die, and he makes his choice. He trains, because if he doesn't then people will suffer for it. I think that's the first time we get to see the type of person Gohan will be. He doesn't fight because he likes to like his father, and he doesn't fight because he wants to be strong like vegeta, no, he fights because he has to in order to protect the people he cares about. That's what made him different. All throughout the series he makes these same choices over and over. He fights because he wants to protect people, even if he may not truly like it. That's the type of Hero I thought Gohan would become, because Dragon Ball Z, in my opinion, was supposed to be Gohan's story much like Dragon Ball was Goku's. Of course, that isn't what we got. Despite what people say, hell, despite what Toriyama himself was quoted saying, I honestly believe that he forced Goku to stay the main Hero because it was an economic move. Goku was Iconic. He was the Superman of Japan. Even if people liked Gohan, no one wants to see an Icon take a backseat. Toriyama might have been afraid his numbers would fall, or maybe he was forced to do it because someone else thought his numbers would fall. Either way, it's obvious the story took a drastic turn somewhere, and while it may still be an enjoyable watch, I think, if they had take a chance on Gohan, that that version of the show might have been cool too.

After the fight with Cell, Goku was supposed to remain dead and Gohan was going to be the Earth's sole protector along with Vegeta. Toriyama tried to make Gohan the main character again by making Mystic Gohan, who was supposed to be the trump card against Majin Buu

I have to say that i am disappointed because we never got to see Gohan's True power in DBZ. He was trained by the Supreme Kai, when he powered up, he was at a power level beyond ssj3 without even tapping into ssj1. We see him slapping Margin Boo around for a good 10-20 mins and then Boo gets the best of him by absorbing him? so we needed to get Goku and Vegita to come back from the dead to defeat Marjin Boo? I mean the hole plot was so off and so disappointing. Even if they wanted to keep Goku as the main Protagonist for sails purpose. That was a BIG mistake, reason enough to drop the development as it did happen. At least we got Toriyama to finish it. I hope we get to see what there is to be seen.
Well I mean, the first chapter opens up with Goku simply hunting and gathering to survive. He didn't even know he was a human (much less a saiyan), nor that other humans besides him and Gohan Sr. existed. He only received formal training when he first met Roshi. He was actually content with staying in his little home forever, had it not been for bulma finding him he'd have probably stayed there until now.
Gohan is definitely making a comeback with the foreshadowing that he has had previously. When he almost died against Frieza and when he learnt about Future Trunks suffering, it seemed like the writers were hinting Gohan would train again. In Super, everything they show us is foreshadowing for something to come. Other examples of foreshadowing of the top of my head is when Whis mentioned being able to rewind time before it was relevant, Supreme Kai and Kibito unfusing hinting that Vegito could come back and unfuse (they may have changed the story so they wouldnt need the Super Dragon Balls), Goku receiving the Zeno button. Spoilers for the next possible arc: Hit is after Goku because someone from universe 6 wants him dead. One of the episode titles says Goku dies. What if Goku does in fact die? Remember Gohan fights for the ones he loves. Goku being murdered by an assassin might be the final push for Gohan to return to greatness. These are just my thoughts and it's ok if you disagree with my points.
Cho Lin ikr dude gohan's foreshadowing of him coming back isn't hard to spot I've mentioned his foreshadowing ever since the start of the Future trunks arc and ppl that said vegito wasn't coming back were also so wrong since there was tons of foreshadowing for him
Cho Lin Gohan's always had the greatest potential as he is a mixture of the ferocity and strength of the Saiyans, and the resolve to protect those he holds dear and the will to do whatever it takes to keep them safe from his human side. Gohan in SSJ2 was so strong that Goku and Vegeta had to train for 3 YEARS just to match the strength he killed Cell with.
But the potential he holds is still far greater than Goku or Vegeta. Remember Trunks? Yeah, his power level literally BLUE up. So... why wouldn't Gohan have the same potential!?
How2Helper2015 Trunks also kept fighting and training and even before his insane power up he was stronger than Gohan. Potential means nothing unless they make use of it. Gohan's potential was unlocked in the Buu Saga. That potential at this point in time is considered weak. He'd need special training with god ki to be made relevant. Trunks' new form has some form of god ki in it. People keep throwing "but his potential" around, but it's nothing more than a plot device to MAYBE, SOMEDAY possibly make him relevant again. TOEI threw Gohan fans a bone with the whole training thing at the end of RoF, but unless Toriyama decides he wants to do something with Gohan he'll forever remain as he is now...Which honestly he's happy. I can think of many worse fates than Gohan's.
***** I'm fairly certain Gohan is going to become great again, because these small training scenes of his don't just mean nothing. Back in DBZ, Gohan had small outbursts of power, foreshadowing his rise vs. Cell. Similarly, Gohan has his small clips of realization, training, and hope that are POSSIBLY foreshadowing his rise yet again. I mean, they're not pointless! These scenes serve a purpose!
i think the biggest giveaway that he was training wasnt the sweat but his hair and the fact he wasn't wearing glasses, also that Piccolo was behind him. If he was just rushing to say farewell to Trunks and not training he would of been wearing glasses and his hair would be straight with none over his face. I also think they just didnt want it to be a total giveaway so they had him in his regular civilian clothing, not his gi. Really hope we see mystic god gohan. would be a dream come true. at this point i dont see how they wont involve gohan after all thats happened
You made a lot of good points regarding the fan service surrounding DBZ and super. There are a TON of Gohan fans and as nothing is very hard to find out on there internet, I'm sure the writers already have something in the works. Also, your Trunks learning mafuba from "basically a RUclips video" comment was spot on.
They got 3 sets of Dragon Balls. Earth, Namek, and Super Dragon Balls. They can die as many times as they need they will always be revived. Everyone in DBS is immortal, except the villains.

Gohan doesn't like to fight like Goku and Vegeta. As in, he doesn't fight out of enjoyment or wanting to get stronger personally. Gohan fights to protect his loved ones and trains to keep them safe. Like Future Trunks, he would rather fight and destroy the enemy rather than fight and spare them. Though Gohan in particular is a curious case when he transforms, as a Super Saiyan 2 he became sadistic and opted to torture Cell before killing him. Even as he got older, when he became a Super Saiyan 2 when he was up against Kibito at the world tournament he went from hesitant to being eager to beat him up. And of course with Buu, he didn't want to fight Buu, he wanted to kill him. Yet ended up torturing him a bit and getting cocky. I feel like deep down the reason Gohan doesn't like to fight is because he knows once transformed his aggressive Saiyan instincts kick in. And he ends up either fucking up or getting someone killed.
the younger fans are too fast to judge, Dragonball is not about speedy episodes and speedy events. The build up along side the goofyness makes Dragonball great. Not to get specific characters up to speed asap just because you love them. I think Gohan will get his moment and perhaps even sooner then we may think. With the episode where Goku gets killed (just a few episodes away in fact) it just as well could mean that Gohan will get his rage power up for example or even manage to get a new level of his own. We just can not claim that he is done for as proper Dragonball character, I was saying this from the first episode when people were screaming like little babies and I keep repeating it. Gohan will return, just give it time. I'm pretty sure there is a story in mind to make him again one of the most powerful characters in the series. For how long DBS is going to play, I have a feeling we may see as many episodes as DBZ if not more. The fan base is huge, which means it is highly unlikely that they would kill off the series if they plan on cashing in. Which is likely to happen since they keep trying to cash in on the series since DBZ stopped. Remember DBGT? The video games that followed? It is all marketing to milk the series out as much as they can. I have a feeling that it will have about 300 episodes at least. Do remember that Toriyama loves his own series, I can't imagine that he would kill it off that easily. I however will add the next thing, I have a feeling that Future Trunks and Future Mai will return pretty quickly. Which could even be within the next 10 episodes. Remember that they have no real place to call home anymore. Their planet was destroyed by the Omni King along with the rest of their universe. A fusion between Future Trunks and Gohan may even be realistic as idea.
I think Picollo is definitely training Gohan and that was kind of a hint to us to show that, yes Gohan will be the fighter that we all loved. I think he will gain the ki of God but of course not be able to go full power of God. (I don't know if you've talked about it or even though of it but I think both Trunks and Gohan won't be able to go full Blue because they are part Human) I also think Gohan will go back to Mystic when he learns the God Ki Power. Just before the tournament which involves all the Universes, Goku will be training Gohan in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to get him to that level. Those are my thoughts anyway.

I think we'll see Gohan kick butt in the next Universal tourement, Buu I think won't be appearing because their likely to have a writen test to ensure the contenders are up to scratch in terms of brain power, so Gohan would take his place upon the team. His reason for entering would be to simply to see how far he has come in his training, win or loose, yet the real question is, when do we see Goten do some growing and fighting without Trunks? I think Goten has become the most overlooked charater of late.
Dan H That's part of the reason he become rather overlooked in the resent Future Trunks arc, he had just a small scene where the younger Trunks wants to travel to the future with him and try and defeat Goku Black and Zamasu. I hope he gets a role at some point but then again DB has a bad habbit of sidelining charaters may of whom were great at one time.
superomegaprimemk2 yeah there is a lot of good characters in Db that have been overlooked imo or just haven't had enough screen time, I think the problem is theres just not much place to fit them in the story outside of filler. Even Gohan's training is technically filler. AT has designed so many iconic characters that I think ultimately need there own show or something.

the best thing about Gohan. Piccolo said during the Cell games. Gohan isn't like Goku or Vegeta, battle-hungry warriors. He's a peaceful boy but when push come to shove and he gives even a half fuck about fighting, his potential will blew Goku and Vegeta away.

So I have this theory, and although it may be a stretch I can see it happening. So most of us know by now that the next arc is an assassination on Goku, I think that Gohan is someway or another is going to attempt to stop the assassin and get beaten effortlessly leading to Goku being killed, now this will spark a rage in Gohan leading him to train harder, but not with Piccolo instead he is going to go to Whis and Beerus for training. And yea that's about all I have, feel free to give any feedback though!
I thought of this as soon as I saw the ending to the ep and the next arc. Note the following is just my wishful thinking as a Gohan fan. Goku gets assassinated and somehow Gohan has to be a witness or partially at fault. Gohan is depressed about the situation. Vegeta seeing him like that reminds him who killed cell and how ruthless Gohan can be if he puts his mind to it (subtly suggesting Gohan has more potential than Goku and himself). Gohan then enters the time chamber by himself to force himself to remember his dad everyday with the sole purpose of getting stronger than he's ever been. When he gets out he challenges Vegeta to test how strong he is and Whis senses the fight taking place, curious he teleports to earth to find Gohan defeated but Vegeta isn't untouched. Whis offers training before the universal tournament and BAM we finally have Gohan in the spot light again.

I think when Gohan realized what was going on, and how helpless he seemed when they came back to regroup and learn the mafuba, he made the decision to come out of retirement...seeing that he was obviously whooped when he faced Frieza's force. Gohan definitely needs to get back on the game, because just like when he beat perfect cell, he can do it again...I think him watching future trunks and Vegeta train, definitely gave the idea that they may just revisit the same kind of relationship between Goku and Gohan... Gohan looked like him and Piccolo were in the hyperbolic chamber playing catch up... :-) Gohan needs to get back on the scene...maybe make an appearance in the next series.
Reasons for Gohans comeback: He asked Piccolo to train him after the Resurrection F arc. He wanted to compete in the universe 6v7 tournament but "couldn't" due to obligations. He realized Future Trunks didn't ask for his help and that really got to him. He was clearly training with Piccolo at the end of the Future Trunks arc when he came to say bye to Trunks. Now how strong will he get? We've seen the bs in Super where Future Trunks gets angry and suddenly can compete with God Goku and Vegeta and Black...like that shit made no sense. His Super Sayin aura had like a hint of God ki. That was never explained.Trunks couldn't even handle a super sayin 3 Goku. So Gohans probably gonna have to learn super Sayin Blue at one point but he is training with Piccolo so he can only get back to what he was pre super. Not to mention the Time Chamber was destroyed by Vegeta.
toriyama had revealed in an interview that he had originally desired gohan to beat majin buu but had changed his mind because gohan's personality was so nice that he would have to make gohan break character in order to finish off buu. toriyama also said that he had originally wanted to make them super sayajin white but settled for blue instead. he did remark that he still intends to make a super sayajin white and a popular fan theory is that gohan will end up going rage mode and transforming from blue to white. toriyama also still wants gohan to pick up the torch and become the new protector of earth. he also said that goku and vegita will not surpass beerus in power but he plans for someone to do so. popular fan theory is that gohan will be the one to surpass god of destruction beerus in power.
I would consider it foolishness to discount Gohan in any fashion. We witnessed in the Resurrection of F arc that Gohan is still even in his current atrophied state comparable to Piccolo (if not a bit stronger). Piccolo, whom we've all estimated to be currently around Super Perfect Cell in strength. That's still stronger than Gohan was when he fought Dabura. As Vegeta then had commented that he was weaker than than when he fought Cell. So what we're seeing with Gohan's character is a sort of stair-step escalation to his power gain. He takes three steps forward, but then gets lazy and falls two steps back. Which means he still progresses that one step, but his power gain seems to wax and wane (and notably takes forever). I think that's a fair analogy.
Goy Ishah It makes me wonder if Gohan will ever reach SSJ blue or beyond. In the most recent episode Trunks envisioned Gohan in the future with his scar and one arm, which means to me that he never surpassed SSJ 2 in that time period. Who knows...
I think one of the people in the comment section mentioned something about Gohan accessing Mystic form again during god training and acquiring Super Saiyan White.
He wasn't tired from training. He was tired from flying there, almost not making it in time to say goodbye. Gohan won dudes. He got the happy ending. He has an SO, a child, and grandpa-Piccolo heavily involved in helping raise his daughter. I say let the character have a happy ending.
Piccolo is like a full time nanny. He is either with gohan or watching Pan. Also he stoped training when he was going to get that professor job and not once have we seen anything to say he still training. everything has shown him being a family man. Trunks was so happy to see Gohan living his dream and then Gohan say' "be well"....No declaration of be stronger but a declaration of to live happy cause now he has a new world and peacs

Great video nanogenix, when I saw gohan sweating I thought that was caused by him flying up into the air to say goodbye to trunks. I thought maybe flying was taking its toll on him. We didn't see gohan using his butt kicking clothes.

Hello Nano... I just subscribed to you channel after watching this Gohan episode of DBS. I have been watching all of DBS anime plus also reading the manga and I love it (Oh by the way I'm a huge DBZ fan and Gohan fan since the very begginning). DBZ is my favorite anime and I have lots of favorite animes but DB is #1. Anyways I wanted to elaborate on episode 67 of DBS which was awesome by the way and I love Future Trunks but when he say my boi Gohan at the end and Piccolo that scene was so emotional and awesome. Gohan did look like he was trainning and that was my first thought that came to my mind but also people should realize and thing that maybe just maybe Piccolo went to pick up Gohan from a meeting that he might have forgotten about Trunks returning back to his timeline and never coming back (depends on Toriyama if he lets that happen on not making another Future Trunks return and he is a father himself this time and Mai is the mother and which makes Vegeta and Bulma grandparents like Goku and Chichi are since Gohan is married to Videl and they have Pan.) So then Gohan goes with Piccolo in a hurry and since he hasn't been keeping up with his skills like Goku and Vegeta and Piccolo then he couldn't keep up with Piccolo and thus you see him with sweat and out of breath. Now people don't kill me on that theory because again I'm with you all on hoping it was Gohan trainning and coming back to his awesome kick ass self again but Toriyama likes to keep us on our edge of our seats so it's a little observation from me. id prefer white. if were going on colour theory, yellow (ssj) is represented as energy which at the time signified an incredible power boost. red (ssg) according to toriama 'red hair looks strong' blue (ssgss) is the idea of tranquillity that goku and vegeta mastered their ki control and was able to go further. green is a bad choice as its usually associated with jealousy greed and ambition, something gohan is far from as a character. white makes sense as it is the idea of purity and perfection, something fitting of the strongest sayan god form.* *if the next transformation will be the last that is
Heres my theory, If Gohan is going to make a comeback, its going to have to involve Pan. The intro to DBS also shows Goku, Goten and Gohan powering up so there must be some arc incoming that involves all 3 of them. I got a feeling Hit is going to kidnap Pan to force Goku to not run away and fight till he dies.

just because gohan was sweating doesn't actually means that he was training with picolo. maybe he was trying to reach trunks before he left and used must of his power to fly fast and get there on time. on another note....in my opinion the best gohan was the one that fought BOJACK.
I'm not going to lie. That ending with Gohan, and Trunks, reinforced that, Gohan will always be my favorite character. First emotional scene for me in Super. I'm really hopeful for Gohan to come back. I fell in love with his Character for his personality of being a Protector, and being ridiculously powerful. Gohan was determined at 5 to go to Namek to revive Piccolo, and always wanted to protect the ones he love.
Actually it might make sense for Gohan to go super saiyen Rose, I mean if the Ki of Mystic Gohan is similar to that of a god of creation then learning to combine that Ki with that of a Super Saiyen should do something similar to what happened when Goku Black tried to go Super Saiyen.
...The Ki signature of Mystic gohan is the same as the ki he had during the Cell arc. Elder Kai only unleashed his potential, not change his ki signature to that of a Kaioshin in a Saiyan's body. No Rose for U!!!
i think it is plausible if Goku does indeed die by the hands of Hit. They were definitely hinting at it, he looked completely different, his hair was going back to the mystic Gohan look.
I don't wanna see just one character be way stronger I think Gohan should get back his mystic form and fuse his mystic with God ki and have his own kinda transformation like mystic god Gohan or something that would be on par or slightly stronger or weaker than Goku and Vegeta so when the next villain comes it won't just be one guy doing all the work it would make it possible that any of the 3 of them could eat the new villain kinda like the last arch goku and Vegeta and trunks all had there moments so I would love Gohan to get around there strength with his own mystic god transformation or something like that they could also have Gotenks get stronger so we would have 4 viable heros that could beat the new villain or at least help on a way that allows one of the others to take out a new villain so basically yes want him to get stronger but he does not have to be the center the strongest he just needs to be close on strength to goku and Vegeta

saiyan's mixed with humans have more potential than regular saiyans Hint trunks being able to preform false transformations and gohan being able to extend his base form. there is no telling what goten will be able to do when he's older.
Have you guys even watched super? He really wanted to fight at the universe 6 and 7 fight contest. He has gone out of his way to train with Piccolo. He is keen on fighting. It is silly to think he hates it. He might not love it like Goku does, but he clearly sees it as his duty and that it is noble and good. He became Saiyaman when there was no reason for him to do so. He did it because he couldn't keep from fighting despite it potentially damaging his school life. He clearly doesn't hate fighting.
So here's a theory or thought what if back in Z when the supreme Kai unlocked Gohans mystic form. The Kai could have tapped into a form of god ki that he bestowed on gohan to unlock his full potential, but in actuality he was tapping into a doppleganger of gohan. This copy of gohan is the god of destruction from a different universe he should look like a super saiyan 4 gohan lol. The god also could be like sleeping kinda like Beerus did, then he wakes up feeling not as powerful as he did and wants to find the reasoning behind it that or whatever the case is. This is a way to bring back Gohan!!

Super has been satisfying fans with stuff like the return of Kaioken, Future Trunks, and Vegito that I don't have a doubt in my mind that Gohan will get his shine!
Because Gohan is blessed with the Mystic powers, it may be plausible that IF and I stress this, IF he DOES learn GOD BLUE? It won't be blue... It'll be Rose.
I also think eventually, Goku and Vegeta learn the actual Fusion dance as a challenge to take on another group the fuses in the Inter-Universal Tournament sanctioned by ZENO themselves (Now that there's two of them).
Either way would be interesting. I'm just thinking that since he's blessed with the mysticism of the Kai's and the spirit of the Kai is what was in Goku's body to make Black? That's why it'd be Rose instead of Blue. That was my thought process on that. Because maybe he is to become a Kai himself at some point? Maybe.

So there might be a chance Gohan has already gained alot of power back (but of course still probably not enough).
As much as I would love Gohan coming back, I believe he was sweating because he was in a hurry trying to get back to say goodbye to Trunks. His sweating is a result of a lack of training and just trying to fly as fast as possible broke him into a sweat. He knows how much Trunks looked up to the future version of him, so he made it a point to push himself to say bye. Why would he be wearing regular clothing if he was training? He would be wearing his tracksuit or maybe a part of his Saiyaman outfit.

I dunno. I thought the point he showed up sweating right when trunks was about to teleport away was to show he knew trunks would be leaving soon and wanted to at least wish him well. Makes more sense to me that he showed up in his regular clothes and at the very last second.
If the titles to the future episodes hold true to what rhymestyle was talking about a few days ago, then they may need Gohan to be able to hold his own again. Dragonball has always done a good job in leaving things open to where other people have to handle some business because goku isn't always available to do so. If he was, then the series would be broken and it wouldn't be nearly as interesting. I absolutely think Gohan will make a comeback because he's probably gonna be needed sooner rather than later
Gohan is my favorite character, and I've noticed that he only fights to his full potential when he has something in dire need of fighting for. The Perfect Cell fight and Super Buu fight are clear indications of this. His studying is obviously what got in the way of his training, and with the rise of Goku and Vegeta's power level, he has lost that "need" to be a better fighter. However, I think with Videl and Pam having just been born, Gohan's going to make an incredible return. I mean the evidence lines up. He has something to fight for, and he says so in an earlier episode, I believe in the episode 40s. As for him achieving SSGSS, I wouldn't bet on it, but I wouldn't be surprised because he did surpass Goku in the Cell Saga.
just a thought, when goku was trying to find team members for the tournament against bills's brother vegeta comments to goku that gohan has the most latent potential of all of them and it was around that time gohan was training again and couldnt go because of a conference for work. i think it is pretty safe to say gohan will be redeemed.
Right on, my thoughts exactly. I don't think Toriyama has any intent to make Gohan a fighter and hero again, that last scene probably involved Piccolo flying over to Gohan's home to fill him in on how the future Trunks ark unfolded and that Trunks was departing to a different timeline. Him sweating was probably due to rushing over to say goodbye, probably hasn't flown that fast since Videl had Pan.

I would love to see Gohan make a comeback. He was my favorite character growing up starting from hurting raditz to beating up frieza, destroying cell and kicking boos ass in mystic form. GT made him not so likable. SO YES!! GOHAN NEEDS TO COME BACK !!! SOMETHING UNIQUE TO HIS CHARACTER MYSTIC GOD MODE or something Goku and vegeta would still have years of experiance on him making him years behind compared to their progress but he would gain fast progress
I have a feeling he will come back, too. The face he gave to trunks wasn't just a goodbye face. It seemed like one showing promise to Trunks. A promise that he will get stronger and fill the role his future self did. Also the fact he was with Piccolo and his general appearance.
There is also the moment where Bulma was explaining to Chi Chi about what had been happening in the future, and Gohan had a flashback to the dinner they had with Trunks. You could tell he was thinking about how clueless and far removed from that world he is now
Another thing to keep in mind is just how intelligent Gohan is. Even though Chi-Chi pushed him into it, Gohan opted to become an intellectual/academic as he grew older. He was able to use his smarts to cope with interstellar monsters from an early age. Maybe _that'll_ be his edge over most characters.

I REALLY want Gohan to make a comeback, maybe something like Goku and Vegeta are stuck in another Universe and Earth gets attacked and Gohan has to watch someone hurt his friends again...AND HE GOES NUTS AND TRANSFORMS INTO SS4 LOLOLOL. Seriously though, you mentioned Gohan maybe doing a new transformation (and I know its not going to happen) but it would be awesome if Toriyama would surprise the fans and make a Super Saiyen 4 Gohan...BeastMode. It would kind of make sense because Gohan always channeled his passion and anger into his ki, and the SS4 transformation was supposed to represent a Saiyens inner power, instinct, and animalistic nature and so it kind of makes sense that Gohan could channel that transformation given the right circumstances. I've always been a huge Gohan fan and I thought the teen Gohan vs Cell was one of the best DBZ moments too, especially the father/son kamehameha and I would be really excited to see a SS4 Gohan, that would be dope. Both toei and toyotaro(the guy who writes the manga)follow a basic script written by toriyama and fill in the rest in their own way.So both the anime and manga tell the same story but with different ways.Meaning that no matter how different they cannot derail from toriyama's script.So if toriyama's script says gohan is gonna be inactive as a fighter,no matter how much toei teases gohan's fans he won't play any major role outside of fillers. Let me give you an example,anime has goku using kaioken super saiyan blue against hit but manga has goku using super saiyan god(red hair form)and then super saiyan blue against him,hit still fights goku evenly no matter how much goku powers up(while holding back on using his techniques)and goku surrenders in the end.As you can see,in which form goku fights hit differs from one another but the end result is the same in both cases.

The ending with trunks looking at trunks all sweaty after training is a clear foreshadow that he will become a relevant fighter again
When I first started watching Dragon Ball Z, I had always assumed that the end result would be Gohan as the new "Hero", "Protector", "Guardian", or "Saviour". Something along those lines at any rate. Dragon Ball was Goku's story. The story of a boy who grew up not knowing who he was or what he wanted out of life. He made friends and he made enemies, but ultimately it was the thrill of battle that kept him going. Each fight he'd find a way to surpass his limits and save the day. He did it over and over again. Then comes Dragon Ball Z and we're given Gohan. A kid, who much like Goku, didn't know what he wanted to do in life. His mom wanted him to be a scholar and his dad wanted him to be a fighter. He was never really given a chance to do anything else really. He was forced to study by his mom every waking moment of his day. He was forced into fights that he didn't have any business being in. Throughout all of that though, we're given glimpses of something special. Something that no one else has but him. He has this power in him that could potentially make him the strongest fighter alive, but he doesn't want to use it if he doesn't have to. The entire series starts with Gohan being kidnapped, then he's forced to train because if he doesn't people will die, and he makes his choice. He trains, because if he doesn't then people will suffer for it. I think that's the first time we get to see the type of person Gohan will be. He doesn't fight because he likes to like his father, and he doesn't fight because he wants to be strong like vegeta, no, he fights because he has to in order to protect the people he cares about. That's what made him different. All throughout the series he makes these same choices over and over. He fights because he wants to protect people, even if he may not truly like it. That's the type of Hero I thought Gohan would become, because Dragon Ball Z, in my opinion, was supposed to be Gohan's story much like Dragon Ball was Goku's.
Of course, that isn't what we got. Despite what people say, hell, despite what Toriyama himself was quoted saying, I honestly believe that he forced Goku to stay the main Hero because it was an economic move. Goku was Iconic. He was the Superman of Japan. Even if people liked Gohan, no one wants to see an Icon take a backseat. Toriyama might have been afraid his numbers would fall, or maybe he was forced to do it because someone else thought his numbers would fall. Either way, it's obvious the story took a drastic turn somewhere, and while it may still be an enjoyable watch, I think, if they had take a chance on Gohan, that that version of the show might have been cool too.

After the fight with Cell, Goku was supposed to remain dead and Gohan was going to be the Earth's sole protector along with Vegeta. Toriyama tried to make Gohan the main character again by making Mystic Gohan, who was supposed to be the trump card against Majin Buu

I have to say that i am disappointed because we never got to see Gohan's True power in DBZ. He was trained by the Supreme Kai, when he powered up, he was at a power level beyond ssj3 without even tapping into ssj1. We see him slapping Margin Boo around for a good 10-20 mins and then Boo gets the best of him by absorbing him? so we needed to get Goku and Vegita to come back from the dead to defeat Marjin Boo? I mean the hole plot was so off and so disappointing. Even if they wanted to keep Goku as the main Protagonist for sails purpose. That was a BIG mistake, reason enough to drop the development as it did happen. At least we got Toriyama to finish it. I hope we get to see what there is to be seen.
Well I mean, the first chapter opens up with Goku simply hunting and gathering to survive. He didn't even know he was a human (much less a saiyan), nor that other humans besides him and Gohan Sr. existed. He only received formal training when he first met Roshi. He was actually content with staying in his little home forever, had it not been for bulma finding him he'd have probably stayed there until now.

Gohan is definitely making a comeback with the foreshadowing that he has had previously. When he almost died against Frieza and when he learnt about Future Trunks suffering, it seemed like the writers were hinting Gohan would train again. In Super, everything they show us is foreshadowing for something to come.
Other examples of foreshadowing of the top of my head is when Whis mentioned being able to rewind time before it was relevant, Supreme Kai and Kibito unfusing hinting that Vegito could come back and unfuse (they may have changed the story so they wouldnt need the Super Dragon Balls), Goku receiving the Zeno button.
Spoilers for the next possible arc:
Hit is after Goku because someone from universe 6 wants him dead. One of the episode titles says Goku dies. What if Goku does in fact die? Remember Gohan fights for the ones he loves. Goku being murdered by an assassin might be the final push for Gohan to return to greatness.
These are just my thoughts and it's ok if you disagree with my points.
There's also a foreshadowing where Vegeta mentioned that Gohan 'has more potential than either of us'.

Cho Lin Gohan's always had the greatest potential as he is a mixture of the ferocity and strength of the Saiyans, and the resolve to protect those he holds dear and the will to do whatever it takes to keep them safe from his human side. Gohan in SSJ2 was so strong that Goku and Vegeta had to train for 3 YEARS just to match the strength he killed Cell with.

How2Helper2015 Trunks also kept fighting and training and even before his insane power up he was stronger than Gohan. Potential means nothing unless they make use of it. Gohan's potential was unlocked in the Buu Saga. That potential at this point in time is considered weak. He'd need special training with god ki to be made relevant. Trunks' new form has some form of god ki in it.
People keep throwing "but his potential" around, but it's nothing more than a plot device to MAYBE, SOMEDAY possibly make him relevant again. TOEI threw Gohan fans a bone with the whole training thing at the end of RoF, but unless Toriyama decides he wants to do something with Gohan he'll forever remain as he is now...Which honestly he's happy. I can think of many worse fates than Gohan's.

i think the biggest giveaway that he was training wasnt the sweat but his hair and the fact he wasn't wearing glasses, also that Piccolo was behind him. If he was just rushing to say farewell to Trunks and not training he would of been wearing glasses and his hair would be straight with none over his face. I also think they just didnt want it to be a total giveaway so they had him in his regular civilian clothing, not his gi. Really hope we see mystic god gohan. would be a dream come true. at this point i dont see how they wont involve gohan after all thats happened
You made a lot of good points regarding the fan service surrounding DBZ and super. There are a TON of Gohan fans and as nothing is very hard to find out on there internet, I'm sure the writers already have something in the works. Gohan doesn't like to fight like Goku and Vegeta. As in, he doesn't fight out of enjoyment or wanting to get stronger personally. Gohan fights to protect his loved ones and trains to keep them safe. Like Future Trunks, he would rather fight and destroy the enemy rather than fight and spare them.
Though Gohan in particular is a curious case when he transforms, as a Super Saiyan 2 he became sadistic and opted to torture Cell before killing him. Even as he got older, when he became a Super Saiyan 2 when he was up against Kibito at the world tournament he went from hesitant to being eager to beat him up. And of course with Buu, he didn't want to fight Buu, he wanted to kill him. Yet ended up torturing him a bit and getting cocky.
I feel like deep down the reason Gohan doesn't like to fight is because he knows once transformed his aggressive Saiyan instincts kick in. And he ends up either fucking up or getting someone killed.
the younger fans are too fast to judge, Dragonball is not about speedy episodes and speedy events. The build up along side the goofyness makes Dragonball great. Not to get specific characters up to speed asap just because you love them.
I think Gohan will get his moment and perhaps even sooner then we may think. With the episode where Goku gets killed (just a few episodes away in fact) it just as well could mean that Gohan will get his rage power up for example or even manage to get a new level of his own. We just can not claim that he is done for as proper Dragonball character, I was saying this from the first episode when people were screaming like little babies and I keep repeating it. Gohan will return, just give it time. I'm pretty sure there is a story in mind to make him again one of the most powerful characters in the series.
For how long DBS is going to play, I have a feeling we may see as many episodes as DBZ if not more. The fan base is huge, which means it is highly unlikely that they would kill off the series if they plan on cashing in. Which is likely to happen since they keep trying to cash in on the series since DBZ stopped. Remember DBGT? The video games that followed? It is all marketing to milk the series out as much as they can. I have a feeling that it will have about 300 episodes at least. Do remember that Toriyama loves his own series, I can't imagine that he would kill it off that easily.
I however will add the next thing, I have a feeling that Future Trunks and Future Mai will return pretty quickly. Which could even be within the next 10 episodes. Remember that they have no real place to call home anymore. Their planet was destroyed by the Omni King along with the rest of their universe. A fusion between Future Trunks and Gohan may even be realistic as idea.

I think Picollo is definitely training Gohan and that was kind of a hint to us to show that, yes Gohan will be the fighter that we all loved. I think he will gain the ki of God but of course not be able to go full power of God.

I think we'll see Gohan kick butt in the next Universal tourement, Buu I think won't be appearing because their likely to have a writen test to ensure the contenders are up to scratch in terms of brain power, so Gohan would take his place upon the team. His reason for entering would be to simply to see how far he has come in his training, win or loose, yet the real question is, when do we see Goten do some growing and fighting without Trunks? I think Goten has become the most overlooked charater of late.

That's part of the reason he become rather overlooked in the resent Future Trunks arc, he had just a small scene where the younger Trunks wants to travel to the future with him and try and defeat Goku Black and Zamasu. I hope he gets a role at some point but then again DB has a bad habbit of sidelining charaters may of whom were great at one time.

Even Gohan's training is technically filler. AT has designed so many iconic characters that I think ultimately need there own show or something.

So I have this theory, and although it may be a stretch I can see it happening. So most of us know by now that the next arc is an assassination on Goku, I think that Gohan is someway or another is going to attempt to stop the assassin and get beaten effortlessly leading to Goku being killed, now this will spark a rage in Gohan leading him to train harder, but not with Piccolo instead he is going to go to Whis and Beerus for training. And yea that's about all I have, feel free to give any feedback though!

I thought of this as soon as I saw the ending to the ep and the next arc. Note the following is just my wishful thinking as a Gohan fan. Goku gets assassinated and somehow Gohan has to be a witness or partially at fault. Gohan is depressed about the situation. Vegeta seeing him like that reminds him who killed cell and how ruthless Gohan can be if he puts his mind to it (subtly suggesting Gohan has more potential than Goku and himself). Gohan then enters the time chamber by himself to force himself to remember his dad everyday with the sole purpose of getting stronger than he's ever been. When he gets out he challenges Vegeta to test how strong he is and Whis senses the fight taking place, curious he teleports to earth to find Gohan defeated but Vegeta isn't untouched. Whis offers training before the universal tournament and BAM we finally have Gohan in the spot light again.

I think when Gohan realized what was going on, and how helpless he seemed when they came back to regroup and learn the mafuba, he made the decision to come out of retirement...seeing that he was obviously whooped when he faced Frieza's force. Gohan definitely needs to get back on the game, because just like when he beat perfect cell, he can do it again...I think him watching future trunks and Vegeta train, definitely gave the idea that they may just revisit the same kind of relationship between Goku and Gohan... Gohan looked like him and Piccolo were in the hyperbolic chamber playing catch up... :-) Gohan needs to get back on the scene...maybe make an appearance in the next series.

Reasons for Gohans comeback: He asked Piccolo to train him after the Resurrection F arc. He wanted to compete in the universe 6v7 tournament but "couldn't" due to obligations. He realized Future Trunks didn't ask for his help and that really got to him. He was clearly training with Piccolo at the end of the Future Trunks arc when he came to say bye to Trunks.
Now how strong will he get? We've seen the bs in Super where Future Trunks gets angry and suddenly can compete with God Goku and Vegeta and Black...like that shit made no sense. His Super Sayin aura had like a hint of God ki. That was never explained.Trunks couldn't even handle a super sayin 3 Goku. So Gohans probably gonna have to learn super Sayin Blue at one point but he is training with Piccolo so he can only get back to what he was pre super. Not to mention the Time Chamber was destroyed by Vegeta.

toriyama had revealed in an interview that he had originally desired gohan to beat majin buu but had changed his mind because gohan's personality was so nice that he would have to make gohan break character in order to finish off buu. toriyama also said that he had originally wanted to make them super sayajin white but settled for blue instead. he did remark that he still intends to make a super sayajin white and a popular fan theory is that gohan will end up going rage mode and transforming from blue to white. toriyama also still wants gohan to pick up the torch and become the new protector of earth. he also said that goku and vegita will not surpass beerus in power but he plans for someone to do so. popular fan theory is that gohan will be the one to surpass god of destruction beerus in power.
I would consider it foolishness to discount Gohan in any fashion. We witnessed in the Resurrection of F arc that Gohan is still even in his current atrophied state comparable to Piccolo (if not a bit stronger). Piccolo, whom we've all estimated to be currently around Super Perfect Cell in strength. That's still stronger than Gohan was when he fought Dabura. As Vegeta then had commented that he was weaker than than when he fought Cell.
So what we're seeing with Gohan's character is a sort of stair-step escalation to his power gain. He takes three steps forward, but then gets lazy and falls two steps back. Which means he still progresses that one step, but his power gain seems to wax and wane (and notably takes forever). I think that's a fair analogy.
Goy Ishah It makes me wonder if Gohan will ever reach SSJ blue or beyond. In the most recent episode Trunks envisioned Gohan in the future with his scar and one arm, which means to me that he never surpassed SSJ 2 in that time period. Who knows...

He wasn't tired from training. He was tired from flying there, almost not making it in time to say goodbye. Gohan won dudes. He got the happy ending. He has an SO, a child, and grandpa-Piccolo heavily involved in helping raise his daughter. I say let the character have a happy ending.

Hello Nano... I just subscribed to you channel after watching this Gohan episode of DBS. I have been watching all of DBS anime plus also reading the manga and I love it (Oh by the way I'm a huge DBZ fan and Gohan fan since the very begginning). DBZ is my favorite anime and I have lots of favorite animes but DB is #1. Anyways I wanted to elaborate on episode 67 of DBS which was awesome by the way and I love Future Trunks but when he say my boi Gohan at the end and Piccolo that scene was so emotional and awesome. Gohan did look like he was trainning and that was my first thought that came to my mind but also people should realize and thing that maybe just maybe Piccolo went to pick up Gohan from a meeting that he might have forgotten about Trunks returning back to his timeline and never coming back (depends on Toriyama if he lets that happen on not making another Future Trunks return and he is a father himself this time and Mai is the mother and which makes Vegeta and Bulma grandparents like Goku and Chichi are since Gohan is married to Videl and they have Pan.) So then Gohan goes with Piccolo in a hurry and since he hasn't been keeping up with his skills like Goku and Vegeta and Piccolo then he couldn't keep up with Piccolo and thus you see him with sweat and out of breath. Now people don't kill me on that theory because again I'm with you all on hoping it was Gohan trainning and coming back to his awesome kick ass self again but Toriyama likes to keep us on our edge of our seats so it's a little observation from me. I'm really hopeful for Gohan to come back. I fell in love with his Character for his personality of being a Protector, and being ridiculously powerful. Gohan was determined at 5 to go to Namek to revive Piccolo, and always wanted to protect the ones he love.
Actually it might make sense for Gohan to go super saiyen Rose, I mean if the Ki of Mystic Gohan is similar to that of a god of creation then learning to combine that Ki with that of a Super Saiyen should do something similar to what happened when Goku Black tried to go Super Saiyen.
...The Ki signature of Mystic gohan is the same as the ki he had during the Cell arc. Elder Kai only unleashed his potential, not change his ki signature to that of a Kaioshin in a Saiyan's body.

i think it is plausible if Goku does indeed die by the hands of Hit. They were definitely hinting at it, he looked completely different, his hair was going back to the mystic Gohan look.
I don't wanna see just one character be way stronger I think Gohan should get back his mystic form and fuse his mystic with God ki and have his own kinda transformation like mystic god Gohan or something that would be on par or slightly stronger or weaker than Goku and Vegeta so when the next villain comes it won't just be one guy doing all the work it would make it possible that any of the 3 of them could eat the new villain kinda like the last arch goku and Vegeta and trunks all had there moments so I would love Gohan to get around there strength with his own mystic god transformation or something like that they could also have Gotenks get stronger so we would have 4 viable heros that could beat the new villain or at least help on a way that allows one of the others to take out a new villain so basically yes want him to get stronger but he does not have to be the center the strongest he just needs to be close on strength to goku and Vegeta

It is silly to think he hates it. He might not love it like Goku does, but he clearly sees it as his duty and that it is noble and good.

So here's a theory or thought what if back in Z when the supreme Kai unlocked Gohans mystic form. The Kai could have tapped into a form of god ki that he bestowed on gohan to unlock his full potential, but in actuality he was tapping into a doppleganger of gohan. This copy of gohan is the god of destruction from a different universe he should look like a super saiyan 4 gohan lol. The god also could be like sleeping kinda like Beerus did, then he wakes up feeling not as powerful as he did and wants to find the reasoning behind it that or whatever the case is.

So there might be a chance Gohan has already gained alot of power back (but of course still probably not enough).
As much as I would love Gohan coming back, I believe he was sweating because he was in a hurry trying to get back to say goodbye to Trunks. His sweating is a result of a lack of training and just trying to fly as fast as possible broke him into a sweat. He knows how much Trunks looked up to the future version of him, so he made it a point to push himself to say bye.

If the titles to the future episodes hold true to what rhymestyle was talking about a few days ago, then they may need Gohan to be able to hold his own again. Dragonball has always done a good job in leaving things open to where other people have to handle some business because goku isn't always available to do so. If he was, then the series would be broken and it wouldn't be nearly as interesting. I absolutely think Gohan will make a comeback because he's probably gonna be needed sooner rather than later
God I hope they make him a badass like ss2 gohan or mystic gohan.
Gohan is my favorite character, and I've noticed that he only fights to his full potential when he has something in dire need of fighting for. The Perfect Cell fight and Super Buu fight are clear indications of this. His studying is obviously what got in the way of his training, and with the rise of Goku and Vegeta's power level, he has lost that "need" to be a better fighter. However, I think with Videl and Pam having just been born, Gohan's going to make an incredible return. I mean the evidence lines up. He has something to fight for, and he says so in an earlier episode, I believe in the episode 40s. As for him achieving SSGSS, I wouldn't bet on it, but I wouldn't be surprised because he did surpass Goku in the Cell Saga.

I don't think Toriyama has any intent to make Gohan a fighter and hero again, that last scene probably involved Piccolo flying over to Gohan's home to fill him in on how the future Trunks ark unfolded and that Trunks was departing to a different timeline. Another thing to keep in mind is just how intelligent Gohan is. Even though Chi-Chi pushed him into it, Gohan opted to become an intellectual/academic as he grew older. He was able to use his smarts to cope with interstellar monsters from an early age. Maybe _that'll_ be his edge over most characters.

I agree with just about everything you said. I REALLY want Gohan to make a comeback, maybe something like Goku and Vegeta are stuck in another Universe and Earth gets attacked and Gohan has to watch someone hurt his friends again...AND HE GOES NUTS AND TRANSFORMS INTO SS4 LOLOLOL. Seriously though, you mentioned Gohan maybe doing a new transformation (and I know its not going to happen) but it would be awesome if Toriyama would surprise the fans and make a Super Saiyen 4 Gohan...BeastMode. It would kind of make sense because Gohan always channeled his passion and anger into his ki, and the SS4 transformation was supposed to represent a Saiyens inner power, instinct, and animalistic nature and so it kind of makes sense that Gohan could channel that transformation given the right circumstances. I've always been a huge Gohan fan and I thought the teen Gohan vs Cell was one of the best DBZ moments too, especially the father/son kamehameha and I would be really excited to see a SS4 Gohan, that would be dope. If anyone knows Toriyama please pass my idea along to him lol. Nice video man, keep it up.

i like the Idea that the different kinds of ki and bodies determine the color, and no color is specifically stronger than another. Pure Sayian is Blue, Kai is Rose, and the Fused Kai/Sayian is White

I don't want you guys to lose hope but.....i am gonna make you lose hope.Gohan training is filler itself,notice how in the rof movie and in the super manga gohan has not even been mentioning to be training?Gohan training is toei exclusive which is why he propably won't do anthing major outside of filler episodes toei makes,its just toei teasing gohan funs.
Both toei and toyotaro(the guy who writes the manga)follow a basic script written by toriyama and fill in the rest in their own way.So both the anime and manga tell the same story but with different ways.Meaning that no matter how different they cannot derail from toriyama's script.So if toriyama's script says gohan is gonna be inactive as a fighter,no matter how much toei teases gohan's fans he won't play any major role outside of fillers.
Let me give you an example,anime has goku using kaioken super saiyan blue against hit but manga has goku using super saiyan god(red hair form)and then super saiyan blue against him,hit still fights goku evenly no matter how much goku powers up(while holding back on using his techniques)and goku surrenders in the end.As you can see,in which form goku fights hit differs from one another but the end result is the same in both cases.
